The Angel of death is Siobhan Fahey of Bananarama who was married to Dave Stewart of Eurythmics and the lover is Marcella Detroit who has had a long career in music herself
@@MGrayl-ib5fo It's not me, it's a fact. Look it up. She stated in an interview, that she had long waiting periods during filming, and she drank vodka during the breaks.
@@TucBroder And if you want to know even more trivia the guy in the video is David-Scott Evans, who used to date Bananarama member Keren Woodward back in the 80's and is the father of her only child.
Formed in the UK, the duo are Marcella Detroit (American) who was the first vocalist and Siobhan Fahey (Anglo-Irish and ex-Bananarama) who was the Angel of Death. They had other hits but that was by far their biggest. They were only together as a duo for four years before falling out.
The grieving lover is Marcella Detroit and is an incredible singer and songwriter. She wrote Lay Down Sally, a hit for Eric Clapton. The other girl (Death) is Siobhan Fahey, who you've actually seen before when you reacted to Bananarama (Venus and Cruel Summer). Love this song!
This song used to scare the heck outta me & my sis as young kid's 🤣 clicked on it as not heard it in forever. My big sister passed age 19, I was 18... Memories ❣️
Shakespeares Sister was started by Siobhan Fahey and was meant as a solo act. But Marcella Detroit (born Marcy Levy) was working on the first album, as were many others. Dave Stewart first suggested it, then the record label convinced Fahey to form a duo with Detroit. Fahey reportedly wasn't overly happy with the idea but accepted the situation. The band was somewhat successful. But this song was a monster hit, and that video helped. Suddenly people who were unaware of the band previously thought Detroit was the main component. This was shattering for Fahey, who felt like her brain child was being taken away from her. There was a lot of arguments and Detroit was fired from the band. The women didn't speak to each other for over 25 years. Fahey released several more albums, all more alternative and rock oriented -- which is what she had always wanted. It's why she'd left Bananarama, which started as a punk band before the label changed their image. Fahey and Detroit finally reunited in 2019. They released some new stuff and have said there will be more music to come. Whether there will be remains to be seen. Covid knocked a lot of plans askew.
Marcella Detroit…American legend ,been in the biz for decades and worked with many a top wig in the industry..swear to God she’s got a photo in the attic ❤️🤘🏻💪🏻
Shakespears Sister was originally a solo project for Siobhan Fahey after Bananarama. Her then husbond David A. They recorded Sacred Heart 1989 and Hormonally Yours 1992. Detroit left and Fahey continued recording #3 2004 and Songs From The Red Room 2009. I had the SAME reaction when I first saw it!!! 😂 I didn't see it until a few years ago because I was one of those rare people without cable in the 90s. Lol I saw MTV now and again and eventually, my family got DISH in 2000. Anyway, I was watching MTV classic and this video came on. I was like, WHOA! What is THIS?! Between the gorgeous vocals and the elaborate video, I was in awe! When the second part happened, I about fell off the couch! Lol I asked friends about it and they all remembered it with similar reactions back then. Rightly so! This video is AMAZING! One of my favorite German Goth bands L'Äme Imortelle. Also a nice cover.
It's about a woman in the hospital and her boyfriend or husband is dying and the darker singer is death coming for him and she fights off death. Also the singer playing death, Siobhan, was in Bananarama
This song spent a blockbusting 8 weeks at No.1 in the UK in 1992. A classic! Thanks for reacting. Also worth checking out by Shakespear's Sister: Hello (Turn Your Radio On), I Don't Care, You're History. And by the 1st vocalist Marcella Detroit: I Believe.
*Fun fact* The shoot for this video took way longer than expected, and everybody was getting bored, so Siobhan (the second female performer) went for a wander within the town, found a bar and got absolutely smashed on vodka. When she showed up to do her part she could barely stand up, but they went with it and the result was brilliantly and hilariously over the top.
2 main albums of theirs which I bought in late80s/90s were 'Sacred Heart' and 'Hormonally Yours'. 'Stay' was a big hit in the UK and was on the Sacred Heart album.
Its too bad we can't see the video, I love how they told the story with the dark(death) woman coming to take the other woman's man who is dying. The whole song is beautiful and eerie :)
Haven't heard this song in years, Marcella Detroit the singer at the start, always loved her voice. Another good singer is Neneh Cherry with the song called Buffalo Stance. 😎👌
Great reaction. The second women was "The Angel of Death"..... She came to claim the guy. But the the first singer would not have it. She "sang" him back from the edge...... Death just walked away. Knows she will get them both............ Eventually........ ha ha
The video is a woman tending to her dying partner, begging him not to die and leave her. The Angel of Death turns up to claim his body, they fight over the man, but the love of the girl wakes him from his coma and the Angel of Death has to leave.
It was a real shame the video was blocked but as I knew it well it didn’t matter. Your reaction was if anything even better 🤣 They were a duo who released an album called Hormonally yours which this is from and things looked bright for them but internal problems wrecked it all and they broke up. Although I believe they have reformed again. Great reaction 👍🏻
1 is American and 1 in English, they're still together today my brother interviewed one of them. My older brother still can't watch this because it scared him so much 😂
I don't think Siobhan Fahey would be impressed being called English as she was born in County Meath, Ireland though has spent most of her life in England so she might accept Anglo-Irish 😆 🤣.
Good song, good pipes on these two ladies. It's possible to sing for one person, but a bit challenging 😘 Nah, they were a bit more than a one hit wonder... all though this was their only #1 hit. It stayed as #1 in the UK for 8 weeks. And they got awards and a lot of good. Internal disagreement turned the duo from Sisters to Sister, but think they were united in 2018 and released a new song in 2019.
This song dominated the charts when I was like 6 or 7, and the whole angel of death thing used to make me hide behind the sofa. Scared the life out of me 😂 weirdly enough, my first TV crush that I remember, probably around the same time-ish, was that girl out of Bananarama.
