  • Food I pack and take on overnight hiking backpacking trips in Australia. Some recommendations for dinners, lunches, breakfasts and snacks for on the trail. Most of these food items you can buy at your local supermarket except for some the dehydrated meals that you will need to buy from specialty stores

Thanks for this. Some great ideas, I'll be trying the Mayo, avocado and Mexican rice for burritos with Chipotle sauce and pork floss (dehydrated shredded pork in soy sauce from Asian stores). Being Asian I shop a lot in Asian stores where there's a lot of dehydrated items. Great for longer trips and keeping costs down. Plenty of options from Korean, Thai, Philippines, viets etc. The dried Mango are amazing for snacks and to include in your breakfast. For breakfast I usually have Vietnamese Coffee with condense milk in those toothpaste squeeze bottle and chia seed overnight oats with shredded coconut and fruit. Weight wise its spot on, as 3 tbsp chia makes up 3/4 cup which is plenty for me.
These meals are always a highlight for our hikes. And while id love a beer I never feel comfortable drinking when I hike alone. Needing to be more alert.

Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment. I will have to try and find some of the pork floss. That sounds really interesting.
