Hi, I'm Devi. Twenty years ago I was an addict with depression, anxiety and severe body pain. I was drawn to yoga for healing and recovery, but I kept finding myself in classes that increased my stress and insecurity with dogmatic alignment rules meant for people with very different bodies than mine.
I almost quit until I discovered the intuitive practice of Yin Yoga. With Yin, I learned to follow my instincts to connect with a deep well of inner resources for healing and recovery. Now almost 50, I’m devoted to sharing this approach to help others.
In 2003, soon after I began teaching yoga, I founded Tucson Yoga Studio and directed a staff of 10 teachers with a full schedule of Hatha, Vinyasa and Yin Yoga classes. We served over 20,000 students a year and we were Tucson's favorite yoga studio for many years.
I sold Tucson Yoga in 2012 and relocated to the San Francisco Bay area where I entered into extensive studies with Paul Grilley. I joined MC Yogi and Amanda Giacomini at Point Reyes Yoga as studio manager and director of the studio’s Yin Yoga Teacher Training program. I’ve now trained and certified over 200 yin yoga teachers since 2015.
Paul Grilley’s influence runs deep in my teachings. I was among the first Yin Yoga teachers that he certified at the 500 hour level in 2013, and I carry forth his life-changing approach to yoga alignment. I’m also greatly inspired by my meditation instructor Lorin Roche who is the author and translator of the Radiance Sutras.
After 20 years of teaching in-person and managing yoga studios, I'm now delighted to be doing all my teaching online, where I've been able to share yin and yang yoga with a global community of students and friends.
When not doing yoga you'll find me dancing, hiking and swimming naked near my home in Southern California.

As someone who has done Yin Yoga for many years, this was very educational. And a bit of a workout both physically and mentally. Being so attentive to the nuances. Continue to be surprised by the subtleties... slightest adjustment completely changing the sensation. Am able to 'go through the motions' with so many practices...not this one.

I honestly was drawn to how natural you look , you Seane and shiva , it’s not about make up or fancy gear or Botox it’s about yoga , I have been so turned off clicking yoga videos because of what it’s turning in to , nice to see someone producing yoga and it being about yoga ❤

Thank you so much for this, I'm so glad I found you as my menopausal fascia has been very stiff and painful and I love your practice.
Loved this class and the variations on the poses. I love the metaphor of fascia being like shrink wrap if we don't exercise it.
When I started yoga about 7 years ago I would have dismissed this style of yoga as 'nothing much is happening'. Now as I have stilled my mind and come more and more into the present moment I totally appreciate your method - really feeling into the body and noticing the nuances and subtleties, enjoying the time spent in one pose, it really feels therapeutic. Focussing on my breathing and physical sensations, one hour goes by in a wink of an eye. I would be very grateful if you could share what other forms of exercise you do, if any? Thank You so much. I practice Yin Yoga regularly, but this practice was wonderful. I felt sensations that I haven't felt in a long time, including being surrounded by light.
I don't normally comment on social media but here goes comment number 2! 😉 After doing yoga a few times a week for about 7 years I have progressed - strength, flexibility and balance - I have improved incrementally, no big leaps forward just regular practice. After doing this video yesterday, today I did a 75 minute regular yoga flow style class and I did notice that my body felt much looser and freer than normal, less inhibited in it's casing. There was a noticeable improvement and I was wondering if it was because of this fascia class, I can't think of any other reason. I have been doing some reading about fascia as I was completely clueless and I'm definitely going to focus on it going forward. So again, many many thanks. x
