Dear, oh dear, what a sorry state we're in // We brought the battle // We saw the signs // Now we've found ourselves two steps behind // I'm counting days like they're running out // There's ghosts in the water, so prey for drought // This time there's no where to hide // We're facing the firing squad side by side // 1986 // This is full relapse // Our latest apocalypse // This is colony collapse // Give us the rope and we'll tie our own noose // We truly believed all we touched turned to gold // We were warned but we wouldn't be told // They said that the ocean's on fire // Say it isn't true // The truth never hurt so much // Can we start anew?

"They say the ocean's on fire, say it isn't true, say it isn't true!"
Fucking goosebumps, man...
Exactly the same !
By FAR the most underrated Architects songs and one of my absolute favorites by them
This isn't a song... This is the priceless work of art
Tom was a genius!!!
Tomáš Holý everyone in the band is/was...
i think he's referring to the fact that tom wrote all their stuff, he's not discrediting the other lads' musical talent :)
+Sarah fair enough then, man ^^
No i think this is colony collapse !? :D
Dude. not only the album, but this song alone. The melancholy..the emotion.. Im speechless.. 100/10
Moonspell & My Dying Bride, THAT is melancholy. This is just a story well told.
Gillian M. not all that is blue must be sky. this song is much more melacholy. this refers to something real, almost palpable. moonspell and mdb is much more abstract. I adore what Architects are composing. It is poetry ripped off reality.
amjggg Cant agree more feels like yesterday when i pumped this album directly when it came out
Sam Carter's voice is really surreal. When I first heard it, I was like mesmerized by it. Really like an instrument, he does just what he wants with it. The whole album is a masterpiece and this song is so powerful&meaningful, I only can press repeat again and again.
After blasting this album for the fourth time and going through all of the comment sections, I have come to realization that this is the first time I have ever seen a bands album get released where there is absolutely no hateful comments. This is a first and there is a reason for it. This album fucking goes hard, hits hard, and has the emotion to tie it all together. I am speechless with this album. Easily album of the year for me and its only the second month of the year. ALL HAIL ARCHITECTS, WE'RE NOT WORTHY.
I didn't go through all of the comment sections, I just read some of them and I was amazed by how well this album is received. Not because I believe this album isn't worth it, how could I possibly believe that? it's a brilliant album, but there are always haters. It's refreshing to see that people have left hate aside for once and came to appreciate this astounding piece of art. I seriously doubt that any other release this year could top this. Amazing.
KamalianCiranoush I am going through all of my favorite metalcore albums trying to see if there is one better than this and I am going to be honest...this may be the best album I have ever listened to...
This is a massive record, so it's highly possible that there isn't a better one in the metalcore scene. To be honest, Sempiternal is my all time favourite album, even though, I've got to admit, Lost Forever // Lost Together is better. To me, both are great albums that made me love the bands even more.
KamalianCiranoush Buried Inside - Spoils of Failure.
owningall Lots of people seem to like Sempiternal even though they hated them before, haha. I like their previous records too, except the first one, I am not into deathcore and the lyrics crack me up.
The architects fan base are so supportive and awesome, never any hate here. You guys rock 🤘
Except for the comment section of new material 😂
Dear, oh dear, what a sorry state we're in
We brought the battle, we saw the signs
We've found ourselves two steps behind
I'm counting days
Like they're running out
There's ghosts in the water
So pray for drought
This time there's nowhere to hide
We're facing the firing squad side by side
1986, this is full relapse
Our latest apocalypse, this is colony collapse
Give us the rope, and we'll tie our own noose
We truly believed all we touched turned to gold
We were warned, but we wouldn't be told
I'm counting days
Like they're running out
There's ghosts in the water
So pray for drought
This time there's nowhere to hide
We're facing the firing squad side by side
They said the ocean's on fire
Say it isn't true, say it isn't true
The truth never hurt so much
Can we start anew? Can we start anew?
1986, this is full relapse
Our latest apocalypse, this is colony collapse
Colony collapse
Dear, oh dear, what a sorry state we're in
Dear, oh dear, what a sorry state we're in
They said the ocean's on fire
Say it isn't true, say it isn't true
The truth never hurt so much
Can we start anew? Can we start anew?
This time there's nowhere to hide
We're facing the firing squad side by side
They said the ocean's on fire
Say it isn't true, say it isn't true
The truth never hurt so much
Can we start anew? Can we start anew?
1986, this is full relapse
Our latest apocalypse, this is colony collapse.
I'M THROWING MONEY AT THE SCREEN BUT NOTHING IS HAPPENING THIS ALBUM IS THE BEST SHIT I'VE EVER HEARD YOU GUYSSS
+Affern no shit nothing is happening...
I could listen to the riff at 0:52 all day, it's so simple but it's a beautiful melody.
Architects are my fav. They speak to my soul
I love architects. My favorite
If you can't get any feels from this song, then you must be inhuman.
Or ignorant
ruclips.net/video/8Zx6RXGNISk/видео.html
Inhuman-ly COOL
AMIRITE GUYS??!
Definitely my favourite song off Lost Forever // Lost Together. Well done, Architects. This album is unbelievably massive. You've outdone yourselves.
Holy Ghost I've been lost Forever
Started at Dead Butterflies and made my way back here. This is metal. Unpacking this over and over again.
Suffering never sounded so angelic.
This man lyrically and vocally projects what goes through my head almost everyday. "We are but one planet".
+Jynxie Jaymes This is quite literally the only band I listen to, for the very reason you stated. No one else can provoke my emotions like Architects.
+ThatKidYouDontKnow1 They do strike more emotions in me than anything I have heard in awhile. His vocals are just so guy wrenching. Broken Cross has really gripped me the last couple of days as well.
+Jynxie Jaymes I've been hooked on Rise Against by these guys for about a month now, if you haven't, give it a listen. it's a beautiful song.
saw them like 2 weeks ago on pukkelpop, went to them alone because my friends wanted to see limp bizkit, there were not alot of people, not at all, but the beautifull thing was, everyone sang and moshed with songs we jumped and the whole ground shaked, best concert i saw those 3 days, nothing came even close to it, i love this community :D
+Sam Accou I was there too. It was just awesome. I was in the pit all the show and it was incredible seeing all people singing, I've also made 4 crowd surfing. Definitely, this is the best show I've seen during the 3 days. I love this band more than everything
+kaszilla The idea of someone going to Limp Bizkit over Architects is horrifying.
+Sam Accou maybe i dont know, i was too bussy in the pit to notice anyone :D but if i had i wouldve said hi ! and indeed they are one of the best live bands ive seen
+kaszilla I'm American and can't imagine even considering seeing Limp Bizkit over Architects...although I can't fathom wanting to see LB ever.
Junknstuff lb is not that bad, especially on festivals. They know how to entertain the crowd wich is always a good thing :D
Every time, every single time I hear this song, it gets me so much, I cry. Every- goddamn- time.
that shit hasn't been funny for like 2 years
@@Harmi-XD was it meant to be funny?
@@tombetty5137 I think someone else deleted their comment
@@Harmi-XD ah, thought you were trying to make spite of that persons statement, because it is one of them songs.
One of my favorite songs
tambien una de las Mias *-*
Happy 10 years to one of my fav albums
Underrated song couldn't stop crying to this rip tom
This is probably my favourite song on the whole album, you can really tell the lyrics mean a lot to Sam and that comes through in the raw emotion conveyed in the song. The screams are brutal and intense yet still understandable and the cleans also give you a real sense of emotion and meaning to the lyrics. On an album full of amazing songs this is the stand out in my opinion
***** Sam and Tom write them in partnership :)
Redefined incredible with this album. Almost speechless
This album from beginning to the end is just masterpiece! Every chord, every riff, every word is simple epic! Best album I've ever heard in my life I'd say.
Daniel Luszcz the last couple of seconds is one of the most fucking beautiful things I've heard. Like the earth is fucked and we are all dead.
why haven't i listen to this band before... silly me.
+Jess Grenier better late than never
You never heard “follow the water”???
Listening to my pre-order right now. This song is something else. I got chills man, chills. Beautiful lyrics.
haha, it's prison mike! epic profile pic
Do anyone know if there will be song commentaries for this album? Have not been around all of them yet, just listened to Distant Blue, Colony Collapse and repeatedly been dragged in by Broken Cross. The lyrics on this album, from what I think so far, are beyond impressive. It's atypical from a lot of the generic mainstream lyric writing in this genre, and I am loving it. It drags you in and does not only paint the picture, but forces you rethink your opinion on the more heavy subjects, like religion and our understanding of the soils of the western world. Thank you Sam Carter, you are the man in my book..
If I remember correctly, Sam isn't the one who writes lyrics, but I might be wrong.
I believe Tom is the one writing the lyrics, not Sam.
Seeing as how he was the one explaining the meaning of Broken Cross on the blogentry posted on Tumblr, he should most likely be the writer.
Path Hoffman Thank you.
search in google for the track by track they explain all the songs and the meaning
Oh nice. Thanks a lot. I will defiantly do so.
lol
I remember looking up them on Wikipedia around 2009 and it consisted of around thirteen lines. Now it's a lot.
I'm so glad they've made it.
This is just a legend...
Favourite song on the album.
This song, is one of the best i have heard in many years
Maybe my favourite Architects track. Pure art.
Epic. Thanks Architects. You are rare diamond in the musical ocean. Take care of yourself.
I love Sams new vocal style!!
took so long to get to this song after having the first 4 songs on a loop. the wait was worth it definitely the best song on the album. 'they said the oceans on fire. say it isn't true'
My favourite song by them right now - I should say most listened to, as their songs continually move me deeply and help me think outside the box. I am seeing them live soon and I've never been so psyched for a concert in all my life - but it won't be the same at all without Tom Searle. I hope you're resting in peace. You changed the way I played guitar man, and you were a chill dude without rockstar ego. I didn't know you, but it was the most heartbreaking news in recent memory. It's hard to deal with as a huge fan and I could tell from interviews you were such a nice guy. I'm glad to see they are trudging on full force... I thought they were on hiatus, and got the ticket last minute that was one of the last before they sold out! Rest in peace man, it makes me want to cry just thinking about your undeserved fate.
I love how all the comments about this song, album and band are 100% positive, every where i go people think Architects is an awesome band, i feel so many emotions listening to them
Man, this song reminds me a lot of Thrice for some reason. Good job Architects. Loving every track on this album!
Everything about this album is magnificent. Every second of it.
Une chanson sublime, originale, qui vient d'un groupe exceptionnel. C'est un privilège de connaitre votre musique. On vous aime. Love from France ! See ya on da road
does anyone wanna talk about Ali killing it on bass starting at 00:30?
Yeah...amazing
Gotta say this is their best song yet holy fucking shit i cant stop listening to this one! Since the release of the album i got stuck immediately, its so powerful.
I know Architects never disappoint, but I never expected to hear anything like this, fucking ridiculously powerful.
After years that's still so perfect and sadly for me that song was so great and mean full..
Such a emotionally powerful song.
This makes me want to both cry and go absolutely ballistic.
I find the singing different on this album compared to songs like Devil's Island and Unbeliever. Sam Carter, you the man :)
I was worried that Sam wouldn't be using his singing voice from what I saw from Broken Cross and Nayser. Fortunately I am sadly mistaken.
So stoked for this album can't wait when I get it along with the shirt.
"Fourtunatley" I am "sadly" mistaken
this song is so beautiful i can't get over it
2:45 that breakdown 🤤
1986 was deemed the year of international peace between the united nations. it is also the year the Chernobyl nuclear accident happened killing 31 people but leaving the land in waste and became uninhabitable. it is also the year we first celebrated Martin Luther King day. also, some people in the Reagan administration secretly sold arms to Iran causing the Iran-Contra affair.
This song is life
wow, never seem to disappoint!
wow what beautiful music is this i hear? o.o sounds so amazing!
Goddamnit, this is fuckin awesome.
Saw them yesterday! This song was amazing live!!! :) :)
I seriously listen to this album everyday, each time it just gets better.
I've listened to them a little bit before but never truly sat down and listened to their stuff and I'm really glad I'm listening to this album so good!
Thanks for the show last saturday in Lisbon!
You are amazing!
Hope you come back soon!!
Best song on lost forever lost together
Sam voice Is touch my heart in this song,,
gets me every fckn time ..
on of their best song. so powerfull in live, I think she should never leave the setlist
This is such a great song, the actual colony collapse disorder was an interesting read as well when i was working out the meaning behind the song
Best album of the decade.
I am in love with this album and this song makes me love everything
One reason I love Architects so much is because they actually stand for something relevant and are politically active and engaged in speaking out against all that's wrong with humanity. For God sakes, they even talk about the inhumane slaughter of dolphins in Japan in their song "The Devil is Near".
Dan, this was your last gift to us, rest in peace bro we will always love you
Dan? U meant Tom
@@maksymtarasenko Yeah my bet is that he messed his comment up. But the message conveyed is still very true. That was one of Tom's greatest pieces of art. I mean, C.A.N.C.E.R. followed by this song followed by Castles in the air is a fuckin blessing.
@@HollowCrown45 well he's still wrong, Tom contributed on AOGHAU too
At first glance I thought the song was titled "Colon Collapse", and I thought, well that's a superbly subtle metal song-title :-/ Shame on me
Haha
Lol.
Sounds a lot like Being as an Ocean yet still definitely Architects, second favourite song off the album.
favorite song right here
I want to go and listen to their old albums jut to see
This song can also be connected to the latest earthquake that happened to Nepal, so sad. It just makes me cry, rest in peace to the victims.
The aim of the song is to describe how nuclear waste is contributing to a human version of colony collapse syndrome. I can see some very tepid links but deeper meaning really isn't there, you've just misread it.
2:43 "This is.... COLONY COLLAPPPSSSEEEEEE!!"
I have to say, Sempiternal is my all time favorite album but this isn't far behind! The lyrics, the vocals, the instruments, the everything. I am awestuck, speechless truly. Why have I not fallen in love with Architects earlier?
you really need to broaden your musical horizons, although I enjoyed sempiternal it's very poorly written in comparison to albums that most people would consider to be the best of all time
***** I have a pretty accurate idea of how broad their music span is considering they think sempiternal is the best album of all time.
Umm, it's nice to know I unintentionally started a quarrel.
But what really made me love Sempiternal is that I didn't expect BMTH to pull something like that off. The album was fantastic and as a person who really focuses on lyrics, I thought they did great job. But hey, that's just my opinion. :) And It's not like I don't listen to any other bands or any other genres. I do have broader music taste, you just can't know that by reading my comment, DPOSclan.
Keep calm and love Architects ;)
This is by far one of there most underrated songs to me it's up there
no i think this is colony collapse
You can't half hear the blessthefall influences throughout the entirety of this song :'). So good though, I have a massive love for these guys!
So, besides the Colony Collapse Disorder, can anyone clarify what this song actually is about? All I can think of, because of "1986" + "apocalypse" is the Chernobyl disaster. Anyone able to enlighten me?
In general, it's about the state of humanity. We've already screwed ourselves over, but will do nothing to help ourselves.
ty:)
I feel the key line is there is ghost in the water. History repeats itself. And then bring the drought. Cleanse us. 1986 is just his example to use for one huge disaster by man kind. But not matter how small or large, tragedy is tragedy. Suffering is suffering. Say it isn't true.
No, because the book is called 1984 not 1986
The song is about the nuclear catastrophe that happened in Japan five years ago, when a tsunami caused by an earthquake damaged nuclear power plants in Fukushima and thousands of people died because of the subsequent accidents... And you're right, "1986" in the chorus is referring to Chernobyl disaster, referring to it as the kind of precursor of 2011 tragedy
Fantastic!
Just so fucking good, never gets old Idk how many times I've listened to this . In unbelievable amount of times still love still true
Fav song on the album... Say it isn't true, say it isn't true.
not sure any song will get me in the feels quite like this masterpiece
To me, Issues and Architects are in two different musical lanes. Issues focuses more on incorporating different musical techniques into their music (more one on one). But Architects is just a straight forward band. Tough music about bigger life/world issues.
R.i.P. : (
This is a perfect album.
Sam Carter is just amazing love him
AMAZING =O ! such a bold song !
beautifull.
please come to Kuching, Malaysia😂
Glad I’m late
Y’all know how good things b the first time
Profundo
can anyone tell me what event he meant with the "1986 this is full relapse our latest apocalypse" part? only big thing i know happened then was the Chernobyl disaster
+Milk0matic That's exactly what he's talking about! That and the Fukushima disaster. I believe he stated it in an online post but I don't remember where
Dylan oh, fair enough! Thanks man :)
Yeah it's referring to Fukushima and it's paraphrasing the idea of colony collapse, a syndrome in bees where their environment becomes unsustainable and the colony dies. Really clever song :)
Benjamin Smith ah yeah man, makes sense now. cheers mate :)
No worries!
really there is one person that dislike this? perfect song by my favorite band.
Best song on the album... good stuff :D
It's very good song.
For someone who despises metalcore and hasn't enjoyed a record in that genre for more than three years, this record is fucking fantastic. Seriously this is great. Five stars.
Chernobyl nuclear plant disaster....? 1986?
You're right bro
habitat63 Montoya Its about Fukashima, and the people there reminiscing about Chernobyl.
@@mpk6664Thanks for the explanation dude. Now I can't listen to this song the same again.
@@y__h Actually more about Fukushima contributing to the "Colony Collapse" syndrome, following closely Chernobyl's events in 1986. It is more of a "We never learn" kinda message, I believe.
I LOVE THIS BAND,MMM.,REC YEA,LOVE FROM ANE
1986. Chernobyl. The day the earth was scorched and pandora's box was opened.
It's saying how Fukushima is the next contributor to the colony collapse syndrome. Unbelievably clever.
God frickin dammit these guys are so far beyond talented. Another work of art 👌👌👌
Best song on the album
