The absolute pinnacle of automotive design, maybe since the invention of the car itself. There hasn't been another and most likely never will be a car designed so perfectly proportioned and satisfying to look at from every angle. It's the epitome of what good design of any product should be. It's shameful what has happened to the automotive industry today. But perhaps it was meant to be, so that we can all admire the organic beauty and simplicity of cars like this. Thanks to everyone who keeps these cars alive and on the road. I like to think that I'm also part of this community by preserving and daily driving my 2001 Audi S4 B5. Enjoy.

Those buttons next to the seat heating are not ventilated seats, are the buttons for the massage seats. From my knowledge, E38 had no vented seats at all, in any trim.

That is exactly what a sports sedan meant for long highway trips should look like. It's not just a box with wheels like a 1980s Chevrolet Caprice. It doesn't have a bunch of random lines, shapes and fake plastic vents everywhere like basically everything today. It's not q Lexus SC430, no idea what that sh_t is. It commands attention but never says,"Hey look at me!"
The E38 is Goldilocks porridge if such a thing exists. It's got enough power but never enough for all but the most ham fisted driver to get into trouble with. It had tech but no it too much and you can turn up the heat without digging through a bunch of menus on a touchscreen. It has great visibility but enough safety stuff to increase your odds of walking aways from an accident. It's a great car and we'll never see anything close to it ever again.

Those aren’t ventilated seats, they’re a form of active seats designed to “massage” your underside to increase blood flow and alertness… or something like that. I don’t remember what BMW marketing called the system.
Also, an interesting note, I was able to purchase a BMW factory TV Tuner module from an E38 and install it in my E46 ZHP- it was plug and play since I already had the factory Navigation system. *Boom* Television suddenly appeared in the menu. It worked great for 3 years until they killed off analog broadcasting. I can still use it for analog aux video and a backup camera. It’s a perfect 16:9 screen so anamorphic DVDs play correctly- unfortunately audio is strictly mono :( One day I’d love to discreetly hack in the ability to send surround sound to the corresponding speakers around the interior.

I think they just put undamaged 8x18 rims at the back because they are easier/cheaper to get nowadays, because they were the (mostly unused )spire tires in the trunk, In EU/Gemany u cant buy new original styling 37 or they are very expensive.
