  • This video is all about saving your own veggie seeds to plant next season.
It is simple and usually it requires (mostly) patience to wait and to know when to harvest your seeds.
The main key to Saving your Own Veggie Seeds is ensuring they are FULLY MATURE and ripe before you harvest them.
Best seeds to harvest / save include: Lettuces, Chinese greens i.e bok choi, tatsoi, Cucumbers, Onions, Tomatoes, Peas and Beans
Seeds you should NOT try to save b/c they’ll likely have cross-pollinated: cabbage family, Long English cucumbers, squash/pumpkins
Tatsoi seeds - at 3 different stages: flowers, seed pods start out green and then the seed pods mature and turn brown, like little rattles.
Using a brown, paper bag can be a very simple way to store the seeds you want to save for next year.
Beet seeds - last year it produced veg and (having not harvested it) this year it grew seeds! A typical way that root veg produce seeds the year after they were planted.
Chard - one plant is able to provide so many seeds!
Make sure all seeds are fully formed, brown & dry.
Remember to label so you know what you’ll be planting next year.

Great info! Thank you! Can you do how to save fruit seeds? We are growing watermelon and musk melon. Do we just save the seeds from the fruits? Do we need to dry them anyway?

to my knowledge - all seeds from squash, melons etc will have likely cross-pollinated and will not provide true seeds for you the following season.
if you hear otherwise, please let me know!
