11:07 broke my heart. As a heterosexual male, I can't think of not loving my child, because of who he/she/they/etc loves and identifies with. I am literally in tears. Santoshi is such a gent.
Satoshi is always so kind and considerate in his manner and speech. To respect and love his parents enough to not discuss something that he feels so strongly within himself with them, so that it doesn’t distress or upset them overwhelmingly, is a beautiful thing...and also something he will have to keep with him all his life (long after his parents are gone from this earth...) Such a good, gentle, loving man...(Shinichi couldn’t have chosen better...)
Been a fan of their TabiEats channel for quite some time. I knew that they were a gay couple because Shinichi had stated it from a viewers question during one of their livestreams. Thank you for being so open and honest with this interview. And thank you Asian Boss. Lots of love, support, and respect to you, Shinichi and Satoshi. 💟
I wanted to cry when Satoshi said his relationship with his parents is the way it is. My daughter came out 2 yrs ago she was afraid of my reaction. I told her she's my baby and I will support her. I also have her the don't bring home a bum speech, as long as they respect care and love you for who you are.
I'm so pleased you interviewed tabieats, I love their channel and its so important to hear lgbt+ voices from different cultures. They should be so proud of themselves and my heart goes out to them
I just love both these men. They are so beautiful, and they have some precious spirits. Holding them both close to my heart! Thank you for being out on behalf of all those in Japan who simply can't at this time.
its cool that the guy with glasses is so amused by his partner's sex stories instead of being like, weirded out and insecure. there are people like that lmao
Yeah and so cool about the story about not being into him at all after the photo. Such a different culture. In some ways I think if we blended some of the better norms from both our cultures we would be better off.
honestly ig it depends on the couple? sometimes my gf talks abt guys she’s liked , and guys she finds attractive and nice, but i never fee weird or insecure bc i trust her? i know she loves me and she’s not gonna leave me (and viceversa) but then again ppl around us think it’s weird so maybe it is culture lol
They've been together for twenty years- my husband wouldn't be surprised by anything I have to say at this point. Once he just looked at me and said, "you've really lived a lot of life!" and it's true, but with the person you choose to spend your life with, there shouldn't be judgement or secrets.
When I was living in Japan a few years ago, I got the feeling that Japanese people, in general, were ok with lgbtq people on tv, or even in their workplace or like in society. But if it would be their own son/daughter or other family member then it would instantly get a lot more difficult to accept. They're slowly getting more tolerant though.
Still a long way. Even in assault cases in Japan if one person is part of the LGBT the police isn't gonna take their side. So, I wouldn't stay in Japan if I was part of the LGBT for my safety even if my parents were ok with that which I doubt unless I could conceal it well from strangers.
Satoshi’s message got a tear out of me. Asian Boss, this was really great, insightful interview! I love TabiEats and this was a whole new light to see them in. Thank you for sharing this content!
You're such a lovely person Satoshi. I hope your parents realize how precious you are. Stay strong and know that all of us love you, both you and Shinichi. Have a great life you both deserve it.
I adore this couple and find them two of the sweetest people. Satoshi's gentle spirit shines through, and Shinichi strikes me as creative, artistic and open. I am a huge fan of their work. Thank you for this interview.
Now I feel I understand better why Satoshi is so gentle and thoughtful with his words, especially with anything near criticism. I hope he is able to find peace with his parents.
I first saw your videos when shinichi came to Singapore. But I saw someone commented to invite u to msia so I guess he didn't realise u r gay. In Chinese culture there doesn't seem to be a problem. I wasnt taught it's wrong but today I think we absorbed some western culture. Just wanted to show u some support. Good luck!
not proud to admit, but i've read so much BL (boy's love) mangas that im starting to normalize malexmale in japan specifically. after watching this, i snapped out of it and now im aware that those stories i fangirl over so much are merely fiction.. and most of the time it's nothing like real life. LGBT is probably not all sparkly and flowery in a conservative country like i imagined. best of luck from a naive 17 yr old girl to those two!💗
such irony isn't it. because we know in those mangas (from Japan) would mostly tell the happy stories for gay couple when the fact some of them in that very country would get disowned by their parents for barely coming out
That's because everything "BL" is NOT actual representation. It was made mostly by women for women because some of them fetishize male-male relationships and need something to cater to their fantasy (not saying you're like that personally, I don't know you). The thing is, it's not even popular among gay men so that says a lot. There is some LGBTQ+ representation in Japanese media, but BL, GL and all that stuff is definitely not part of it.
You're not alone.. I watch anime and I read manga and I see the bl and I think wow Japan is so laid back and accepting. I start to dive into other areas of Japanese life and I realise no no Japan is a very Conservative and quite sexist country. I would still loooove to visit there one day but I'm aware it's not some progressive paradise for lgbtq people.
I imagine the constant plaudits and applause helps... It was difficult to be openly gay decades ago. Right now it's practically openly celebrated, so let's just stop pretending that 40 years haven't passed.
If no one cared, then it would be easy for gay couples to come out and get apartments together. People still do care. Until gay human beings are treated like every other human being, it's important to speak up for Justice.
It took me ages to realize they are a couple. I love watching them. I just never had a reason to wonder or be curious - but I think one show I saw one feeding the other a bite of food, and I was just like "oh!" - and that was pretty much the beginning and the end of my thinking of it. I couldn't care less. I adore them both.
Thank you! It was really neat to see Satoshi and Shinichi open up to share their personal lives. I have been a long time viewer of their RUclips videos and aside from a few serious VLOG's, most of the content is lighthearted. I was most pleasantly surprised with Satoshi though. He rarely talks about himself and to see him speak so very eloquently in Japanese was refreshing. (Most videos has him speaking in somewhat broken English.)
I've been watching TabiEats for a few years now and they're one of the best food channels for me. They're interactive, sweet and very open to new foods and if they don't like something, they state why but don't diss it or spit it out. Very very classy couple. I wish them all the best as always!
Although I'm not gay, this video bring tears to my eyes. I can feel how hard they struggle with their life. 😥 Good job Asian Boss. Your work I consider to be a "Social Engineering".

First, I found your Tabieats RUclips and became an instance fan. I love the way you review the food so fresh, honest and true. Then I found this video. You guys are so sweet and open. Your brutal honesty about your journey is an eye opener. You're been together about/ almost 20 years and still look very young. May you have continued success ❤
Satoshi, Shinichi, you're both so amazing. Really moving. Thank you both for being who are. You truly inspire others and make the world a better place
There are a lot of gay couples who have actually been together for many many years, I sometimes think they have better relationships than heterosexual coupes.
I've been with my partner for 25 years and I know with certainty that we will be together until one of us passes. Our love has grown stronger over the years. Thanks to the Asian Boss crew for always having such outstanding topics to report about and for Stephen Park. He is definitely some delicious eye candy.
I love this couple and I’ve enjoyed their channel for many years. I never knew the silent struggle Satoshi had and I’m glad he was honest about it. Not everyone has a smooth coming out story and I think that his advice at the end of the video was very profound.
Omg I love that they’re together! I’ve always had my speculations. So happy for you two! I’m already a fan of you both, this just solidified my fandom!!
I am so glad he never wanted you to break up with him. Every video I have watched, of the 2 of u b4 this, he is so darling. No one is perfect. Thats what I love about relationships. Love each other and be there through our faults and mistakes. Together a team
Justa Clapper that happens to straight couples too. I’m subscribed to them so I knew their story, although at first I didn’t realize they were a couple. It might sound bad but I like that japanese people are not into pda, either it’s gay or straight couples, I find it respectful and polite.
I love their channel and I didn’t know this video existed but I loved watching the interview!! Hiroko is an amazing reporter, I always enjoy her interviews. She approaches the topic with such openness and sensitivity. I feel that a lot of people would be comfortable speaking with her ❤️
I really get what Shinichi means about Japanese people talking about deep issues with friends and discussing things they don't like with a couple people, but then not really speaking up in public, as I've talked to all of my Japanese friends about such topics but they always do some gestures like "don't say this too loud" or "don't tell anyone". I know everyone in Japan isn't like that, but as long as most people in Japan still perceive having an opinion as something that shouldn't be shared openly, it'll be hard to change anything.
I'm absolutely addicted to the Tabieats channel and I LOVE these guys, what an excellent, brave and heartbreaking interview, Very Well done Asian Boss!!!
People should not be so judgemental, yes times are getting better. When I was young my father explained to me that there is all types of people in the world, so I never judged anyone no matter how different one is. Love you guys and wish the best for you two.
I must say, Hiroko is really great. She's such a kind and respectful interviewer, especially when dealing with difficult subjects or marginalized people. And she's kinda cute too ;)
Oh God *this was so dark!* Something you do not expect when watching a channel with a couple of cute uncles making a salad with a jar of mayo and pasta o trying dollar store kitchen tools from Daiso. Bear hugs to everyone!
I've been subscribed to their channel for around a year and a half now, and have enjoyed a bunch of the content they share. I didn't even bother to think that these two gentlemen were gay. Regardless of their sexual orientation, I think they're bright, have great personalities, and I enjoy learning from them. The fact that they're gay just means that they've faced certain hardships that I will never understand. And to be strong despite those hardships-that's admirable, and I hope they know that they are great role models for the LGBTQ community.
It only took a couple of tabieats videos to see the loving connection between you two. I love it when you share the cup noodles, passing them back and forth.
Thank you Hiroko San, for spending time with Shinichi and Satoshi. For taking the time to get to know the guys. Thank you Shinichi and Satoshi for being transparent and sharing your lives with us. This is why I always think it’s so dumb when people argue that being gay is a choice. Like who would choose a life of being discriminated and alienated when they can just choose to bone girls instead?
It is a choice. There has been many videos and treatments for people who want to stop being gay. I think it's kind of mental problem or something. :/ But not sure. Just I worry about the religions dying out soon
2PMisTimeless Those treatments don’t work, and has never worked. Otherwise there’d be no gay people. And there are many things I worry about, but religion dying is honestly not one of them.
@@2PMisTimeless Those treatments are proven - in all medical literature - to be ineffective, and incredibly harmful. It is not a choice, just like how being straight is not a choice that you can magically change.
I follow TabiEats for around 4 years and it's great to see them in this honest interview, where topics like suicide oder how parents won't accept it got spoken out. And how things can turn around, like Shinichis mother. But it broke my heart so see Satoshi talk about his parents, it was the first time for me to hear his story even I knew some parts. My husband and I met Satoshi and Shinichi on our first trip to Japan. We absolutely loved these guys. They're so lovely, humble and so fun to be with. One of our best times to have in Japan.
I bumped into them at an Olive Garden in NY. They get around.
This was kind of beautiful.
Informative, sad in some parts, honest and very interesting. The interviewer was also very good.
The interviewer is very good
what beauty u find in the gayness?
Of course she is. Its hiroko 👌😌
@@catch_me_if_you_can6596 what sort of question is that. They found the interview and story beautiful but the thing you took away was that they found beauty in gayness? That makes no sense
Satoshi, Shinichi... You guys are such kind, hard working, inspirational amazing people
I follow them! Didn’t even realize they were a gay couple. They make great food! So happy there is much more acceptance now. 1000% gay haha. Wow that’s some coming out story haha!!
Same I didn't know that until now 😂
Polka Dot Apron I watched them for three months and never realized this until I watched Shinichi's World at he was talking about how he came out to his Mom. I was a little confused but then I started thinking about it and I realized they are just perfect for each other. Don't you think so? I love them both so much.
I watch them all the time, too - legit thought they were brothers LOL
Tara Diane same here!!
you have gaydar whatsoever. do you realize they're also japanese
I want to hug Satoshi, he’s such a sweetheart and hopeless romantic. I wish both of them endless happiness.
OH MY GOD TABIEATS!!!!!!!!! My two favorite channels have surprised me with a collaboration. I’m living!
Fantastic and ooooooh so handsome these 2.... interviewer was wonderful☺

Way to go Shinichi and Satoshi. As a transgender actress/musician here in Tokyo as well, I’m really proud of you both.
this comment was a year ago but just wanted to tell you how gorgeous u are !! :oD
Hope all goes well for you :)
Thank you to Shinichi, Satoshi, and Hiroko for doing this brave and honest interview. Shinichi and Satoshi are a wonderful couple! Sending lots of hugs and support to Shinichi and Satoshi, and hoping for better acceptance for the LGBTQ community there.
Francesca D'Alessandro Hi Francesca! Yes, they're both wonderful! I hope you are doing well, and the week ahead will be a good one for you. :-)
I waited so long for this video. This made me emotional. I remember when Shinichi for told his coming out story but hearing it again i was still like, wow lol
Hi sister! What a wonderful and emotional interview. I literally had tears in my eyes. Sending you lots of ((hugs))! ❤️
GlamourByLiz_.....Sister, me too! When I saw it come across my feed, I literally stopped what I was doing, to watch it. Hope you’re feeling better today! ♥️
@@mindysmom6132 yesss. Shinichi had just msgsd me and i was like omg the video just posted and started watching right away. It was great. I watched it twice..... I'm feeling better. Still have a lingering cough tho.
My daughter and myself were in the car waiting at a stoplight when she said, "Mama, I don't think I've ever been straight." I thanked her for trusting me and told her as best as I could how much I love her unconditionally when she said, "That's good to know, but I don't think I've ever been straight on this road. We always turn here." Thank you for your brutal truth and bravery. I follow you guys, I love you even more!🙏🏼❤️😘

The way that they look at each other~ 😭❤ Those 17 years together are almost tangible with the way they smile when their partner is talking.
As an south east asian myself im planning to come out when im financially stable lol i already know i will get disowned 😅

Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry to hear that 😅😬
I hope it all works out for you! 💕
Trust me, i did the same... Get a job and then come out. But it probably will get better in time.

"I run a RUclips channel called TabiEats". This video will have to wait a few hours- I have a RUclips channel to go binge.
Matthew Clearwater I’m happy for you. Some of the videos are a gem.
I’ve been watching them for a couple years now. I absolutely love them. I look forward to their live stream on Saturday nights.
Same reaction here, lol
@@alwaysjoedigirl4746 Me too
Really good channel, very under looked
11:07 broke my heart. As a heterosexual male, I can't think of not loving my child, because of who he/she/they/etc loves and identifies with.
I am literally in tears. Santoshi is such a gent.
Thank you for this message.
OMG I didn't even realize that TabiEats were a gay couple! wooow
Same!!!
You're damn cute yourself.😉
Seriously?! They were practically showing it in their set.
Markus Andersen I didn’t realize until I saw some of their community posts on RUclips. He mentioned it a few times there.
It was pretty obvious. Also,I think they said it one time in a video.
Satoshi is always so kind and considerate in his manner and speech. To respect and love his parents enough to not discuss something that he feels so strongly within himself with them, so that it doesn’t distress or upset them overwhelmingly, is a beautiful thing...and also something he will have to keep with him all his life (long after his parents are gone from this earth...)
Such a good, gentle, loving man...(Shinichi couldn’t have chosen better...)
Yea... it's weird that ppl say they didn't know. I found out after watching just couple of their videos
@@ryannt I knew immediately........
The saddest moment is not you being not accepted by community but you been rejected by your own family. I will never disown my children
It's so refreshing to see an Asian gay couple. It's nice to feel represented for once.
We've been searching for other gay Asian couples to support too!!
Good luck!
Good to see older gay men telling their stories.
not proud to admit, but i've read so much BL (boy's love) mangas that im starting to normalize malexmale in japan specifically. after watching this, i snapped out of it and now im aware that those stories i fangirl over so much are merely fiction.. and most of the time it's nothing like real life.
We live and learn.
Realizing it was a personal milestone for you and if not you, I am proud of you for that ❤
Being a gay couple takes a lot of courage due to the open discrimination they will have to endure.
Nobody cares that they're gay. Not even Japan.
water is wet
I imagine the constant plaudits and applause helps...
It was difficult to be openly gay decades ago. Right now it's practically openly celebrated, so let's just stop pretending that 40 years haven't passed.
Did you guys even watch the video? One of them still isn't even accepted by his family because he's gay. o_O
This is such a wholesome story. Nothing beats living your truth. 🌈
Satoshi's message at the end is so important!
You know we love you two and support you 100%!
Although I'm not gay, this video bring tears to my eyes. I can feel how hard they struggle with their life. 😥
Good job Asian Boss. Your work I consider to be a "Social Engineering".
WHAT DO U MEAN BY Social Engineering
Just letting you know that ”social engineering” has a bad connotation.
@@linusfotograf Yeah. I think I got this word from Mr.Robot series. 😃

I Love These Guys! I'm so proud that they are willing to be open and share themselves. I think their channel is awesome and I really respect their work.
I was so sad when he talked about suicide. Glad it didn’t work and that IT GOT BETTER!
So heart breaking to hear him go through that time!!
Satoshi, Shinichi, you're both so amazing. I watch all of your videos on TabiEats (and Shinichi's world) and I was already a big fan prior to seeing this, but this was really so special to hear you both speak on such a personal level. Really moving. Thank you both for being who are. You truly inspire others and make the world a better place
17 years?? That's true love right there ❤️ see guys? True love does exist ( with the right one ofc).
That's what i was thinking without love their relation wouldn't last.
There are a lot of gay couples who have actually been together for many many years, I sometimes think they have better relationships than heterosexual coupes.
@Avant Li I don't understand what that's got to do with it.
I've been with my partner for 25 years and I know with certainty that we will be together until one of us passes. Our love has grown stronger over the years. I come from a large family and he grew up in foster care but luckily my entire family has embraced him as one of the family. As a matter of fact we're headed to my mother's home today for Christmas.

I've been watching them for no less than two years and it only occurred to me a few months ago that they might just be a couple. Appreciate what they do even more now!
Omg! That was so emotional, I could feel Satoshi's pain. I started crying when he said it took 30 years for him to come out to his parents and to this day they still don't accept him. That was so sad. I know he is happy with you Shinichi and I am so happy to hear you two have been together so long. I hope you will always be together till the end of time. ❤💕 love watching you both.
I didn’t know about Tabieats. They just gained a new subscriber. I love traveling and learning about different foods. Im also a firm believer in supporting my community. Congratulations to Shinichi and Satochi on their 17 years together. As a gay man about to celebrate a 28 year relationship/marriage, I can relate to the many hardships in keeping it together and making it work.
Shinichi and Satoshi are two of the most genuine and kind-hearted youtubers. Love you guys ❤️
“Half a step is a step...” he’d make a great coach. Safety is key to coming out.
Omg I love that they’re together! I’ve always had my speculations. So happy for you two! I’m already a fan of you both, this just solidified my fandom!!
Satoshi's message at the end almost made me cry its so moving :'
MiniMe Thank you for the information. I have that same thought about their culture is typically very conservative.
This video brought tears to my eyes so many times. I've been following TabiEats for over a year now and they are such nice people ❤
I've been subscribed to their channel for around a year and a half now, and have enjoyed a bunch of the content they share.
You guys should add Japanese subtitle for the English parts. How are japanese supposed to understand the message if it’s all in English?
Măng Cụt yeah I agree with you.
there are some Japanese who totally understand what ppl say in this video like me, which seems to be a rare case though since as far as I look through comments here, there're few or no comments posted by Japanese.
Măng Cụt they are speaking in Japanese though
...like all of us are understanding the video: Being able to understand English.
Isn´t english a normal thing to teach in japanese schools ? I thought it is normal for most of the world. I´m german and most people understand at least a bit.
@@sergeantsilly5239 It's very different. Lots of learning grammar rules and memorizing vocabulary for tests, but little actual use. Being able to understand the speed, complexity, and natural style of communication this man uses is quite high level for more Japanese English learners. Subtitles would be a big help.

This is a very good piece! And quite important! Many western teenagers actually think of Japan as being very open to LGBT+ because of the manga/anime material they consume online, but the reality is quite different. Hope Asian Boss covers this topic more, I will watch it
It seem like Shinichi was just into looks. Satoshi is a handsome guy. The way Shinichi said I never thought I would be with him because I did not find him attractive was sad. He would have missed out on a great guy because he was being shallow.
You know, Satoshi's voice at the end, when he's dishing out advice to closeted gays, is incredibly soothing.
You guy give comfort and hope, again thank you. Wonderful gentlemen. Watched this video many times, always make me smile.

Thank both of you guys so much for coming out! And being brave and talking about your story even though we could tell it was difficult for me. The only way anything changes is by people making things change. Love you guys
It is definitely not a choice. People that promote those conversion therapy and how the grew out of it are lying 1000%.

I truly wish they will stay happy together, or fight for the relationship when it gets difficult. They are just amazing, lovely, funny, strong, inspiring... must watch on YT
I truly appreciate these videos, you guys. Seriously LGBTQ-themed videos like this really help a wider cause. I really can't thank you guys enough for making these and doing what you do.

Shinichi and Satoshi are two of the most genuine, kind-hearted people! I hope more Japanese people and those globally who support recognising and embracing the LGBTQIA+ community as fellow human beings who have every right to be their authentic selves (and live authentically) without fear of societal backlash, stand up for greater LGBTQIA+ acceptance.
