This one is just a gritty masterpiece. Zep just knew how to take a slower tempo song and make it pound. That bass man that bass. Everything;s just awesome. Easily One of my favs.
That bridge where he just sort of hits that pedal tone keeping the beat...That's just masterful and a great example of how that particular usage of the bass should be done...
The Rover has always been one of my LZ favorites! It's nice to see a young listener who appreciates the music that has been the soundtrack of my life. There's other music I like -- old and new -- but I always come back to Zep! Hope it brings you as many years of joy as it has brought me.
Like I said it's a power play. Each song on this album gets better and better. It's a teaser. Wait the best has yet to come. But still never a bad song on any of there albums. There just that talented. Doing great job. I do listen to alot of different music but zepp is my favorite of all time. Can't get enough even after 50 years
This was a song left over from the Headley Grange sessions for Led Zeppelin 4. All I can say is there's maybe only that album that could possibly be so brilliant that there wasn't room for this masterpiece.
You said at one point that you liked the drums and you didn't know if we were paying attention to them. You can't _HELP_ but hear and pay attention to Bonham's drums. They _DOMINATE_ every song. He is the best (and most recognizable) drummer ever.
I’ve literally watched ALL of your Zeppelin reaction videos and you’re by far the best on RUclips. Genuine enjoyment and appreciation of the greatest rock music in history. This album is just nothing but hits. Some of Zeppelin’s biggest songs. Can’t wait to see what you think. Looking forward to seeing you react to their concerts. They take these songs to another level, live!
All time Favorite comin' UP ! Already got Goosebumps ! Dang....you still got Ten Years Gone and Kashmir coming up ! BTW watching Led Zeppelin Bootlegs on YT. 1975 SEATTLE. WOW !
This song started off as an acoustic piece in 1970. In 1974, it was re-recorded and found its way onto Physical Graffiti. The song is an underrated Zeppelin masterpiece.
The more you listen to this song and the next one, the more u will like them. This song has so many layers to it and that "dirty" guitar will grow on you. Especially when u listen more carefully when it fades out. But the star of the sow and this al um is Bonzo. You may love the guitars but the more u listen the more the drums stand out. This song would be a big hit on most any other album but it is overshadowed by what's to come. The next song is a true sleeper that never got played on the radio. But again the more u hear it the more u tend to like it. For many years it was my favorite Zepp song. That changes which one from time to time for me. But it still is a top 2-4 Zepp song for me. The live version from Earls Court is one of their best live performances ever.
Hey Silas, Ned n Janet from España here. Yet another winner of both the song and your reaction. It's my opinion that you should listen to it a couple of times, as it hits so hard it kind of takes your breath away. It sounds so big and dense but it's just them with an added guitar playing high harmonies during the chorus. Great solo as usual, JPJ is hard at work, Bonzo's playing crushingly hard but swingin and it's one of Plants best vocals. The album needs many listens and some patience too. All success to you guys! Peace !
You look up "groovy" in the dictionary, it tells you to listen to this riff. It was originally conceived as an ACOUSTIC song, if you can believe it! Never a real radio hit, if you can believe THAT! Page COULD play fast--as hell! But he could create insanely good solos like this one, which isn't all shredding and such. It's--musical! Imagine that! If you love his high notes and solos, you're gonna really dig the next album: Presence!! "For Your Life" and "Nobody's Fault But Mine," to name just two, have killer solos!
I was 16(1975)and lived in the shadow of NYC, we had 3 great radio stations so besides my record collection, could tune in the car radio and just hear great music all day long. Of course we didnt know it was "Classic rock " , it was just our music and it was the best ever.
You mentioned liking to listen to each instrument. Same with me and I fell in love with listening to isolated drums, guitar, bass videos. With LZ + many others. There’s tons of isolated instruments videos on YT.
This is one of the great “ unknown” Zep songs. Originally recorded in 1972 for the “ Houses Of The Holy “ album, but left out for some reason ( but “ Dyer Maker was left in 🤦♂️ ffs)! The first minute or so was used in live shows in 1977 as the link between the opening number ( The Song Remains The Same) and the second song ( Sick Again), if you check out any 1977 USA tour bootlegs!!
Happy august 4th. 43 years ago today I was in a field at Knebworth House England waiting to see Zep again for the first time in 4 years here in the UK. And then a week later I was back there to see them again. Its great that you are discovering this band and you now see that each album was different to the last. That was made them so special, you just never knew what was coming with each release.
As an Ultimate Zep Head .. (Seen live twice...at your age) Easily my Fav. album. With two of my all time songs. next up. In My Time...._( HEAVY BLUES) And later on..Ten Years Gone __(Deep Ballad...react w/ GF ) Thanks for the fun!
You look like me when I first heard The rover back in the 70's. Though I had hair half way down my back then. If you like the drumming and want to see a live solo by John Bonham aka Bonzo, you should check Moby Dick at Royal Albert Hall 1970. Keep the Zep vids comin. Makes an old bloke happy.
This was the time when Zeppelin almost went supernatural in their ability to create timeless songs! Is supernatural a stretch? I don't think so! Never heard music like this before or after.
You can find isolated instrument tracks for most songs. I personally have listened to a number of Zeppelin songs, drums only. You might be able to pick out each of the instruments this way.
Enjoy Physical Graffiti, one of their best. In My Time of Dying and Kashmir I think are 2 of their all time greatest, saying a lot with this band. And make sure later you check out live Kashmir from their final concert dvd Celebration Day. Monumental. Epic. Goosebump performance. In My Time of Dying from same concert is great too fyi.
Another nice reaction from you to another masterpiece by the band. The Rover was recorded back in 1970 but didn't come out until the double album. Robert Plant's singing still sounds like it did on the first 4 albums. From Houses of the Holy his voice had changed. It's the same with another song on the album. Boogie with Stu was also recorded in the early 1970s.
Can not wait for you to get to In My Time of Dying.......hard to say, but I think Zepps best song ! Great guitar, great vocals/lyrics & my God the drums !!!
Thank you for all your Zeppelin reactions. I remember having a double 8-track recording of Physical Graffiti (that I wore out . lol) Please do some deep dives into Heart ❤️ 💙 🙏
As a drummer, my favorite Zep song to play is “Trampled Under Foot”. You won’t need to bother going to a gym to work out if you play that song a few times in a row. Watch the video on RUclips “Led Zeppelin Trampled Under Foot live at Earl’s Court 1975”.
LOVE! ❤ this tune!, really like the hard rock opening one two punch of this album. Just saw a video yesterday showing John Bonham as the back up vocals to Robert Plant on "The Ocean" 🌊Live!, I never knew Bonzo could sing?. He sounded awesome! 😄 I live close to the college area, hope the Aztecs do good this year Go! SDSU! Thank you Peace! ☮
Ok brother you love guitar so you have to hit Joe Satriani Surfing with the Alien, I'll let you in on a little secret, there are no credits for lyrics..... All guitar and some of the best rhythm guitar you'll hear. AFTER PG of course 🤘
It'll be interesting to learn if Led stays at the top for you like it does me after you are exposed to more greats. You love guitar solos - Wait until you get to SRV - the whole song is a solo!
You're probably gonna fall asleep on the next song, it's extremely slow, and there are no drums, it'll make you cough at the end .... .... okay so I lied !
I think it would benefit you immensely to read the lyrics as you react to get the FULL effect of Zeppelin's incredible talents. Great reaction Silas. Also, keep adding Olivia to the reactions... I love the interaction between you guys.
I’ve seen your reactions to the stuff I love, maybe it could inspire you to make some music yourself Have a listen to Greta van fleet/ highway tune. You may find interesting;)
Hey Silas! I was just wondering if there were any possible way to contact you through email for a possible promotion deal. I don't use (or particularly care to use) social media of any kind, and email is my only method of contact. If that won't work for you, I totally understand. If/when you get a chance, just let me know! Great video as always. Led Zeppelin just dominated every track they put out, even the ones that you can tell they were just having fun with.
yo girl is spankings you on stairway hey its like lady relators we don't or can't win HAHA your both grate check out brad and lex you could do more like them and B&L fire
Bring back UhLivee-uh !! We miss her input she rocks ! And I'm sure she'd love this gritty guitar ! BTW your "Stanky Mug" working good to this tune. Go back and checkout Jimmy Pages exit lead as the song fades out, the last 15-20 seconds 👍🏽
They just had so much power as a group. No weak links.
This whole album is unbelievable!!
The Rover has always been one of my LZ favorites! It's nice to see a young listener who appreciates the music that has been the soundtrack of my life. There's other music I like -- old and new -- but I always come back to Zep! Hope it brings you as many years of joy as it has brought me.
I’m 63, and my reaction in 1975 was the exact same as yours the first time I heard The Rover. Thanks for keeping it going.
One of the best albums from the 1970's this song came off.The magnificent Physical Graffiti !!!!!!!!!
Man, the whole Physical Graffiti album is just greatness!
iam 68 now this is what I was listening to when I was a teenager big Zeppelin fan
“The Rover” ….definitely one of Zeppelins best 50 songs. 👍
One of their top 3. For sure.
Like I said it's a power play. Each song on this album gets better and better. It's a teaser. Wait the best has yet to come. But still never a bad song on any of there albums. There just that talented. Doing great job. I do listen to alot of different music but zepp is my favorite of all time. Can't get enough even after 50 years
nah, this is the best song on the album...
-In the Light
-Kashmir
-In my time of dying
-Down by the Seaside
The Rover is great, come on Peter
The sound balance is much better -- Thanks Silas!!! 👍
This was a song left over from the Headley Grange sessions for Led Zeppelin 4. All I can say is there's maybe only that album that could possibly be so brilliant that there wasn't room for this masterpiece.
This song was actually recorded for Houses of the Holy. The song dates back to 1970, in basic form on acoustic.
Whether it was meant for IV or HOTH either way it could’ve replaced
-The Battle of Evermore
OR
-The Crunge
I really love this song. This whole album has layers of guitar, and the drums are great. A really great album!
That guitar outro, even after all these years, still makes the hair stand up.
One of the best outro's ever!
One of the most underrated songs in their catalog...The "if we could just, if we could just" part is one of my favorite Plant moments...
(cit.)
Always loved this song. Glad you do too!
Their best album. As great as every song is, my favorites are "Ten Years,Gone" and especially the last track "Sick Again".
I love this album. I'd still just put Led Zep 4 slightly ahead.
You said at one point that you liked the drums and you didn't know if we were paying attention to them. You can't _HELP_ but hear and pay attention to Bonham's drums. They _DOMINATE_ every song. He is the best (and most recognizable) drummer ever.
SILAS, if you want to get the full effect of “The Rover”, listen to loudly while you’re driving, especially fast on a road where you can let it rip.
Yeah yeah... yeah yeah... yeah yeah... yeah yeah!!! 🤩😎
One of my favorite led zep! Thanks for sharing. So nice to see kids listening to classics!
I’ve literally watched ALL of your Zeppelin reaction videos and you’re by far the best on RUclips. Genuine enjoyment and appreciation of the greatest rock music in history. The Rover is a LZ top ten banger !!
Most of the songs on this album just get better and better the more you listen to them. This is a GREAT song,,,💥💥💥👍😎
This is a Zep banger that I feel is underrated!!! It’s a musical masterpiece…like all of their music!
One of the best rock albums ever made. Period.
Great track, great album.
The more you listen to this song and the next one, the more u will like them. This song has so many layers to it and that "dirty" guitar will grow on you. Remember you have just started one of the best guitar albums of all time.... drumming ain't shabby either🤘
That guitar is just filthy!!🔥🔥🔥
I was 16(1975)and lived in the shadow of NYC, we had 3 great radio stations so besides my record collection, could tune in the car radio and just hear great music all day long. Of course we didnt know it was "Classic rock " , it was just our music and it was the best ever.
3:30 thats PERFECT!!!! thats what you should do with zeppelin because theres so much subtlety and texture behind the CRUSHING power
The solo on this is great...
One of my fav.
First heard this song in Sydney in 1972 as part of an extended Whole Lotta Love medley.
Wow!! I have no memory of this one. And, it felt different to me--🤪
Thanks for the post!

This album is very guitar driven.
Turn the volume down 😅😅😅. As a teenager this type of track from zeppelin just blew me away …goosebumps …
Always good to see you healthy my brother. More please

LOVE this track!
Moby Dick Royal Albert Hall live best drum solo ever! RIP John Bonham!
You can find isolated instrument tracks for most songs. I personally have listened to a number of Zeppelin songs, drums only. You might be able to pick out each of the instruments this way.
The second song on the album. I hope you have some kind of an idea of what you are in for. I could let this album play on a loop all day long.
Enjoy Physical Graffiti, one of their best. In My Time of Dying and Kashmir I think are 2 of their all time greatest, saying a lot with this band. Thank you for all your Zeppelin reactions. I remember having a double 8-track recording of Physical Graffiti (that I wore out . lol)
Please do some deep dives into Heart ❤️ 💙 🙏
8 tracks always changed tracks in the middle of the best songs
Funny thing is, saying you wore out an 8 track cassette really means nothing when 1/2 of them stopped playing after the first year lol 🤘✌️👍
@@viclagina347 I know, it was awful, then you'd have to adjust it so it'd play, insert an empty matchbook so it'd stay in place lol
Everybody is waiting for the Kashmir reaction but I can't wait till Silas hears Ten Years Gone
Wanton Song. For a drummer....or Achilles Last Stand. So fun to play.
As a drummer, my favorite Zep song to play is “Trampled Under Foot”. You won’t need to bother going to a gym to work out if you play that song a few times in a row. Watch the video on RUclips “Led Zeppelin Trampled Under Foot live at Earl’s Court 1975”.
After first time I had listened this other rock-bands seemed pop-bands to me
Wait until tomorrow 🤪
Best ever. Done.
Can't wait to get to Ten Years Gone 🙂
Wanton song is next, it’s my favorite from this album
LOVE! ❤ this tune!, really like the hard rock opening one two punch of this album. "My lover, she is lying on the dark side of the globe
If we could just join hands."
Embrace the dark side. We cannot be complete without it.
Ok brother you love guitar so you have to hit Joe Satriani Surfing with the Alien, I'll let you in on a little secret, there are no credits for lyrics..... All guitar and some of the best rhythm guitar you'll hear. AFTER PG of course 🤘

Play that lead note for note
What is Page using? A phaser or a flanger? Probably MXR.
Sounds a lot like the New Yard Birds
I think it would benefit you immensely to read the lyrics as you react to get the FULL effect of Zeppelin's incredible talents.
Great reaction Silas.
Also, keep adding Olivia to the reactions... I love the interaction between you guys.
Gotta play TRAMPLED under foot next bro. It’s like getting hit over the head with a sledgehammer,..
It is about the privateering ship.
Alivia is missing
I’ve seen your reactions to the stuff I love, maybe it could inspire you to make some music yourself
Have a listen to Greta van fleet/ highway tune. You may find interesting;)
I think rocking back and forth is screwing with your camera focus. But I understand, it's tough sit still with this!
Have you reacted to Kashmir yet
