    I find dips are so much better for your chest than push ups.

      Cruzan26 It all depends on what part of your chest you are trying to target, your experience level and the actual programme you are doing 💪🏾 I’ve made some of my greatest gains without doing dips for a year.

      I'd say they're better for lower chest at best.

      artandtech7211 Actually, contrary to popular belief they are quite useless at engaging the lower chest. What they are very good at engaging is the mid chest especially the outermost portion (where the chest inserts into the shoulder). Straight bar dips however can engage the lower chest better. Top tip; it’s easiest to train the lower chest on a pull-up bar.

    I like dips and i’m pretty good at them but sometimes I notice that I have been slacking on them. In my oppinion dips are the best way to grow strong triceps in calisthenics. And a great video Austin!

      JLethic obviously you have better genetics I seem to get strong at bodyweight moves and not grow how many dips can you do?

      @@josephbradshaw2240 kinda similar for me. I can do 50 dips in a row (good form) and my triceps are well developed but not huge or anything crazy

    Hey man, I always used to go to the gym, but recently started getting into calisthenics. I really appreciate your vids, and how you were saying in that one video how calisthenics is cooler than lifting because not everyone can move around like its zero gravity and do all those crazy moves. I am starting out with chin-ups and dips, and working my way towards typrewriter pull-ups and more advanced parallel bar techniques! I have subscribed!

    Chest routine (push ups)
    1) 2-2-2 (diamond,standard & wide)
    2) 3-3-3(diamond,standard & wide)
    3) 4-4-4 (diamond,standard & wide)
    4) 1-2-1-2-1 (diamond,standard & wide)
    5) same amount as four but it's 2-1.....
    6) 3-2-3 or 2-3-2(diamond,standard & wide)
    7) 4-3-4 or 3-4-3 (diamond,standard & wide)
    8) pyramid 1 -10 max. 1st (reps 1) diamond, 2nd (reps 2)normal,3rd(3reps) wide, 4th (4reps) diamond..... same method using dese variations till you get to 10 max. Use with incline or not tell me what you think

    I can do twenty dips but I can't do a single elbow extension pushup? You sure that's easier man? If their tricep is weak, I'm pretty sure that individual won't be able to carry their whole bodyweight with just the tricep.. just saying. (also I always lockout with my dips)

    I found doing dips after chest toward the end of a workout is of course harder and I'm not able to do nearly as many as I know I can do. How does doing them towards the end of a workout knowing I can't do as many hurt or help my chance of gains?
    I usually do several variations of pushups (weighted, wide, incline diamond, archer), pull ups (wide grip and weighted ) before I hit dips. By the time I hit dips my chest and tri' s are shot!

    I have been doing calisthenics for 3 months my diet is good,my sleeping schedule is good,and I do it everyday but only my chest got a little bigger but I haven't been seeing results anymore.

      doing it everyday will not help you...find a good workout routine and do it 3 or 4 times a week and don't be strict with your diet,just try to eat as healthy as you can...hope i helped you:)

    Ya tricep extentions are good for strengthening triceps but you need better forearm and shoulders to perform it correct or you will not get a tough tricep

    I could do dips and diamond push ups no problem. Then, after a month of not doing these exercises, there is a very sharp pain running below my lateral delts and a few inches below it. Its veyy sharp when i leave the bar, almost making me scream. What am i doing wrong?

      Mahatma_Gönndir Np, thats what shifts the focus from your chest to tricep, (if your elbows straight). Leaning foward targets more chest leaning straight focuses more on triceps.

    I could do 30 dips when I had access to parallel bars but now I only do straight bar dips and can do like 20 of them...Am I still maintaining my strength at dips?

    Main reason I suck at dips and pullups is because my right shoulder dislocated
