There is a short section where you have to walk along the road, but otherwise there is a mountain to climb, a beach to walk on and a lake to walk alongside. Beautiful Australian Nature

Nice simple getaway! Well done Mick.
Thanks so much for checking it out and thanks for taking the time to write a comment. Really appreciate it.
Cheers for the video mate...wish I still had the knees for it...45km?👍well done
It was a fun hike that is for sure. Thanks so much for watching and thanks for taking the time to write a comment. Really appreciate it.
loved watching your video, I'm hoping to do the overland next year 2025, something I've wanted to do for 10 years
So glad you enjoyed it. I hope you get to do it next year. Make sure you book the dates you want when they open up the 2025 bookings as it can sell out
I had no idea Andrew Huberman did the Overland Track hike, thanks for the video!
Hahaha. Not sure if that is a compliment or not. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to write a comment
A joy to watch Mick, thank you😀
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for taking the time to write a comment too.
Great video. Thank you
Thanks for watching. Glad you liked it!
Nice spot if you like crowded camp grounds. I no longer go to National Parks due to the bureaucracy and nanny state mindset. State forests are better but they are being taken over by NPWS. When I was a kid you could camp anywhere in the park so long as you got a permit. Now I find Crown Land where I can duck off teh road, set up camp and not be bothered. Nicely produced video. Liked and subbed.
Thanks for taking the time to write a comment. It is a pretty crowded place but still a fun little very easy overnight adventure. Guess we have to get out and explore more places to find those little slices of paradise. Thanks for subscribing
@@travelwithmick I'm looking forward to watching your videos. This Friday I'm back up the Blaxland ridge area for a quiet overnighter. Close to home and yet peaceful as. Cheers, Perry
Great loadout. Gauze and leukotape could replace the bandaids and duct tape. Emergency bandage ( often called Israeli bandage) are great multipurpose, lightweight options for first aid kit. (stop the bleed/sprains and strains etc)
Thank for checking it out and for taking the time to comment. I have been refining my first aid items and I have been taking gauze and leukotape out on the trail with me recently. So totally agree with you on that. I carry snake bandages now too and they can double for sprains and to stop bleeding etc. thanks again and happy hiking
@@travelwithmick I'm an Aussie, this video is something I think everyone of us should be taught in school. Until I did a snake awareness/basic snakebite first aid workshop, I thought the bandage was supposed to slow blood flow. **Blush**. It's important not to cut off circulation. The snakebite bandages with the squares, that I've tested are basically useless. ruclips.net/video/Z_K3fDRdq7A/видео.htmlsi=H3Ac5LLkqw2NQ_Ba I highly recommend you practice wrapping with them, you will quickly find the correct pressure is probably not the squares.
Hey Mick, Im absolutely just starting out & on the hunt for an entry level tent, any recommendations? Also, can I ask why you went with a 3p over 2p?
Great that you are getting into it. There are so many tents on the market and it really depends on your budget. The Marmot Tungsten Ultralight 2-Person Tent is a great option. I also have this tent. The reason I have the 3P is because I go hiking with my wife and we are both over 6ft tall so the extra space inside is great and means we can bring gear inside if we want. Only tricky thing with a 3P is that it is big so can sometimes be a challenge finding a big piece of flat ground to set up on. Hope that helps
Yeah I did look at that, there are a few I'm looking at, saw someone selling a Blackwolf Grasshopper cheap but am unsure. I will look at the Marmot as well, thanks for getting back to me mate. Ah yep I thought it may be that you were using for 2 people. Definately helpful, thanks.
@@calhouston2517 good luck and happy hiking
I love the little pot scrubber on the caribiner. Gold :-)
So glad that you got something out of the video. All of the little things add us to having fun while out hiking. Thanks for watching and happy hiking.
@@travelwithmick let me just clarify that I got a whole lot more out of your video. I’m going to be broke but I’m changing up my gear to UL as much as possible. Thanks again.
Any comments regarding walking poles
I have some and I take them on my hikes. I don’t always use them but always take them for steep inclines and declines. Some hikes they are a must have
you have a good eye for filming etc, just be careful not to use to much music... i think it takes away from your great shooting and atmosphere
II will try and share more of the environmental sounds in future videos. Thanks for the feedback and Thanks for watching.
Cheers Mick, glad I stumbled on you channel, always great to see all the huts up in the high country, awesome hike and keen to check your other video, good luck, subscribed 🙂
Thanks for watching and subscribing. Cheers
Thanks for this. Some great ideas, I'll be trying the Mayo, avocado and Mexican rice for burritos with Chipotle sauce and pork floss (dehydrated shredded pork in soy sauce from Asian stores). Being Asian I shop a lot in Asian stores where there's a lot of dehydrated items. Great for longer trips and keeping costs down. Plenty of options from Korean, Thai, Philippines, viets etc. The dried Mango are amazing for snacks and to include in your breakfast. For breakfast I usually have Vietnamese Coffee with condense milk in those toothpaste squeeze bottle and chia seed overnight oats with shredded coconut and fruit. Weight wise its spot on, as 3 tbsp chia makes up 3/4 cup which is plenty for me. These meals are always a highlight for our hikes. And while id love a beer I never feel comfortable drinking when I hike alone. Needing to be more alert.
Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment. I will have to try and find some of the pork floss. That sounds really interesting.
Loving the vibe you give on this channel, can't wait for more videos ...... keep em coming !!!
Thanks for watching. So glad that you enjoy my channel. Just need to find some time to get out and make more content
Another great adventure
It was a fun one
Nice one Mick, Budawangs have been on my bucket list for years and still haven't made it out there. Well apart from climbing Pigeon House. Loved the morning fog, Fog is my favourite haha. Cheers!
Thanks mate. It was a fun adventure. I’ve been enjoying all of your bike packing adventures. How cool is O’Keefes Hut
Thanks mate. It was a fun adventure. I’ve been enjoying all of your bike packing adventures. How cool is O’Keefes Hut
@@travelwithmick oh man, I watched your Jagungal trip as well last night just didn’t get around to commenting. You must have been there just before me. Derschkos is now grey, they painted it the weekend I was there. You’re right about O’keefes, I wasn’t even that excited to visit O’keefes but now I have I think it’s one of my favourites, I think it is my favourite actually! So cool!
Having watched all of your videos I know there are so many huts you have visited, so that’s a big call. I do agree. It’s just even how the door handle opens and closes that makes it cool
Great video! Did you start this trip from Wog Wog campground? I did a walk from there a fortnight ago
Just found your channel, looking forward to working through your content!
Awesome! Thank you!
I carved my spoon at nordic edge with the spoon society is that were u did it
Carved this one while out camping
Awesome video mate
Glad you enjoyed
Great vid thanks! I did the 135km Cape to Cape in WA last September. I have a lot of the same hiking gear as you. The Helinox chair was a game changer!!! Curious as to what your total pack weight was?
Thank for checking out my gear video. Cape to Cape is in my list. I love that WA coastline. I think my base weight is around 6.5kg then plus water and food for the number of days I’m going out for. Plus camera equipment for filming which most people don’t carry!!!
Thank you for bring me the Overland track back in my mind. I' have walk them 23 years ago. Great to see them again. Brigitte
Glad you enjoyed it. I’m sure it was much tougher 23 years ago.
Rumor has it, it was carved from a bigger spoon.
Carved from a piece of Birch tree but those rumour mills work hard!!!!
Great video there brother, this hike is on my bucket list. Epic beard, sir.
It’s a great hike. There are actually so many options, huts and trails to explore
back in the 80"s wee used to be able to drive down from West Head Rd.....
Bit different now
love the sponge hack ;) Do you use footprint with your Copper Spur?
Yep we have and use the footprint. It has been good in wet weather and allowed us to pack down the inner and keep that dry then pack the wet fly and footprint last
This is an absolutely wonderful experience. The landscape, the surrounding sounds, and overall the experience to connect more with nature is like a healing power that I have been looking for. As someone who got stuck too much in the city and lost kind an adventurous soul, I truly appreciate this. Thank you and wish you all the best :)
I am so glad that you enjoyed this. Nature is my healer, relaxer and stress reliever too. It’s never too late to get out there in nature any way you can. Have a great day
Spectacular dramatic landscapes my friend. These shots are spectacular!🔥
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks Mick. I'm an absolute novice so this sort of information is very useful. I'm doing a test hike this weekend and camping in the back yard to test all the gear I've got so far. Watching your video has increased my list of items I still need. ;-)
Glad it was helpful! Good idea to test out your gear before you get on the trail so you know how everything is set up and works. Happy hiking
Very nice video! Nice gear choices. Those will serve you well. Nice channel. New follower here. Crow✌️
Awesome! Thank you!
Greta adventure Mick, thank you for taking us along on your adventure.
Glad you enjoyed it
Hello Mick, I was wondering whether you did this as a solo walk and then you said we, and then at 19:33 your partner shows up. Great editing and great adventure. We did this walk 23 years ago and we are about to embark on this adventure again. You got some beautiful days. Some great editing. Loved coming on your adventure Mick, thank you for sharing. For us its coming up shortly and we are excited.
Hi. Not solo on the Overland Track adventure. There was actually three of us walking together. I bet after 23 years the track will be the same but quite different. Especially now with the new huts. Have a great time and thanks for watching my video
Great video and a fantastic hiking adventure Mick. Beautiful filming and editing!
Many thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
Absolutely gorgeous work man, this adventure looks outstanding. Shots and landscapes are phenomenal! Absolutely phenomenal!
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the kind words

Great video thanks for sharing. Heading there in 2024.
Thanks for watching and glad you liked it. You will have the best time when you go
This is one of the best videos I've seen of the track. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Steve. Your comment has made my day. I’m glad that you enjoyed it.
Can never get enough of beautiful Tassie
Tassie sure is amazing
Fantastic video! Looks like you had an amazing trip.
Thanks Shannen. It was amazing and we got very lucky with the weather
Great seeing you on this epic adventure. Awesome video. 🥾
It sure was an epic adventure
Great filming and editing Mick! Looks like a great adventure, scenery looks incredible, really nice!
Thanks so much Mario. It is a fantastic hike
Fantastic shots my friend, this was edited and filmed professionally! Love the b-roll shots! 🔥🔥
Thanks. I’m glad you enjoyed it
Great video mate! Disappointingly impressive amount of rubbish you carried out, also impressive you had a garbage bag that big with you to carry it all!
Thanks mate. We were lucky one of us was using a garbage bag as a pack liner that we used to carry the rubbish out.
I have done a lot hiking in the past and on golden rule i have, that i leave no trace of being there and that include taking my owen rubbish back with me. If everyone did that there would be no problem. Gerard, Nsw Audtralia.
Totally. Everyone should just take their rubbish from the wilderness.
Breathtaking solo adventure, this upload is composed beautifully! 🥾🥾
Thanks. It was a fun adventure and I’m glad that you liked it
Aren’t you glad you didn’t have to fish me out 1km downstream.
Yeah plus it was a bit cold for swimming
Love this - and so close to home. Sad about the rubbish. Best part - witnessing L’s athletic prowess jumping the river, without a doubt. #likeagazelle
Thanks for watching. It was a shame about the rubbish. She really just went for to to get across the river. Totally like a gazelle
He was so sure I wouldn’t make it, made me more determined.
@@lauren6264 I don't think you could truly appreciate just how much I would have been whinging at any stage of this wee adventure.
Echidnas!!! Looks like a great track, I might give it a go when it’s slightly less wet!
Yeah. Two echidnas on one hike. So cool. Joining when it is dryer and warmer for swimming for sure
Looks like a great trip. Great video too, love the clips highlighting plants and trees.
Thanks for watching. So many interesting plants flowering at the moment
❤Glad you enjoyed it. The pools look great!
We are planning to go back when it warms up to go swimming
