My mechanic has told me that he has consistently serviced panther platform cars up to 500k miles and they are still running strong; That's also why he owns a grand marquis himself. I recently bought a Lincoln town car signature and I have no regrets. Easily one of the most comfortable rides I have ever driven. I am definitely keeping this car as long as possible. Also love the two tone color.

The difference is that THAT generation of 4.6 in a Lincoln Town Car has been known to go 500-600K on its original drive train, with only fundamental maintenance and regular movement. They are a hell of a lot cheaper to own, operate and maintain than any Mercedes.

It makes me feel really good another young person appreciating cars like these. Maybe we can make cars like these have a comeback.
I have an 04 Grand Marquis Ultimate Edition. It has almost all the luxuries of the town car and it rides like a dream. Take great care of that car my man. They don’t make them like that anymore. There’s a dang good reason why old people are driving town cars and grand marquis. It’s because they’ve had 65+ years of driving experience and they know a thing or two about about what’s good to drive and what isn’t.
Also: you’re absolutely right about the German cars: they ride rougher, and insanely expensive to maintain. They’re extremely overrated.

First; thank you for this video it was great. Not only were you spot on with your assessments & conclusions, but buying these vehicles (if you want luxury) makes perfect financial sense. The bodies are solid and the 4.6 L engine is darn near bullet-proof. Second; I live in the Dallas, Texas area and I just bought my wife a used 2011 Lincoln Town Car Signature Edition with a coach roof and only 88K miles. The vehicle was owned by an elderly gentleman who also resides in the Dallas area. He kept it garaged and maintained it at a Lincoln dealership. The exterior looks practically new, the interior is spotless and, get this, in the engine compartment the firewall was just dusty, no grease, no grime anywhere. It purrs like a kitten and drives as if a cloud was resting on down feathers. One of the best vehicle purchases I've ever made.

A significant reason so many FoMoCo "Panthers" were used by taxi/livery services (and the Police, in the case of the Ford Crown Victoria) is that they not only have a well proven robust drivetrain, they are also of body on frame construction (only TRUCKS are made this way now), and are rear wheel drive. This combination is the most durable AND easy to repair setup. Repairs tend to quicker, easier and faster. (and cheaper!). Taxi (and police) fleets can't suffer a lot of "downtime". These are the SAME features that make these a great choice for "Regular Joes" too. And, if one is so inclined, a normal (not NASA trained technician!) guy can do most repairs themselves.

Love your enthusiasm for the Lincoln Town Car. I’ve driven Town Cars and Grand Marquis most of my life and have made the same arguments you do when people say I’m driving a “old man car”. I just bought a 2003 Executive Edition with only 49,000 miles owned by an Air Force Colonial that is in excellent condition with the most complete maintenance records I’ve ever seen. I paid $4200 but that’s well under book for the condition and mileage. Don’t let everyone in on how great Town Cars are though, it’s getting harder and harder to find a good, low mileage one at a decent price because the good ones sell the same day they’re posted.😀

Like new inside, outside and underneath without any hint of rust. I figure if it lasts me for the next 10-15 years without a car payment, I'll be laughing all the way to the bank. Everything works like new and yes, it's incredibly comfortable, roomy, relaxing and enjoyable to drive. And yeah, plenty of room under the hood to work on the engine. What's not to love? Even my teenagers love it and want me to find them a Panther platform for their first cars now. And yes, there were generally only 4 customers for these Panther platform cars - 1- Taxi companies, 2 - Livery/Limo companies, 3 - Police (FCVs P71s) and 4 - Old people (LTCs).

Own 6 of them in the last 25 years. Also you'll be changing out the ignition coils a few times also. If you don't do these yourself, your going to get nailed $$ at a garage or dealership. Also upgrade to the more expensive intake manifold when the time comes. They always blow out.

My 2011 was bought brand new by the limo company and parked in storage until 2014 when it was first registered. Hit 200k, NYC shut down so the last of them were being sold off this year regardless of mileage. A couple of drivers still have them and refuse to get rid of them because clients will demand a Town Car and turn you down if you don't have one, period. Too bad they all ripped out the air suspension, but you can reinstall it for a couple hundred. Coils are still fine but aren't the same. Ford didn't put airbags in just for the hell of it.

I don't need a car to slalom thru "the twisties" and can go 200 Mph in 3 seconds but rides like a skateboard, I have a cheap old motorcycle for the more "sporting" fun urges I get. I also don't need an SUV, (I have an ACTUAL truck for any off road use or towing/hauling.) I need a reliable, easy/cheap to fix, comfortable, quiet car so I can tolerate my (usually 15 Mph!) daily Pittsburgh commute with as little to worry about as possible. The Town Car (or really any of the FoMoCo "Panther" cars) is perfect in that role. I wish they STILL made CARS (actual sedans, NOT "crossovers") like this!

A friend of mine, who was a used car wholesaler, preferred the '90 Town Car as it had the "old" 5.0 V-8 (no plastic intake runners) with the new for '90 body style. The rear air-suspension often fails, but we replaced them with conventional shocks. I had a '92 Crown Vic, great car and somewhat better handling than the Town Car. The 4.6 was a better engine for these cars, very smooth and responsive.

i love these so much, and im a young person, but the difference is mine was 8k in 2022, not super happy about that but the car is near mint with the LWB and a back landau top. just make sure you take care of the gasket where the cabin air intake is, as every single towncar will have a bad one sooner or later, and my 07 just had to have the gasket replaced, and the seats and floor taken out to drain the water and dry the soaked carpet. so definitely avoid that headache if you can

Great cars, low priced, famously reliable, parts are plentiful and mostly cheap.
Easy to find them with low miles, super clean and in great shape because many are/were owned by easy-driving older folks -- *plenty* of room, huge trunks, not packed with tech (which means less stuff to break) but just enough luxury to please (leather, heated seats, old school clock in the middle of the dash, etc. )
Mine has traction control that can be turned on/off and when I hit the blinker a light illuminates in the direction I'm turning. Another neat thing that some folks don't know about is that I can cut the radio on with the car off and key out.... but when I open the door it automatically cuts the radio off so that I don't leave it on by accident.
Cruises down the road like a recliner on a cloud, perfect for long trips.
Dammit, just wish my 07 had the sun-roof!
    Rear wheel drive, body-on-frame built.
And hey, if you wanna pimp it out... throw some 22s or spokes on it 👍.
    Love mine.
As for the reliability -- yeah, plenty of em with several hundred thousand miles used as livery cars.
    Two thumbs up.

While I am not personally a fan of the looks of the last generation Lincoln Town Car (something about the tail lights just don't look right to me), I agree that the Panther Platform IN GENERAL is a really good car to have as a daily, and the Town Car has quite a lot of useful bits to offer to those driving the Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis (I personally being the proud owner of an '09 Crown Vic P71). Would be nice to get some parts from the Town Car to upgrade the interior of my Crown Vic some day, especially if I can get electric, heated seats and the center console.

Nice video -great cars! Another great bargain car to look out for though is the underrated 95-02' Lincoln Continental with the 32v Intech. Very ballsy -durable motors, (275hp 98 to 02) shared with the Mustang Cobra, Mark 8, Navigator and police interceptor. Did not have any of the GM Northstar teething issues which are all in the junk heap now, why you see so few of them around anymore:-) Have a loaded 02' Conti' I bought in 2012 with 44K mikes! -107K now, and still in near mint shape -gets decent mileage -a little better than a Town Car, and the thing is actually quick and very comfortable. Also can tow with these- do have a class II hitch on mine. Highly recommend this car as an alternative, getting a little harder to find now but you occasionally find old lady driven ones for pretty cheap and in good shape, like the Town cars.

for myself. You can find some German cars within that budget, but for the parts? they are way more expensive.
Your video is 3 years old so the budget went up a little higher but not by much. I'm finding out that a lot of younger people like yourself are driving these around and that's cool. It was either passed on from their grandfather or father as their first car even. It can also be that they are finding one out there used. That
old saying "They Don't Make It Like This Anymore" is very true. Proof is in the pudding that they are still out
