I love how anytime VLDL has a shady or insane character, they always have a Southern American accent. As a southern American I just have to say, spot on.
I was getting very frustrated with The Sims at one point. Used a few hacks to explore possibilities and max out. This helped me discover what I had been doing wrong before, so I reloaded the game without the hacks and got a lot more enjoyment from it.
I would also say that hacking, cheat codes, etc... are fine in single player games (so long as they are not used for speedruns, achievements, or things of that nature). I tend to prefer strategy games, but if someone wants to play through a singleplayer shooter with unlimited ammo, extra health, or something similar: I wouldn't have a problem with it. I might question why someone wanted to spend their time that way if it made the game too easy, but wouldn't call it wrong. There have been lots of single player games which I've modded and enjoyed the modded version more than the default. Now, modding usually adds new things rather than just taking what's already there and giving it unlimited health/ammo/etc... (that tends to be more cheat codes/hacks).

Playing on my friend's NG+ though, with an infinite Chicago typewriter, or an unlimited handheld rocket launcher, I get to play through some wild stories and not get gribbled in the face every encounter. I recently platinumed Saints Row '22, no difficulty trophies, didn't bother it that I was using auto/sticky-aim throughout. Still felt like a BOSS, but I'm sure 90% of gamers would disagree. Completely agree on your other points though - Cheating as fine as long as the only person you're cheating is your AI opponent. Though most modern games I've seen with built in cheat menus will turn off trophies/cheevs and saving when you activate them, Even making Edward Kenway say piratey things blocks you getting trophies on AC IV...

So he's not a core member. But in your case, i'd understand too. He's a core member in a way that he comes back now and then. Byron and Hamush are commonly used to play meek characters, but when they play bad asses, they stand 10 feet tall. It takes a lot of skill to look down on someone taller than you and they pull it off awesomely.

I also appreciate the twist ending, even though Rowan would still buy the infinite health hack to prove his theory right, about being able to beat the boss that way. I feel he has pent up resentment from losing too many arguments with Ben, to pass up an opportunity to be right.

Science based approaches like giving people enough information to make informed decisions with efforts to regulate the potency of drugs, as well as making safe places where drug addicts can feel comfortable discussing their addition and requesting rehab without being judged. Doing so would decrease the number of people addicted to drugs and avoid situations where people realize they are being lied to about the drugs. When people are lied to or given only biased information, then when they realize that they were manipulated they will likely believe the opposite of what the source had told them. There are many examples with religion where a pastor lies to children and hides information that contradicts what they preach, there are many examples of children who find out that they were lied to and they completely leave the religion.

I 100% agree with that message. Hacking has driven people away from almost any kind of MMO in the past, and ruins games. It is not the same thing as modding, and I hope people can understand that. Modding is on your own game to give you and only you the tools to play how you want, whether it be pretty hair packs or a special sword. Hacking is in multiplayer games, and only gives you the bonus, not the others. Major difference. As a modder of games like Skyrim, XCOM, and others... please know the difference. Would you say people exploiting/abusing glitches in multi-player online games were as bad? They are different from hacks, right? I've run into a few different games where people did that, thought that was why the majority of people left because a lot went unfixed.
@@tepangora1388Depends entirely on the type of glitch. If it's something harmless, like glitching animations to T-Pose on your enemies - no harm. If it's some glitch on economy or combat that let's you gain big advantage - basically cheating with less steps.

Sometimes it is more obvious, let´s say a dev does an update and now suddenly you can make infinite money by duplication, this is clearly a glitch that can fall into the cheat category. But let´s say the game DbD where some characters can traverse the map by gliding on the surfaces of some objects (but not all of them), and it has been inside the game for many years, is this now a glitch, a cheat or a feature? No clear answer here.

*CORRECTION:* Hacking in *MULTIPLAYER* games ruins the fun, if you are playing single player and there is no carry over of items to the multiplayer scene, then who is anyone to tell someone how to have their fun.
That's implied/not always, plus it'd hurt the delivery of message going for this half-allowing. If someone is cheating in single-player game intended to be based on player's skill and than goes bragging about "beating the boss" pretending he did it himself and concealing fact of any external stuff used - that's same cheater. Yeah, there are enough "casual" games in which cheating have no difference(like gta), but there are also plenty skill-based games which losing their entire meaning if cheats are applied.
Instead of ending it like a PSA. I'd have seen him get his magical powers, find that nobody wants to play with him, the game loses all of its challenge and charm - and he just quits. Because fuck it : There's no point anymore.

Debug mode isn't really hacking. Hacking would be accessing the debugmode when you're supposed to be locked out of it, such as world of warcraft

the whole dare campaign actually had no scientific backing, and actually resulted in a large waste of money for either no benefit or a negative result. The whole thing was put together from Christian groups and those like them because of moral outrage, the same sort of groups that burned D&D books and lead campaigns against kids playing it. Science based approaches like giving people enough information to make informed decisions with efforts to regulate the potency of drugs, as well as making safe places where drug addicts can feel comfortable discussing their addition and requesting rehab without being judged. Doing so would decrease the number of people addicted to drugs and avoid situations where people realize they are being lied to about the drugs.
When people are lied to or given only biased information, then when they realize that they were manipulated they will likely believe the opposite of what the source had told them. There are many examples with religion where a pastor lies to children and hides information that contradicts what they preach, there are many examples of children who find out that they were lied to and they completely leave the religion.

I 100% agree with that message. Hacking has driven people away from almost any kind of MMO in the past, and ruins games. It is not the same thing as modding, and I hope people can understand that. Modding is on your own game to give you and only you the tools to play how you want, whether it be pretty hair packs or a special sword. Hacking is in multiplayer games, and only gives you the bonus, not the others. Major difference. As a modder of games like Skyrim, XCOM, and others... please know the difference. Also, loved this skit. Thank you.
I despise hackers, but I have no issue with modders, although I personally prefer not to use mods. I always have problems when I use them :P
It's also what leads to an arms race leading to invasive anti-cheats and stuff. No one wins in the end.
Would you say people exploiting/abusing glitches in multi-player online games were as bad? They are different from hacks, right? I've run into a few different games where people did that, thought that was why the majority of people left because a lot went unfixed.
@@tepangora1388Depends entirely on the type of glitch. If it's something harmless, like glitching animations to T-Pose on your enemies - no harm. If it's some glitch on economy or combat that let's you gain big advantage - basically cheating with less steps.
@@tepangora1388 Very much a greyzone since it is something inside the game, not a 3rd party software.. and the line between a glitch and a "feature" is sometimes far from clear.
Sometimes it is more obvious, let´s say a dev does an update and now suddenly you can make infinite money by duplication, this is clearly a glitch that can fall into the cheat category.
But let´s say the game DbD where some characters can traverse the map by gliding on the surfaces of some objects (but not all of them), and it has been inside the game for many years, is this now a glitch, a cheat or a feature?

Also, when I found out just how prolific hacking is and just how much it does ruin gaming my mind was blown! I mean, Titanfall, an entire game was brought to its knees over it and for awhile, so was Titanfall 2! Hacking literally ruins games!
PS: Also, I got over the need to hack when I was like, 15 years old. Some part of me was just like "If not by my own skill, then what is the point?" which, buy the way, is also why I never buy into the "Free to Pay" games either. Skill or nothing. Instead, I give all that money I save to Viva for that sweet sweet powercoin!!!

*CORRECTION:* Hacking in *MULTIPLAYER* games ruins the fun, if you are playing single player and there is no carry over of items to the multiplayer scene, then who is anyone to tell someone how to have their fun.
That's implied/not always, plus it'd hurt the delivery of message going for this half-allowing.
If someone is cheating in single-player game intended to be based on player's skill and than goes bragging about "beating the boss" pretending he did it himself and concealing fact of any external stuff used - that's same cheater.
Yeah, there are enough "casual" games in which cheating have no difference(like gta), but there are also plenty skill-based games which losing their entire meaning if cheats are applied.
