For me, smoking HH Latakia flake is a lot like eating lamb. Every time I eat lamb I say to myself, "Mmmm, this great! Why don't I eat this more often?!?!" and then I continue to not eat it but once every blue moon. HH Latakia flake is much the same way, every time I smoke it I find it delightful and question why I don't smoke more of it, and then continue to smoke anything and everything else but.
I'm just he opposite. It's hard to get me to smoke any pipe tobacco without Latakia in it. My guess is that I would really like this mixture, particularly if the Latakia is in the forefont. I am tempted to order a in of this for my next tobaccy.
Thank you my good friend :-) Going to The Danish Pipeshop this Saturday to stock up, and start building a 'cellar'. Will grab a tin of this and see if it is to my liking. Cheers from Denmark!
Now I need to grab some Balkan Flake from the cellar. Thanks again for this first impressions video. I enjoy having a tobacco video to look forward to weekly.
Im actually smoking a Foundation Olmec while watching this and its full blast of leqther and pepper in the first 2/3rds but then at the last 3rd as soon as you said caramel that flavor immediatly emerged.
It’s a solid blend. I’ve only had it aged (2 years) , but was it ever good. Smelled like a lat bomb but flavours were balanced between the lat and the virginias. Sweet, sour, meaty. Quite delicious. I look forward to your final review
Nice, in my past when I was on and off with pipes I only did that smoked latakia blends, then got overwhelmed-overdosed with this condiment leaf, and today this niche have been replaced by kentucky dark fired- nevetheless I recall how creamy and full a good latakia mixture can be, additionally theres this pipe ghosting issue caused by latakia, Finally what I say Baren makes high quality tobacco whatever they touch and especially the whole HH serie is a true gem, Thank You Brand, You're the one super reviewer on Tube, and thats counts, Greets, Paul
Vigilante Driver 48 seconds ago Yesterday, I received my Tin. While I am a new pipe smoker. I find this Latakia mild in flavor, tasteful and a very nice evening smoke. I am enjoying a bowl in my old Estate GBD Triumph as I type, even though it is now in the morning hours of April 18th. That's evening for me. I can recommend this blend for those old and new pipers who want a mild evening smoke.
heyyy Bradley I've never tried this blend I'm eager to hear your views on it I'm alittle afraid of the Kentucky in the blend because of the experience I had with Amphora full Aroma it gave me a bad taste in my mouth and numness I hope I don't get the same reaction to this blend we will see I love your first impression of the blend Bradley Excellent thanks for sharing buddy happy smokes ☺☺☺☺☺👍👍👍👍👍 best regards Peter.
regarding HH Latakia Flake, would you describe the tin note 'as though the flakes had been soaked in tabasco sauce' and would you describe the smoke 'as though a cigar had been put through the perique process'?...thanks in advance
I've always found that it's best to rub it out while it's still moist. If it's too dry then I get chaffed and irritated, so I'll actually add moisture in the form of a quality lanolin based hand lotion, baby oil, or even a water based personal lubricant. I know that you mentioned that things can get hot and steamy if it's too moist but I've always like it better that way. Honestly, I know a lot of people claim to get tongue bite that way, but I think they're just bragging. I doubt so many people are that big and/or flexible, especially when the average size of an American man's pipe is around 5 to 6 inches... hey, are we still talking about tobacco?
+STUFFandTHINGS Hey Bradley. I just came across a tobacco that you may find interesting, if you haven't already tried it. It's called Raijin from Tsuge. I know you're a big perique fan, and this may be in your wheelhouse as this is a more perique-heavy blend. I just picked it up from smokingpipes.com. The other components are toasted burleys, Virginia tips and fire cured tobaccos. I find the perique is right at the forefront, since you get that pepperiness right off the hop. This probably won't be a replacement for Elizabethan, but I think you might enjoy this. Plus the tin art is pretty cool.
I hate that tobacco. It was one of the first Latakia flakes, probably the first, I ever smoked and it kept me from trying another one for a couple of years. To me this one doesn't have any of the qualities I like in Latakia. It dumbs down the incense and spicy notes. It also seems to have a faux Latakia taste. It's hard to explain, but it tasted like someone added something smoky to the blend, kind of like BBQ sauce. Its probably just the way the pressing affects the components

Nice analogy. I smoke heavy latakia blends on a regular basis. So lamb in my normal dish.

Just got this tobacco and it is an absolute winner man. I was pleasantly surprised.
Thank you my good friend :-)

HH Latakia Flake is one of my favorites. I buy it, pop the top and let the flakes dry for a few weeks.
Nice. Thanks for sharing.
So what's a good bulk blend with Latakia that might be like HH Latakia Flake or Presbyterian Mixture?
This is my new favorite blend. Sweet, slightly sour, slightly smokey. I would rather have this than Penzance any day. lol
Hello its looks like all HH blends are really good ...firt impresion its good I like it Bradley thanks 😉
That lads, is a wonderful blend.
I find the fold and stuff method works best for this flake
sounds good
BRILLIANT
On my try list...but there's so much on that list I'll never get to them all.
I hope you will stick to these first impressions videos. Hope you are doing well. God bless you and your loved ones.
Sincerely KS
"But then there's Gawith," can be said about them for almost anything...
1792 and coffee. This MB Latakia has been my all-day for the last 6 months, love it, but SG flakes and plugs have been diverting my attention of late.
