Can I Beat Bonetail Right Away Without Any HP or FP Upgrades?

This is the second part of my playthrough on Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door Remake. Right after the first chapter I got very sidetracked with the pit of 100 trials and stubbornly took the insane difficulty as a challenge to beat instead of just playing the rest of the game.
