between that and just playing youtubes algorithm. It promotes newer videos over the old. Meaning if you aren't constantly putting out new uploads, you arent grabbing people's attention.

Seriously, that was awesome. Though maybe he didn’t need to put the difficulty all the way down. Usually I just ease it down bit by bit until it’s manageable.

The crew all have such good acting skills but when it comes to self-deprecating and overtly goofy powerful men roles, no one does it better than Hamish... I swear he would win an oscar if he made a movie career 😂 he's so damn good...

@@LostWhits doesn't it also low-key annoy you a bit that for all the high quality make up and acting, they only put out like 5 minute skits at most? I can't count the amount of times I literally get frustrated that the videos aren't longer than they are!

Oh I feel that. I feel it so much. I remember it strikingly from Breath of Fire 3. It’s been decades and I still remember it clearly.
Ryu, the player character was fighting a gladiator called Garr in an arena. Ryu had the ability to transform into a dragon. In secret Garr was a dragon slayer so he compelled Ryu to fight with all his strength. A scripted loss.
While Garr was legitimately strong, if you spent enough time levelling up you would be strong enough to beat him. Right up until the game, and him, says “enough of this” and strikes Ryu down in a single blow with impossible HP damage you’d be hard pressed to get it even at the end of the game.
That scary boss turned nerfed party member brings up a few angry memories.
I wish I could reexperience Shadow of War once again. The absolute annoyance of killing thay one orc who could damn near one shot me, just to turn on my side and get shotted himself by a weaker orc.
This is almost every Final Fantasy game.
"You beat me near to death! You're fortunate I'm even here to help you. It will take until after the game is over to recover my strength!"
Yeah that's actually a final fantasy Trope where the powerful boss turns into a crappy party member after you beat him. Like what happened to all the cool skills that you trashed my party with?

Pros: Buffs, heals, protects, debuff enemies, restore mana for mages.
Cons: They are weaker in everything above than any other class
Production-value and acting is actually so high quality that you could make feature-film, love to see a full length fantasy-comedy by you guys! Excellent work!

NGL, their skits are so well done I genuinely wish they'd have more series instead of skits that build on each other. But I'm also aware that is a very time- and labor-intensive process and I don't want them to get overburdened.

12:37 this is probably my favorite VLDL skit of all time. It perfectly captures what I did on my last Skyrim run 😂 totaled up 9 followers... every time I loaded into a new area, I'd have to go back, then reload the area, just to get all of them wherever I was going, because I'd always be missing at least 1 or 2 🤣

Lowering the difficulty really does feel like a different boss fight
Rewatching the second short I now realize it was Rowan being the dark general when I'm so used to Ben being the Death Knight!
All skits are awesome, but "Difficulty Slider" may just be my most favorite VLDL skit of them all. Pure gold.

If the bard doesn't make them all at least 33% stronger, it would be more efficient to just replace him with another fighter.

Schmerlock the high warlock of arakite has the ability to switch that damage taken between him and his opponent, this of course means he allows you to damage him because it’s all a part of his plan.
When you fight him for real you have to first destroy the hidden away artifact that allows him to use this ability causing him to fight you at a portion of his potential, and I say a portion as he is still canonically rusty as his artifact has caused him to not have to fight anything properly for many years.
Don’t sleep on Schmerlock.
Completely forgot that Bonecaller was the one scared of undead. And Greg laughing himself half dead about him. That sets an interesting background for the current place in the DnD campaign 😁

This compilation reminds me of DMCV when you get to play as Vergil and he's still ridiculously overpowered and just an antithesis to all these tropes
for the short when he turns down the difficulty, he was only at mid difficulty and the downgrade was enormous so i'd be afraid to see what the hardest difficulty was >.

I had a recent scripted loss I absolutely despised. It was in Digimon Survive in the Harmony route, the enemy I fought I had done good leveling up my party and was wiping the floor with the guy and suddenly my entire team was on the ground, and he was like "This is what you get for attacking me" and I was "But I was wiping the floor with you" O.O
The "Summoning the Meteor" scene was actually a pretty epic scene if it went the way they thought it was gonna go, the sacrifice woulda been pretty Nobel.

It reminded me of old Final Fantasy games, 7 especially... You're summoning giant meteors, black holes and who knows what else multiple times per fight and there's absolutely no effects...
If there is a better ineffectual villain anywhere than Hamish, I'd ride out to vanquish them. I should also add he is the best Souls NPC ever too!
The Kill Steal reminds me of a case from City of Heroes where one player refused to join any of the teams fighting Lusca and once the giant octopus was finally defeating, he went around calling out on broadcast that he had soloed Lusca.... not that that changed the reward he got... but still very eye roll inducing. Given there were literally 24+ other players involved in the same fight. At least three whole full-sized teams.
He can delude himself all he wants but the entire sever knew and rolled their eyes
Amazing skits! It's hard to highlight only one but "difficulty slider" is incredibly great. And also I want to see the vomiting necromancer again 😆
I used to propose that games should have an easy mode and a "game journalist" mode that is even easier and has things like that since they constantly complain games are hard because they want to finish reviews fast and games that need more time to defeat annoy them.

This is getting me one of my awesome ff14 memories. I was a reaper and the other teammates were white mage and red mage. At the last boss, a tank died and I immediately got aggro. White mage immediately tried to keep me alive and red mage resurrected a tank. We finished the game and before leaving, we all bowed to each other. That felt good.

There are two opposite ends of scripted losses. You have to beat a highly difficult boss in order to lose, an actual loss in the fight means game over. The other end, the game expects you to lose, and that's fine, but if you win they get reinforcements to win, and drop great loot for your achievement.

The "teamwork" skit is my favorite. The music and choreography was very well done! And of course, the humor!
That last one reminds me of Asheron's from 20 years ago. High level players go to starter towns, let a bunny kill them, leveling the bunny hugely. Then sit back and watch noob player corpses pile up in front of said bunny.

Scripted losses after you stun-lock or parry-spam a boss always got me laughing, ah yes and kill-steals... I know why I prefer the majority damage version where the one that did the most damage gets it while the last-hit just gets an exp bonus or some such.

Kill Steal: Ben - "Please tell me that this is a PvP game...Please..." Well, you don't hear it but you know he's thinking it.
That scripted loss hurts... sister was playing one of the older Star Wars rpgs and almost beat this main Sith baddie in one of these "run around and survive before you can escape" kind of areas... straight up two-shot the Sith, and proceeded to wait around and see if they would still trigger the cutscene despite being one shot away from dying... seems they still had to run though, which was rather funny. It's always great when a game gives you something in exchange for beating a powerful character before their end-game boss fights such as how if you successfully defend your master in the opening of Sekiro you get a different cutscene where the enemy falls seemingly dead before coming up from behind to still take your arm.
Words cannot express how much I love this group of people, especially Hamish.
Whats funny about the Dark Lord General fight was that it was actuslly a bug within the game, where the hard and normal setting for him was switched. If You upped the difficulty slider to Hard, you would actually be fighting the Normal difficulty variant instead. I remember trying to figure it out my self. Nit sure if it was patched or not.
The part where Ben gets his kill stolen from him by and Archer, actually ticked me off because it broke back memories of other people actually doing stuff like that.. lol
Back in the early Everquest years Bards were known to have been able to play multiple songs at the same time, so much that an experienced player could have four songs running at the same time. The art of doing this was known as "Twisting".
Best channel i followed in the past 3 years. Allways entertaining, great humor, alot of different types of videos (bored series are my favourite), and very creative. 💯

Monster Hunter has the right idea
A giant hunting horn that plays songs to buff the party but lest the monster forget, it is still a giant bonk stick and hits pretty hard

everyone makes fun of the bard because the concept of "magic music" sound lame or whatever, but in literally every game I have played with a bard, they are OP as hell! Also in D&D writing a backstory for a bard is really fun!
I never learn how to play D&D.
And I don't think I would be any good at that.
But I do like how other people like it and tell about their own experiences with it.
It could be fun to do it with a group of friends someday

If you're getting 1 shot by a boss, chances are you're probably not meant to fight them. Hell, even in souls games bosses don't one shot
Not true. A lot of souls games have one shots on highest difficulty. Even the first boss in Assasin’s Creed Valhalla one shorted me with his hammers on the highest difficulty. Maybe you mean on normal difficulty, in which case, I apologize for misunderstanding.
I haven't seen the Cannon Fodder one before. Alan, Adam, Rowan, and Hamish made me hurt myself from laughing with their battle cries.

32:04 and this is why individual loot drops are the best way to do it, instead of everyone getting access to a single cache of loot, causes so much fights. When you get your own loot cache there’s no fighting for stuff, if someone got lucky then that’s nice, but yoi don’t fight over it
I would love to see you guys do a monster, hunter world, or Iceborne video game role-play where the hunting horn replaces the bard and can buff and heal the party and do great amounts of physical damage
When you lower the difficulty for a tough fight, remember to raise it again before getting your rewards. That way you don't have to face them on the lower setting.
Yep, as someone who has lowered the difficulty level many times during a tough fight, that was a rookie mistake.
