I agree with everything you said! And if you think those foam guns are good. Give the Hilti foam guns a try. We have a hundred installers and buy foam by the pallets. So we've tried every brand. Hilti foam guns just simply outlast them all.
you can clean out Great Stuff tubes with brake cleaner. I do it all the time and it works!
I keep mine somewhere that I walk by all the time to remind me to blow some fresh stuff though the tip on a regular basis. So it never goes bad and gets hard in the tip

I think you brought out a good point… 1/10th to half# used and the rest dries and goes to waste…. A product called “Kilted Fill” or “Fill the Kilt” came to mind… half the can size, with the marketing… “don’t waste your money” or “best for small jobs”. We would buy it’
I agree with your pro's and con's of spray foam and am seriously considering picking up this tool.
I absolutely agree regarding using a gun on larger cans. I now have 3 guns. One is for regular gap spray foam and 2nd for spray foam for doors and windows. Avouds need to switch gun to different foam during a project. Third gun has longer tube with tip that swivels. Great for reaching areas which were difficult to reach with regular gun, including some rim joists. I am convinced that reducing amount of wasted foam by being able to control the flow, and avoiding throwing away partially used cans, will pay for the guns in long term. Individual cans with reusable spray heads still have there use for small projects, but with my personal and professional projects the guns are a solid investment.

wd40 will clean the tube and the can tip so you can keep using all the can. on regular spray foam.

As a insulator I prefer hilti guns last longer but the foams the same
my trick was get thinner and clean out the whole tip then i can use it later

Just “stay tuned” strategy to get me to watch two more videos I’m not good with.
Then move on.
I am pro slider tech and this is all we use we just scrape off the dried up foam with a knife and get to spraying they hardly every dry up inside the gun but the guns do go bad every once in a while

Great to see your videos as always. How are you doing? How is your home and health situation?
Well I’m still dealing with the long Covid but I’m slightly better. Overall other than that, health is decent but not much has changed. We are going to try and buy land real soon and build on it but not sure if we can afford to build so we will be living in a camper trailer for a while.

This to me is the same problem with the cans of spray texture, we had talked about in the past. Your better off spending the money up from and save yourself the headaches and waste of product and then it looks like you no what!!!
I have found some caulking to be the same way, what waste. I tried caps tape, you name it and it all still drys out and you can't clear the dry stuff out.
Here is a lesson I learned the way. I have this beautiful truck, it's a walk-in type utility bed with boxes on the side. So of course I have all my tools, parts, paint, caulking etc. In this truck. So on occasion I visits a friend to do a little work and play. Not realizing the temperature change and the effects it would have on all latex products when it snowed and got extremely cold 🥶 need I say more!!!.......I do remember the almost fatal issue with the gun holding pressure, thank God You were all right!!! Great video!

Will this type of foam gun work for overhead applications ?

But this wont work under eves of a house or other over-head places unless can was under the gun, this is not a very good design. I want a gun with short flexible hose that screws to the can of foam, so I can get in small places.......
