      you wont be ever 'ready'. how can you be ready to the 'unknown'? one of my friend had the same 'be ready' type of thinking and he said now he is ready to have a child. guess what? first try - twins. and it got even better cuz one of them is boy and the other is girl so at one point they need separate rooms and they live now only in a house with 2 total rooms.

    I think Asian Boss needs to interview people in their 60s and 70s to find if people were glad they got married or not. If they they were happy with their decision and what their quality of life is like. I think it will give young people a greater perspective.

      @@aninani8294 i agree it sounds counterintuitive. but im sure a simple google search will allow you to see that in this complex world there are many grey areas, outlier cases, and paradoxical conclusions. the majority of people prob wont regret it if theyve stayed that long in a marriage. but its not difficult to see why in some cultures, countries, circumstances, it would not be the case. it seems like you need to think a little bit beyond your own bubble/country/circumstances. the world is more complicated than what your assumptions seem to imply.

      i think a lot of people don't get married because of the financial responsibility and lack of job security in south korea, so if this were the case, someone at the end of their life and career would show that this newer phenomenon doesn't apply to them so it's not really the same conditions...

    It's just one of the reasons women doesn't get marry/marry early these days. As a Korean women i think biggest reason Korean women doesn't marry is financial problem. People need money to get marry and raise the child. And our generation need more money to do that than older generation need. But it's hard to get a job and it's still getting hard to buy house in city. And most important reason that women doesn't get marry is most normal Korean women lose there job after they getting married and even if they didn't get fired after getting married they lose there job after they got pregnant, after they gave birth to child. It's hard to tell more specific

    I had a lot of long term relationships before I got married at 37. My wife is 5 years younger than me and before I met her I had to really hustle to find the right one to settle down with. I didn't have a lot of pressure from my parents but I created my own self imposed pressure because I knew 40 was around the corner. Had I not been pro active I would not have met my wife. Within our first year of marriage we had our 1st son and second son 2 years later. We are approaching our 5 year anniversary and it's been an incredible journey. It's a real challenge to raise a family, so I do respect that it's not for everyone because it's probably the hardest endeavor I have ever experienced. When I was a bachelor living my life, I was always about my own interests and pursuits...the last 5 years has been about giving my all for my sons and my wife in a 180 flip from my old self centered self.

      jeff jeff some people want kids and past a certain age you are no longer able to have kids. For women, past 35 is the danger zone for having children since there can be a lot of complications and health issues. For men, past 40 is when they will struggle to find a younger woman who is still able to have children, unless he is rich or exceptionally handsome

    • @BWT599
      @BWT599 4 года назад +26

      @@jeffjeff5719 I wanted a family and I have an older brother and sister who were married and have kids. I am Asian, so perhaps I did have some pressure to get married, but I'm the youngest in my family so there were already 5 grand kids. My father knew my wife when we were dating before he died. I was his principal care giver and she helped me tremendously during this time when my dad became sick. Before he lost his ability to speak he told me to not let my then girlfriend get away, to ask her hand in marriage. I was too concerned with his care to think about marriage etc but after he died I went through a very difficult period of grief and sadness since I was very close to my dad. My mom had been battling cancer and I wanted my mom to at least see her youngest child get married. I married my wife 18 months after my dad passed and we rushed to have our first baby so that my mom could have the chance to see our son. She continues to battle cancer but she's been able to see both of my sons to much of her delight. Regarding the age milestones of a woman, yep I did think about those things as a lot of people do, I.e. a woman after 35 is at more risk when giving birth etc. I met my wife when she was 28 and I was 34 and we dated for 4 years before getting married when I was 37. She never pressured me to propose but she was definitely feeling the biological clock ticking. She is mixed Asian (Japanese / Filipina) and I proposed in front of her parents with their blessing over a pancake breakfast at their house. They didn't pressure me either but were wondering what were my long term goals with marriage and family etc. I try to not have an opinion about when one should have kids etc, but my wife had very complicated pregnancies and if she was older, who knows what the outcome would have been. I have said raising a family has been my biggest accomplishment and challenge, mostly because I have been a stay at home dad since the beginning while working nights at home. My wife quit her job in June to be home with the kids, so it's been really great spending a lot of time with her and our two kids. My older sister lost her husband 2 years ago to cancer so I try to really cherish each day with my own family and while my elderly mom is still here with us. I really do believe, to each their own, but if you want to have kids and start a family...then sometimes a little pressure from family and society is just the right push into fulfilling that desire.

      Mate, there is a reason why across ALL cultures there is a massive pressure on women give birth early. Keep revolt against nature and you will suffer. Look up how many older women trying to get babies but can’t, it is just sad.
      Women are fertile from around up to 35. After that, having babies will become increasingly harder and don’t forget genetic issues that come with giving birth older too.

    • @Midna.K
      @Midna.K 4 года назад +47

      @@CTcCaster Shut up omg you wrote the same dumb comment somewhere else too. Let women do whatever they want with their lives and bodies, they aren't just walking vaginas existing to give birth to babies. Plenty of women don't even want babies. Why so pressed about what a stranger decides to do with her life? Lol.
      And men have the same problem too! Do you even know this?? Men's sperm quality decreases at age 35, it's not just women who have to worry about their ticking reproductive clock. Men's sperm quality deteriorates after the age of 35 and it becomes increasingly harder to get a woman pregnant, moreover your increasingly rotten sperm will cause a much higher risk of miscarriage and fetal death. So stop going around talking as if it's only our problem 😂
      The reason why there is a massive pressure on women compared to men it's the usual reason, misogyny and discrimination.

      @@Midna.K
      Saying the pressure to have children is unequal because of "misogyny" is an oversimplification in my opinion. Marriage maybe boiled down to that, but not childbirth. The investment and risks for men and women in childbirth just isn't the same.
      For example, there are literally no health risks TO an older man who's trying to get someone pregnant.
      And since pregnancy is ultimately a woman's decision, it makes no sense to try pressure a man to have children by a certain time...
      That being said I think information is better than pressure, as long as people are aware of their peak fertility window earlier on, it's on them to make the decision if and when, and for society to accept it.
      But until workplaces worldwide establish flexible work conditions for parents IMO it's too soon to say it's largely a decision being made on their own accord or simply a life choice based on limited options.
      For example, i'd imagine a lot of women who actually want children are forced to choose between children and a career due to inflexible work conditions.

    During childbirth, a woman can die. After giving birth, a woman can be susceptible to post-partum depression (in worse cases, it can quickly escalate into psychosis). A woman's career opportunities are very much limited by her pregnancy and motherhood. And women as mothers are generally expected by society to take care of the house and the family, confined to housewifery, a most oppressive form of servitude. As such, women should marry only if they themselves want to marry. It should not be forced upon themselves by their parents or by the society. It's high-time women start defying social conventions. We've been placed in this iniquitous situation for two millennia already. And if women decide to marry, they should choose men who are not sexists or those who will equally share in the domestic chores and parenting duties and those who will acknowledge and value their rights, dignity, freedom, physical integrity, and abilities/capabilities as women.

      Next look at jobs where social interaction is indispensable...teaching, nursing, medicine genrally...huge majority of women.

The fact that this unproven and unprovable myth still remains the prevailing view to this day tells well of the minimal change in the status and position of women in society. And btw, you included medicine in of the so-called woman-centred fields. Funny that some prestigious medical school in Tokyo, Japan rigged scores for decades to limit the no. of its women entrants. This video is so relatable. In every culture, there is just so much pressure on women needing to be someone or something at a certain age, at a certain point of their life. All being pushed to conform as to how society wants us to be. For some, it’s not just getting married, it’s also having kids and when we should start. Why do people think it’s ok for them to ask as to when will a couple or a person have kids over and over again. I understand it if someone asks once but too continuously pry. I don’t get it. It’s insulting and condescending in away when people think that they can ask you questions like that as if it’s such an easy life decision. Ugh! Anyways, Thank you Asian boss for another enlightening and somewhat infuriating video. Lol. Can you also do one video on people’s perspective about single people and married couples who does not want children? Im curious as to how different cultures see this ”phenomenon” as. I was beginning to think that I was the only single person my age (obviously I know that is not true but it does feel like it a lot of the times). I was born in the United States but have a Mexican family and at my age, Mexicans would expect me to already have 5 kids (or at least 3). And I am being serious when I say this. For Mexicans it is normal to get married and have kids even before you are 20 (18 and 19 years old). And I just think that is too young to get married. I believe that it is better for people to date a lot and get to know different people before settling on a marriage partner. Because if you marry young, you may later get tired/annoyed of the person you marry and will most likely end up getting a divorce. Also I think it is better for people to get a higher education first and even start their careers before getting married and having kids. I think it is important to be financially well in order to start a family.
