I'm gonna be honest- I love your accent's pronunciation of "Latakia". I have tried this one, BaseballPipeGuy sent me some. It is wonderful and I bought a full tin. Thanks for the review.
Colin Kelly Hello Colin! I´m glad, you mentioned the pronounciation of "Latakia"! :-) Cos I decided to do a video on that special topic just a while ago...but I´m still looking for a proper interview partner... The reason is, that the pronounciation is discussed very controversial here in Germany (and as Tom - the NWPipesmoker - told in a video, also in the US). Actually its a very silly dispute...but partially carried out very ideological. One group (most of the german YTPC) is pronouncing the third syllable (Lattakiia) because it`s near the pronounciation, the inhabitants of the syrian city prefer. The other group (most of the non YTPC pipe smokers in Germany) is pronouncing the second syllable (Latakia)...and that was the common pronounciation for about 100 years. So, first argument is comprehensible...to pronounce in the way inhabitants do...but in this case you also have to say "Beijing" instead of "Peking" and "Pare" instead of "Paris"...and so on...you see, it´s difficult... I use both pronounciations....whatever comes in my mind first :-) So...tell me (with your special experience)...is this "very german" ??... :-) Thanks for watching Colin - and be well!
I realy like this blend in my meerschaum and corn cob. Its probably my favourite "english" style tobacco at this point. Also flakes have to be my favourite ( havent tried, cakes, plug or cube cut yet) Cheers
Hi I picked up a tin of this tobacco that was dated 2014 and at age is very very good quite a different taste profile I highly recommend aging this tobacco keep the great videos coming till then take care
It looks good! I know the HH old dark fired is a wonderful blend! We have this blend here in the USA and I will pick up a tin of it to try. Thank you for the review!
Smokin' Briar Hello Briar! ...yeah, I´ve seen, that it`s available in the US quite some time...and so you´re again on the lucky side when it comes to tobacco :-) Get yourself one and enjoy it! Thanks for watching Briar - much appreciated! Take care and be well!
Great video mark I bought a tin last year dated 2013 that age is very good you might want to put a tent away for a year or two and I think you'll really enjoy that difference in taste thanks for all your great videos take care
Hi Mark. I don't smoke anything with Latakia in it as I don't really care for it. Mississippi River has just a little in it and its not to bad but that's the most I can stand. My all time favorite tobacco is Deception Pass by Seattle Pipe Club. 🔥🔥🔥
+GoldPanner72 ...yeah...I understand that...not really a huge fan of Latakia myself...LOL But...perhaps Gilles brings you into it...LOL And its interesting, that in the US there are much more Latakia-lovers than in Europe...perhaps next time, Joshua and me, we`ll talk about that in a video about differences in smoking habbits on both sides of the pond...we`ll call it "transatlantic tobacco talk"... Take care, my friend! Mark
Hello sir, what is your preferred way to load this tobacco, ie. broken, rubbed, dried for X minutes, etc.? I'm still trying to find a good way for myself. The tobacco is wonderful, but I'm trying to reduce the dreaded 'wet smoke' with this one. Many thanks for your thoughtful and honest reviews!
Hello Nicolo! Thanks a lot for watching! Well...I prefer to rub the tobacco out...very fine. I take the estimated amount in the left hand, go with the right hand on top of that and rub it ...round and round...in one direction...until it is fine and completely twisted...then I direct it into the bowl...in one piece. By that way, you have an excellent burning... Take care...hope, that helps.. Mark
Hello! FrenchCanadianpiper sent me a sample of this tobacco. I wanted to do a 1st impression from it but the memory on my iPhone was full and never could make it. I had somekind of perfume fragrance from it. It was like smoking a perfume. I quite enjoyed it, but do not know what to think about that fragrance. Is it the Latakia? I don't think that it was coming from the Virginia. Is it from the Oriental/Turkish? I might order a tin sometimes since I think the HH series are quite nice blends. I would like to know what you think about that. Be well my friend!
Gilles Cassidy Hello Gilles! ...yeah...I don´t think it`s the Virginia neither...I don´t know exactly, but I think the main taste (beneath the smoky notes) comes from the special combination of the Latakia and the oriental... Thanks for watching Gilles - and be well my friend!
You get into all the good tobaccos. I have heard good things about latakia flake. Perhaps I will try some ay some point. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I like to hear how tobaccos compare to other tobaccos.
Thanks for watching! Well...if you want to order from a german website, I recommend Peter Heinrichs "www.pfeife.de"... You can choose an english version by clicking on the german flag... Hope, that helps! Take care! Mark
Hello there! Thanks for the quick notes on this one.. Actually Im waiting for 1 tin of HH La Flake coming from Germany to Czech republic, so Im pretty curious already. Thank you! :)
I have found the Mac Baren HH tobaccos to be great. Their pure Virginia is one of my fav. Straight VAs too.

Just picked up a tin. The first bowl I think I tasted Kentucky Dark Fired burley. Keep up the great videos!
This has become my favorite tobacco - even better than plum pudding for my taste - 👍

Hello pipehead!

This sounds similar to Bengal Slices, which has a sweet and smoky flavour like beef jerky.
Hello Vince!
Thanks for the hint! And for taking the time!
