I have so much respect for Asian Boss and the way they interview everyone as politely and respectfully as possible. Every person they interview is treated with dignity even when many others would be cruel based off the subject matter. I love this channel.
Respect! I have been HIV-positive for 30 years now, and I had the same struggles when I found out. It's great that you are so open about it - and I hope you will have as fulfilling and joyous a life as I have had and still have. Lots of love!
Purely out of curiosity and I don't mean to be disrespectful at all. Do you know how you got infected with the virus? Was it through unprotected sex or some other way?
Nowdays it seems that HIV positive people live longer. Has this always been the same? I guess not. It's due to medication just like he mentioned in the video too?
I actually started to cry. He deserves the whole world. I want to hug him, he is so brave! There is a lot of huge problems in South Korea. They need sex ED, yet they don't have it. They need to spread awarness about STDs, yet they don't do anything. And don't even let me start with their relationship with LGBTQ+ community. A lot of work ahead, lemme tell you. But let's hope for the best.
Maria Taiga but you can’t expect them to be as open to it as you do. You think it’s wrong that they’re like that because you’ve grown up with an environment open to LGBTQ and Sex Ed in school. In SK they’re still soo conservative on topics such as these. You can’t expect them to change just because you think it’s wrong. They’re society is different to yours.
@@yoselingomez7071 I don't expect them to change overnight. The things I wrote are things, that are needed. I know how conservative SK is, how hard it would be for them to change. And it is not necessarily wrong, it's just a old stereotype. I don't expect then to be as open as I am, but they could try - and not only them. And about the place I live in - I grew up in middle Europe, and trust me, people are not really accepting, they are pretty much the opposite. So I know how ugly can things get. This is just my opinion. 100 people will always have 100 opinions, we should respect each other's.
Still a long way to go. Most of us, asian, still so conservative about this kind of topics eventhough we know how important it is to know about sex ed as early as possible.
He’s so eloquent, so well spoken. I can’t imagine being brave enough to speak about this in such a conservative, old school society. It is people like this young man who slowly change the views of a society. You are brave and loved thank you for your courage to speak out on this and educate others.
I really admire him! He seems extremely calm and collected, like he's resting deeply wihtin himself and all the aspects he mentioned and the information he gave were very well thoguht-over and researched. Were I in korea, I'd love to have him as one of my friends and support him in whichever way I could. Should you ever read this and happen to speak english: Please stay strong. Life can be bitter and cruel, but curses and blessings are the same in essence, depending on how you take them. You're not alone and please stay the way you are.❤
❤️ I am so proud of this young man. Being Korean, gay, and HIV+ in Korea must be so tough. It’s great he is surrounded by good people. Keep fighting the fight. I’m a gay Korean-American living in Los Angeles and my husband and I send you LOVE and support.
Cured, yes. But at what cost? Too much even for a life's savings. Why admire a person who actively acquired HIV and yet you just sleep on people with terminal illnesses or people that didn't had a choice? This person knew the risks and this is the outcome of his decisions. Would you still admire him for his decisions? There is nothing brave about this.
@@_blank-_ Come on man. You are not perfect. Work on yourself and what you do wrong. You probably lie or think innapropriate things who knows. You have to work on you heart and it's a hard thing to do.
Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you Asian Boss. I've been volunteering at a shelter for HIV-positive people and people with AIDS in Italy for many years now. I want to say it was a changing experience for me: it makes you realize how lucky we all are to live a healthy life and all of the small futile problems seem to suddenly disappear. But I also discovered that there are a lot of misconceptions about this disease and that makes me very sad. I often wondered "How could it be in Korea, the country where I want to live?". The number of HIV-positive people in South Korea is quite small compared to other countries, so I couldn't find many infos. Turns out, thanks to this amazing channel, that there is a lot of disinformation but that there's also a brave, beautiful person like this young man, trying to educate people, battling everyday. I feel grateful for what he's doing and I hope he always stays strong. He should be an example to all of us. Thank you.
This guy is so educated and seems like a genuine and sweet person. 💜 Much love to him. I hope he is healthy for many many years, and happy too. Many hugs from Peru.
@@shawnaedwards2421 the problem is that because korea is such a conservative country gay people do not get the right education for safe sex, so often the person just didn't get the education they needed which is sad.

I believe we all have our paths to walk. You keep your head up and do not feel less than other people.
This doesn't even have to do with gay or HIV but the lack of sexually education PERIOD in Korea is the problem. A good portion are IGNORANT when it comes to STDS and an even bigger portion don't know what a condom is for. They think only about pregnancy when it comes to condoms NOT because of spreading STDS and that's why this is happening. I met someone once who didn't even know what STDS were. It's quite scary. Prayers for them.this young man is a beautiful well spoken soul.
I feel sorry for this guy, since people in Korea they judge other people because of what they feel and look, being gay is like a sin for other people, it's sad
It'll be a generation or two before there's any big changes with this topic in SK. For now, I can only applaud this young man for his courage and his determination to educate others. I wish nothing but the best for him.
Jan Bae I agree and I remember back in the early 90s when it was a death sentence. Glad that the medical field has advanced so much to help people with HIV prolong their lives.
I will support him all the way, and I am very pleased that he spoke up about HIV-positive and being gay. He must keep on fighting for your life to live.
I am also diagnosed with HIV for 3-4years now. It's quite hard at first, but eventually It's pretty normal for me in my everyday living. I am just greatful that my family and friends accepts my situation. You just need to stay healthy and take ur medicines regularly. Fighting! 😊
12:22 what a great message and a beautiful way to look at life. I will be sharing that with my clients, hoping it helps them to accept their circumstances better.
This was such a respectful and gentle interview on such an important topic. Thank you for showing the love and respect that this sweet and gentle man deserves.
This makes me really sad. He should have friends and family there for him as support. He is very brave and strong. My thoughts and prayers are with him 🙏❤️
Bless this man it takes a lot of courage to talk about things like this especially in Korea I wish for him nothing but a life time of happiness and health 😭❤️
Wow, I applaud this young man for sharing his story. He might have encouraged others in the same position to seek help. I hope they start an organization to guide and protect people going through the same thing. Bravo!
I have falling in love with the interviewer. She know how to ask with polite way. Make someone feels comfortable for answer even in the sensitive question.
Being gay not a problem. Easily sleeping around with partners can be a risk why many contracted HIV. Its like a bomb drop at you anytime. Just make sure you have one long term partner, use condom. Many preventive measures.
I want to hug him tight. I could already imagine how scared he felt. It is not easy coming out to the public, much less announcing you’re HIV positive. He is such a brave individual who deserves just as much happiness as the others.
He is an inspiration for all who suffer from HIV/AIDs, great interview and I hope he finds a companion because everyone deserves to be loved ( I am not gay but I have love ones who are and I love them dearly)
Wow he's amazing. He didn't have to put himself in the spotlight like this and his life would probably be easier but he felt like this was important enough to speak up about. He is so brave and he seems so nice. I hope he finds happiness
Ju Yong thank you for being brave enough to share and speak out. Hopefully your courage will inspire others to speak. I do think your new purpose is to educate. Clearly South Korea needs more HIV/AIDS education. May the ancestors continue to guide your steps through this new journey. **Asian Boss: if at all possible, I think it would be a good thing to interview someone who is heterosexual and HIV-positive. It may be very hard to find someone in South Korea who is willing. However there are so many that still only see this as a “gay disease”!
Thank you for being so strong to come and talk about something so sensitive. I really wish the world could change that we don’t find our illnesses as something that defines our identities, and labels is for scrutiny from others. Everyone deserves love no matter what.
As a young man living in a country that is fast paced yet old fashioned in some ways, he is the bravest Korean that I know. I have read so many articles and seen many videos on Koreans and their opinion on homosexuality and AIDS and it is saddening that many Koreans are not fully educated on these kinds of things and also not very accepting. I have been to Korea so many times and it is a beautiful country. I just hope that many of its citizens will open up and be more embracing to strong people like him.
I’ve been seeing a lot more things about HIV popping up on my RUclips and other social media sites I wonder if this is a sign telling me to be careful or is this just a topic that’s getting more popular
People don't think HIV can happen to them and aren't careful making new cases increase when they should decrease. Use protection and if sexually active get tested every 6 months if not using protection every 3 months
It is a sign to be careful. I've noticed it too. I'm not trying to be ugly or rude but the new cases/coming out vids shocked me to think who catches HIV in 2019? I think the uptick for younger people 18-25 is because schools no longer scare the hell out of children like they did in the late 80s and 90s regarding safety.
I remember in the 80s and AIDS was called “gay cancer”. I lived in Korea for two years and this disappoints me. I had hoped for progress with this important issue.
@@robertlee-nq6mg But in the early 80s, it was ONLY talked about as a "gay" illness. It was called GRID aka gay-related immune deficiency. There are also other ways HIV can be spread. HIV can be spread from mother to child in utero, delivery or breast milk. It can also be spread through shared needles with someone who has the virus.
I wish him the best, he’s clearly a very kind and sensitive soul. People should never judge others because they have HIV, only support them. It is sad to think such a serious disease makes people blame themselves.
I really admire this guy as well as this whole interview. He is honest and humble enough to educate everyone through his channel. People with HIV should be loved and cared.

@@hijack69 in my knowledge, when you have sex with an HIV+, thats when you get it.. please correct me if im wrong.. 😊

100 people will always have 100 opinions, we should respect each other's.
koreans still have lower std rate than the west and one of the lowest in the world. they are fine how they are.
Still a long way to go. Most of us, asian, still so conservative about this kind of topics eventhough we know how important it is to know about sex ed as early as possible.
I really agree with thos comment! I'm a middle schooler at South korea, and we had never learned nor heard about HIV or things about condom.
his voice is so relaxing .
it was a death sentence a long time ago. science has improved a lot so there is hope.

They will but something else will take its place. That's reality.
Yes, nowadays you can have a close to typical lifespan if you're consistent with the medication.

Utmost respect for this young man. He is making the best of a bad situation, and trying to help others, while fighting HIV and prejudice.
As gay myself, I have to say that he’s actually so adorable, any man who would have him will be the luckiest. My best wishes to him
He’s so eloquent, so well spoken.

I wish him hope and recovery soon. Medical technologies has improved tremendously over the years.. He will be cured. I believe!
Use protection la

Thank you.

I have falling in love with the interviewer. She know how to ask with polite way. Make someone feels comfortable for answer even in the sensitive question.
I wish most people would realize that there's nothing wrong with being gay. And that as long as you show respect you deserve respect

Laurice djepeno both
Go and get checked
People don't think HIV can happen to them and aren't careful making new cases increase when they should decrease. Use protection and if sexually active get tested every 6 months if not using protection every 3 months
Both! :D
He’s so brave to come out and share his story
I respect u❣️
I remember in the 80s and AIDS was called “gay cancer”. I lived in Korea for two years and this disappoints me. I had hoped for progress with this important issue.
Hiv can spread by heterosexual sex.
But chances are much higher with gay sex i.e anal sex.
Route of transmission is Vaginal or Anal sex.
Even it’s long time ago, I still wanna hug him tightly.
I love this guy, his energy is so positive and the interviewer was respectful asked him some really great questions
I love how open and honest he is about his situation
This is a great interview and important topic, thank you.
I wish him the best, he’s clearly a very kind and sensitive soul. People should never judge others because they have HIV, only support them. It is sad to think such a serious disease makes people blame themselves.
