The album was recorded last summer when Loreena performed at four folk festivals in Ontario, Canada. It’s a joyous return to her roots, a kind of musical winding back to the beginning of her career, her earliest days on the folk circuit and its characteristic culture of community.
The Road Back Home is available on CD, 180-gram black vinyl, via digital music services (including Dolby Atmos) and in retail stores. The album features 10 songs, many of which have remained unrecorded until now.

Finally! Thank you, Loreena. I still remember seeing you live in the Schleyerhalle in Stuttgart - when the girl in front of me whispered to her boyfriend :"Wow, totally the wood faerie!"^^ Me and my companion were so gripped by your performance that we couldn't talk for half an hour after leaving the concert hall.
New music (yay!) and a memory stirred by this interview. At the end of our local weekend bluegrass festival, all of the remaining artists would gather on stage to play & sing 'Will the Circle be Unbroken' - and while they played the audience joined hand in a circle. We sang along & danced first to the left & then back to the right in our circle. It brought us all together in a way nothing else could.

I’ve been listening to her music for 30 years. My children were raised with it. My eldest son took me to her live in concert in Dec. (‘23) and it was Absolutely fabulous .
I love your message. Much like the land, and indeed our very lives, music has been commoditized and capitalized, leaving our souls hollowed out and devoid of its magical quality to bind us together as one.
Music is the language of togetherness. It is the language of wholeness.
If i were to trace in my life where my love of music came from, where my appreciation of artists with true talent was born, its Ms. McKennett and her ensemble. They write their own music, play multiple instruments and reimagine music and poetry of the past, making them true artists in a world of mechanically enhanced amateurs.
Real old world masters of their craft.
And if this comment should find is way to them, I would like to say thank you for this lifetime gift not just for me, but one i shared with my children.

I am a retired public music educator, having taught K-12. In my elementary classes, I embraced and taught folk songs, and sent my students home to sing (and sometimes play) for their family and friends. None of the joy of music and music-making was lost on them, and to this day, I continue to hear back from many of my students with notes (no pun intended) of appreciation how there lives have been enlarged because of the music they had learned. I have sent my students into the world with the tools of making music for themselves, and others. This joy is not lost, the "embers" just need a little fanning of inspiration. Dear Ms. McKenna, you have been, and continue to be, an inspiration. Thank you.

I’ve been a fan since 1991. I just saw her live again this past fall. She was exceptional, as always. Wild Mountain Thyme is one of my favorite songs. It is an emotional experience for me to listen to ANYONE singing this song, and Loreena’s version does not disappoint. I’m very much looking forward to the new album!

Loreena is 100% spot on everyone should be encouraged to pick up an instrument and give it a go, as a guitar player I am always on at the kids I work with to learn one doesn't matter what instrument it is get stuck in its a wonderful pastime to have.

I think Loreena has finally completed a circle in her musical carrer. And what a circle has it been!
There and back again...back to her celtic roots, but full of memories, experience and knowledge.
The journey is never over of course, I cannot but admire the route she has followed to find her musical haven.
I just love her so much, she is the reason that I turned into a folk music fan.
I will see and hear you in Vienna - March 24 and perhaps in Munich in July. I look forward with a lot of joy.

When you say there's nothing like playing music you're right. When I was in a band we played an all day event for Iran that had a huge earthquake. The last 4 hours was local bands, we were second from the end, the crowd was estimated at 5 thousand, there's no feeling like it.

I almost traveled to one of these festivals from Michigan but wasn't able to, so what a joy to have them recorded live for your wider audience! Oh Loreena! You are such an inspiration! My online school teacher, Bridget Nutting, showed me your beautiful music. She was of Celtic descent and really held onto her heritage. She was a blessed soul. I found out she passed on and it broke my heart, but I think of her whenever I hear your music. I bet she is looking down excited for another album too ❤️ can't wait Loreena! Much love! Also I've always loved singing but never was in choir long enough to train my voice well. I love your encouragement that we all join in and not just be spectators! So encouraging!
