How to be hated? - Formal instructions in Spanish || The IMPERATIVE in SPANISH

- Some people just do a great job being annoying. Here we'll give you instructions on how to b hated while you learn how to give instructions in Spanish (in a formal way).
First, you will start with a verb and to transform it into an instruction you would conjugate the verb for “yo” and take away the “o”.
Then depending on the root of the verb, you will add either an “a” or “e”. For verbs that end in -er or -ir you will take away the “o” and add an “a”. Then for verbs that end in -ar you will take away the “o” and add an “e”. Check out these examples.
These verbs all have ER or IR endings
Verb -Conjugate for yo - Take away the “o” - Add an “a”
Correr - Corro - Corr - Corra
Pedir - Pido - Pid - Pida
Escupir - Escupo - Escup - Escupa
Now let's take a look at verbs that end in AR.
Verb -Conjugate for yo - Take away the “o” - Add an “e”
Caminar - Camino - Camin - Camine
Hablar - Hablo - Habl - Hable
Manejar - Manejo - Manej - Maneje

Guys, I really love your channel and you two seem like an amazing team. Great sense of humor, no video of yours bores me ever. I am Cypriot and i find the accent quite easy for me. What I like most is that you speak very clear. And most times I have the same questions with Cody! Cody is the ultimate student. I understand why would be difficult for an English native speaker to embrace the accent. I my self have English as a second language and I can see why it would be hard.
I was taught "take the yo, drop the o, and do the switcheroo" and I've remembered that helpful little poem since Spanish class 15 years ago

WhyNotSpanish I love your videos. One question: I learned that ‘un acento ‘ is the accent mark: a mark that looks like an apostrophe , and the tilde is the squiggle line over the “n” . I don’t have a Spanish keyboard but like the word for “to bathe” in Spanish would be banar and the ‘n’ should have a tilde above it. Am I incorrect?
En español todas las palabras tienen acento. Solo algunas llevan tilde(una rayita). El signo sobre la n para volverla ñ se llama virgulilla o también tilde. Los dos puntos sobre la u para volverla audible después de una g se llaman diéresis.
It just dawned on me...that by "formal" instructions you were giving the "Usted" form of a command and not the tú form. I'll be watching the one on instrucciones informales el proximo, de todos modos.

bueno, en este caso, estamos dando una instrucción formal, entonces los verbos reflexivos terminarían en "se". Otros ejemplos son: Báñese, aféitese, siéntese...

Are the AR verb commands the same as the preterite “yo” form of the verb? Example: I finished is Terminé. Ordering someone to finish something also becomes Terminé. Am I understanding that right?

When I watched this I almost died laughing about the pedo thing. I have watched a lot of Spanish shows while learning Spanish (I know you're Colombian), but the other day I started my first Mexican show (Club de Cuervos) and I was surprised to hear them using "pedo" CONSTANTLY. Like "¿que pedo?" is like "what's up?" and you can use it for a bunch of other things too....double-checked it also meant "fart" and yeah, it is specifically Mexican slang. It's so weird studying Spanish from you and other South American sources and then listening to the Mexican dialect...it is so different that in some ways it's like a completely different language and I'm having troubles understanding it. It also seems a bit more harsh.
I was just wondering what your opinions were on it? I'm so curious as to how the language changes from country to country....like, are the differences in language between Colombian and Venezuelan as big as Colombian and Mexican? I'm thinking no, because Mexican is just way different from anything else I've heard. But I also remember I had two friends growing up, one was Dominican and the other Cuban, and they could barely understand each other. Anyway, any kind of insight you could offer I'd really appreciate it....so curious! :) It could also maybe make a good video....it's kind of a confusing thing to someone learning Spanish. I also get nervous because I don't want to offend anyone....when I first started learning Spanish I used a chat app and I think I offended a girl from Colombia when I used the Mexican form of "What's up?" (que onda vs. que tal) and I felt kind of bad....Oh, and I think Colombian is the best accent by the way, for sure!
El lenguaje mexicano del pueblo o lengua vulgar es casi incomprensible para los colombianos. Muchas palabras regionales y modismos que solo los manitos entienden. Pero el español culto de Mexico es tan correcto y elegante como el que más. Pero esto pasa en todos los paises. Trata de hablar correctamente siempre y deja el foclore s un lado. Si a un campesino le hablas en español de texto te vs a entender perfectamente.
Pero ojo porque es diferente según cada forma de tratamiento (tu, vos, ud)
Pero tener/hacer/decir no son irregulares! Decir -> digo -> diga, etc. En manera informal, sí (ten, haz, di), pero no en manera formal, no?
¿Viste un video para el imperativo informal? Quiero verlo. Nunca he oído hablar de esto con un imperativo formal.

En el español de España ese consejo no sirve (Sólo sirve cuando usas el USTED que en España es infrecuente, especialmente es poco frecuente darle órdenes a quien no conoces).
Habitualmente hablamos usando el TÚ, así que no cambiamos la O por A.
El imperativo en España (Usando el TÚ) es: "Corre, Pide, escupe, juzga, interrumpe...."
Mi consejo para los verbos regulares es conjugar como si fuera el *presente de la tercera persona de singular.* =)
Eso es en Espana, son 44 millones de personas y a la baja. En latinoamerica y USA somos casi 500 millones y hablamos asi
