Those onions will make your potatoes sprout if you keep them below because of the gas. Move the onions up high above the potatoes and it won’t affect them. Even better put the onions in another area entirely
You were absolutely right. My potatoes sprouted early and didn’t get to enjoy them as long as I usually do. I moved the onions out of there but it was too late. Thank you for your comments and I’ll definitely have them in separate areas this year!!!
@@buckeyegardener 🙂 I had that happen to me also one year and then I found out the gas the onions produce was the reason lol it’s so good to get a nice tater crop and I’m always looking for ways to store mine for ultimate longevity. I’m thinking about just leaving them in ground this year actually. I get a new crop every 90-125 days and use buckets and in ground methods. I think the ones I pulled up this week I will just keep stored and leave all the rest in the dirt because unless the chipmunk gets at them they should be good and the dirt is such a good insulator
