Like when you think about it from Eddie viewpoint if they leave either the bats can get through the portal and cause them and enter the town or they go back to the house and attack Steve and them. Plus, if Eddie goes back he will always be on the run wanted for the murders, they already believe him to be guilty, this is the 80s, they dont give a fuck so he did something he thought would be useful to them and wanting to change and not run and be a coward anymore. He doing this shit for Chrissy too, thats still heavy on his mind. Eddie is definitely an unsung hero

A nation gripped by Satanic Panic as the backdrop, too. Remember he sees yet another young girl in imminent danger, with him being the only one there to help. It’s easy for him to believe he’s in the right.
