the chugging is bouncier, clearer and overall just very dynamic. The clean is amazing, too. Man, I need to get these! And glad to hear you're enjoying them, man! :D
This was bound to come up someday, but could you please do a demo of the alpha/omega pickups? and a comparison between the two especially with cleans. That would be amazing as I'm sure there are many people eager to find out the differences, but there's not much info out there about the two, the Titans as well. Enjoying your videos btw!
these pickups sound surprisingly amazing. A striking resemblance to Misha's tone on his recordings just from those pickups. Out of all of your videos, I think this is my favorite tone I've heard from you. When the video started I literally had my hands on my head like wow this sounds amazing. Wish I could afford them, and might buy them regardless haha
Best tone yet!!!! And possibly a rare mention, I love those governors through the 609. I think those play a bigger part. That was choice before I went AxeII
six string probably still useful in the studio for solo work but personally I would want to sound as close to live play in the studio. haha! unless it is more ambient filler stuff anyhow. and some of that can be done via live phrase sampling/looping or maybe a DJ assist.
seven string feels home to me. 6 string feels not adequate, and 8 string isn't tasty anymore. 7 string is a sweet spot, of there is such a thing with guitar.
THANK YOU! No fucking lie, it took me far too long to find a review/demo of these pickups using a mic'd amp and not processed to hell. I'm considering either these or Aftermaths, and this was mega helpful. Cheers, man.
Old video I know but that protone OD is a beautiful thing. I've toyed with tons of ODs and boost pedals, and this thing is in a league of it's own as far as pick attack and clarity. If you're a fan of the djent "tone" than there's no other pedal that does what this does, at least of the dozens I've tried.
No more DI tracks ?! It was a great idea to have DI tracks ! I hope DI tracks will be back in this video and on your Channel because it's a great addition for a demo ! Great channel by the way !
I figured theyd sound great on high gain but those CLEANS!!!!! I've been wanting to replace the EMG 707s in my rg1527 and can't decided between the bkp Blackhawks, aftermath/coldsweat combo or these and gotta say that this demo may have tipped the scales towards the JUGGERNAUTS!!!!! Thanks for a great demo!!!!
Yeah i heard high cut out in the highers gains it still gave the speakers some kick. They sounded hot until i heard more of the rythem chug. Im actually pretty impressed. Usually a seymour duncan an lace pickups guy but those are pretty crisp with kind of a muddy tone. Good demo covered most the bases except the harmonics but you dont really have to after the playthrough. Good stuff.
oh hey a Misha mansoor ad before the video these are nice pups but they are basically the gibson of the pickup industry. twice as much as they're worth imo. I'll go for lace ;)
Thanks man. This vid sold me. Ive been torn between the VH2 and Juggernaut.. I want a pick up that I can use for all my different projects.. Metal.. Post rock.. ect.. Thank you.
The juggernaut neck wad actually a slightly modified vhii from what I hear. I own the juggernaut set and can say both pickups sound really great for cleans and distortion and pretty much versatile enough for any style.
***** can I guy on amazon? or only itunes? also Firebreather is the album? what is the band/your artists title so I can find it? thanks, some badd azz sh&t dude.
ikr! and i watched the video that Dimarzio posted and it's really hard to tell how they truly sound on a dirty sound (distorted) because i think it wasn't a setup (amp) Jake was used to that they used for the demo so it didnt sound like it normally does for him. but the cleans sounded huge. so im assuming that the overdrived channel just wasn't what he normally uses.
Was that a Floyd Rosed Blackjack that you fitted with the evertune? I'd think a tunomatic version would be impossible to fit because of the angled neck.
I have the 8 string version of these pickups in my agile 828 and my live tone has never sounded so clear It's less treblely than what i'm used to but nothing the amp cant fix! Beefy af
I want bare knuckle juggernauts to replace the Tone Zone and Air Norton in my Ibanez prestige Rg652ahm. Does anyone know if this just happens to fit in the dimarzio cavities or do I need extra routing done? I'm not very knowledgeable with these things so I would be grateful if someone who was to let me know, thanks.
Hey Fluff, i was wondering about your oppinion on the Way Hyge pedals? espacially angry troll. maybe you could make a review of some kind? i am a big fan, please keep up the good work :D greetings from Denmark.
Hi Ryan. How would you decribe this pickups in compare with Deathbuckers?I planning to replace EMG 707TW in Hellraiser 7-Fr.What will be better choice in your opinion for more traditional precise metal"jam jam"sound? :) I`m into totally different metal music genre(something like modern power/progressive)but i like beefier pickups. Thanks in advance.
Hey Ryan, great demo. I'm glad these sound so good in a Mahogany body, very tempted to get some for a les paul. Have you tried the bridge humbucker coil split? I imagine that for a 13k humbucker it might sound a bit thin, but considering how fat these pickups sound compared to other 13k humbuckers, I'm really intrigued as to whether the coil split sound for the bridge and neck (individually) are useable.

Hi fluff! great vid! What are you using for drums? Still waiting for your kemp pack number 2. I think you really steped up your gain so i hope that you can make a new amp pack, even if we have to pay for it! Cheers
You made these things sound so damn good. Do you have any experience with the DiMarzio Illuminators? I currently have a JP6 with CL&LF and want a little different but comparable clarity in the tone for my 7 string. I want to swap the stock Blaze pups from my UV777 and am looking for a good recommendation and have been leaning towards the Illuminators or Juggernauts.
Got a PRS P22 with 57/08's in it for some beautiful untouchable tones, a Gibson Les paul with A BKP Ceramic Warpig in the bridge and an Emerald in the neck. the Warping surprisingly is not great for really high gain its too much , buts its fantastic for Some nine inch nails type riffing ya know? I love it still, so I have a gothic gibson SG lying around with no hardware in it (ripped all the crap EMG shite out of it) I'm going to put juggernauts in it with new wiring and heavy strings for Djent metal whatever I want. I think I'll have perfection then, I always have my Danelectro for cool Single coil sounds too.
1:25 lol! Awesome stuff as always man!!, was very curious about these. Think you could do a review of some cheaper amps in the future? Id love to see what you could do with a old SS Randall through the governors, Not everyone can afford fancy tube amps haha. Keep up the good work!
I just had the aftermath pickups put in my 6 string and I love them. The main difference i hear is that the bass is tight and not very full. I love them. Great for a player who wants clarity in the bass. The cleans are pretty nice too.
I've also got the Aftermaths in my Line6 JT-89, but I didn't try the Juggs yet, so I can't tell which ones are better...I can tell you, that the Aftermaths are insanely tight, you can hear every mistake you play, they really won't forgive you :D:D but if you want a Pickup with insane clarity and punchy mids, go for them! And if you split the coils, it's like warping into another galaxy... The difference between the bridge and neck pu AND the split coil settings are insane...I play mostly the middle position, because i like the screaming highs of the bridge PU and the fat bass from the neck PU...Clean I play position 4 for chords and position 2 for soloing.
The cleans are pretty bad but the heavy tones are pretty damn good. Especially for a home studio type setup. We can all get a produced tone with Axe FX but it takes skill to get a similar tone recording a straight tube amp.
It could just be the way Ryan dials stuff in. I've never been the hugest fan of his tone and this is the first demo vid where I haven't liked the tone of the Juggernauts. Dudes an awesome demo-maker and musician though!
The down picks one the low string sound really tight. Would you MAINLY attribute that to the pick up, or a combo of other factors? (Picking technique, amp, gain, strings, guitar, play style, etc)
I have these pups in my DC727 and they're pretty fucking awesome. Definitely not made for death metal but they are some of the most open and dynamic pickups I've used. Dat bass is tight mang.
Aside from being a very competent demo video (as always), I did love the everloving lemurs out of that track you did. I'm very interested in how you record your guitars. Less on the equipment side of things, as it's very plainly shown what you use for that. More along the lines of tracking the guitars. You see, I use Addictive Drums for my drumming, and am wanting to know if you double track your guitars, with one panned left, one panned right, or do you quad track? Just rhythm. Thanks, man.
Look up reviews on them both. Personally I'm not a fan of Seymour Duncan, but there's a 50$ difference between the two, so you need to see if you like the BKPs more than the SDs. It also heavily depends on what playing style you're going for. If you're going for djent, obviously you'll want the Juggernauts, because that's what they're styled for.
At first I thought maybe you had that SLS C-7 model. This 6string sounds like a 7. I wonder how these pickups would sound on my SLS C-7 model. It has a lot of bass already and these Juggernaut pickups would add even more bass probably.
ouch …. just bought my Aftermath a few months ago and thinking to change for Juggernauts ! Christmas is coming no ? ;-) Thanks for the demo, my wife will be grateful too :-D Thx
+Felix Nilbog what pickups do you have. most stock pickups especially on ibanez are not too versatile. the v8 and v7 kinda work but it seems like you gotta push the gain for those. idk i had a lot less trouble when i switched to emg's
Do you play seven strings, I'm just curious, I don't even like metal but I love your videos, I'm a Steve vai fan that's why I asked about the seven strings
Such an awesome review, thanks so much man!!
the chugging is bouncier, clearer and overall just very dynamic. The clean is amazing, too. Man, I need to get these! And glad to hear you're enjoying them, man! :D
BRO,
You were my favorite character in Sons of Anarchy!
R.I.P Opie
Hey, Ryan, man! You've just made yourself a new fan, I've checked out a few more of your vids, they all kick ass!
Please keep uploading :)!
Ha! You even mixed the Banjo Raining Blood cover I watched ages ago? Impressive!
How about just a review of all of periphery's guitars too? Haha
Haha thats right!
So im here 5 years later shopping for pick ups. Was this ever done? Want to hear the difference for deciding for my 6 string
Baby fluff was SO AWKWARD haha! It's cool to see how far you've come bro.
Now he wouldn’t be caught dead with an import Schecter 😂😂
these pickups sound surprisingly amazing. A striking resemblance to Misha's tone on his recordings just from those pickups. Out of all of your videos, I think this is my favorite tone I've heard from you. When the video started I literally had my hands on my head like wow this sounds amazing. Wish I could afford them, and might buy them regardless haha
The first person I've heard on RUclips to do these pickups justice.
Best tone yet!!!!
And possibly a rare mention, I love those governors through the 609. I think those play a bigger part.
That was choice before I went AxeII
man I've owned a seven string so long that regular six string guitars look so tiny and uncomfortable, even though they really aren't.
Try going to an 8 string! my six string is just too small for me now!
i did. haha
six string probably still useful in the studio for solo work but personally I would want to sound as close to live play in the studio. haha! unless it is more ambient filler stuff anyhow. and some of that can be done via live phrase sampling/looping or maybe a DJ assist.
six strings feel great after years of a seven haha you feel like you can play anything on that tiny neck. that's just my experience
seven string feels home to me.
Possibly the best riffs I've heard this year.
Awesome tones! The 1:20 clean tone is so suitable for jazz or blues or whatever!
Best demo of the juggernaut. I am very pleased. Keep up the riffs Ryan Bruce!
Looking for something for my cheap Jackson. Always been a fan of emgs. These sound great and wouldn’t have to mill out a hole for a battery 👍
No more DI tracks ?! It was a great idea to have DI tracks ! I hope DI tracks will be back in this video and on your Channel because it's a great addition for a demo ! Great channel by the way !
This channel is becoming one of my favorites.Keep up dude.
Thanks for a great demo!!!!
i have a halo with painkiller pickups from bare knuckle, its like a punch in your face :D awesome pickups !
those pickups sound amazing on the low end!!
bad ass song to test out the pups. I like the tone. It's metallic.
Love that midsection. Awesome stuff!
Good stuff.
I just wanna give baby fluff a hug. Lol
best tone you've gotten yet.
I just put a set of Painkiller 7s in my Ibanez...was hoping for more...
I wonder how this bridge pup compares to the Dimarzio Crunchlab. Im thinking of getting one of them for a Basswood Rg.
Thats the best looking Schecter I've ever seen
great sound you're getting. but i think the alkaline trio sticker in the background was the best part haha
oh hey a Misha mansoor ad before the video
these are nice pups but they are basically the gibson of the pickup industry. twice as much as they're worth imo. I'll go for lace ;)
Top notch, man! Great tone and great riffage!
Great tutorial man have to get me those pickups! Also how do you get that nice clean tone at 1:13?
BTW that is a KILLER Rhodes you got there.
Good lord what is that bad ass song you were playing? must have it on my ipod NOW!!
***** can I guy on amazon? or only itunes? also Firebreather is the album? what is the band/your artists title so I can find it? thanks, some badd azz sh&t dude.
*****
bought, thanks.
I've been wanting to get Bare knuckle's Aftermath's for my Schecter C1-Classic. Have you tried those pickups?
Spec wise these sound similar to the Schecter Apocalypse... are the Schecs a copy of these in your opinion?
ikr! and i watched the video that Dimarzio posted and it's really hard to tell how they truly sound on a dirty sound (distorted) because i think it wasn't a setup (amp) Jake was used to that they used for the demo so it didnt sound like it normally does for him. but the cleans sounded huge. so im assuming that the overdrived channel just wasn't what he normally uses.
Was that a Floyd Rosed Blackjack that you fitted with the evertune?
I'd think a tunomatic version would be impossible to fit because of the angled neck.
Heck with the pickup demo, what pups were used in the intro bit? 😍
Damn Bro ...you gotta handle on tone! Awesome riffage!
I watched this. Watched some others on these beauty's. Ordered mine. Thank you
If those come in Jake's Ibanez signature, I'm pretty damn sure I know what I'm going to be saving up for from now on.
Awesome sound and great playing!
Leave it to a metal head to play a chord with the finger position at 1:10. Ha.
I have the 8 string version of these pickups in my agile 828 and my live tone has never sounded so clear
It's less treblely than what i'm used to but nothing the amp cant fix!
Beefy af
When did you get your 8 string? And what are the specs?
Thanks for this vid, Fluff! I may have to get a set of the 8 string variant of these when they drop.
Second video demo of these pickups and it backs up what I thought the first time, they sound muddy and lacking in treble
Hey Fluff, i was wondering about your oppinion on the Way Hyge pedals? espacially angry troll. maybe you could make a review of some kind?
i am a big fan, please keep up the good work :D
greetings from Denmark.

Hey Ryan, what is your opinion on fuzz boxes and what are your favorites on the market right now?
Hey Ryan, great demo. I'm glad these sound so good in a Mahogany body, very tempted to get some for a les paul. Have you tried the bridge humbucker coil split? I imagine that for a 13k humbucker it might sound a bit thin, but considering how fat these pickups sound compared to other 13k humbuckers, I'm really intrigued as to whether the coil split sound for the bridge and neck (individually) are useable.

1:16 that desktop wallpaper! haha, hilarious
I'm fairly curious there, too...although those Bare Knuckle's sound MASSIVE, are they worth the price difference? Also, insane clean tones as well...
Why is the jimmy clip only on four strings in some shots? Its seriously all I can see while watching this demo.
Nice video Ryan!
You made these things sound so damn good. Do you have any experience with the DiMarzio Illuminators? I currently have a JP6 with CL&LF and want a little different but comparable clarity in the tone for my 7 string. that is some gnarly tone!

Really nice Demo
Thats awesome. Thanks for DI by the way :)
Please link the wallpaper on your computer.
Any idea how these would sound in a Jazzmaster Baritone? I was also recommended the Bare Knuckle Aftermaths. Thoughts?
I just had the aftermath pickups put in my 6 string and I love them. The main difference i hear is that the bass is tight and not very full. I love them. Great for a player who wants clarity in the bass. The cleans are pretty nice too.

i wanna hear some Kyuss riffs now, good to know your deadhorse is flaking too.
it would be cool if in the play through you could play the same thing with different settings
amazing playing

on the bareknuckle site they sound very bassy, kind of like the Warpig with less mids.
I'm crossing my fingers for ya my man!
Love that tone!
This channel is quickly becoming comparable with Keith Merrows and Ola Englunds (which is my go-to guitar porn source)
Dat bass is tight mang.
do you have any plans on doing a DImarzio Titan and/or DImarzio Illuminator clips?
Thanks
I want that overdrive so bad ughh
I have a huge bulb forming in my pants are this review. Awesome job!
Nice! Ryan, is your music sold and used in film at all? It seems it'd be great for that.
Wish you'd do more bare knuckle pickup demos cos there's sooo many shite ones out there, job well done fluff!
was thinking for the same thing! go for it! comparison! love both though.
Aside from being a very competent demo video (as always), I did love the everloving lemurs out of that track you did. I'm very interested in how you record your guitars. 1:13 -- he is giving us the finger
will you be doing a video on the Dimarzio Titans? kinda curious how those compare to these :D
can I find the 1st song of this vid somewhere?
If not yet, will you release it soon? :)
Great vid anyway! :)
Great video man!
can you update your di downloads as copy is no longer in use
Sounds like you could do an awesome Sevendust cover of "Black" with those
At first I thought maybe you had that SLS C-7 model.
Hi Ryan, are u also going to test the dimarzio titan pickups?
***** That's disappointing to hear. I've heard a lot of good things about Dimarzio customer service. Perhaps their artist relations are lacking?
those sound so sick!
What would be the issue if my rig isnt handling drop tunings well, the pick ups or amp? And how should i test this?
+Felix Nilbog what pickups do you have. most stock pickups especially on ibanez are not too versatile. the v8 and v7 kinda work but it seems like you gotta push the gain for those. idk i had a lot less trouble when i switched to emg's
+Felix Nilbog depends a lot on how you EQ your amp, some speakers are better suited for lows as well. Theres a lot of factors to any tone.
Chris Mortlock
I kid you not, theres a button labled EQ and you push it, thats it.
+Felix Nilbog what amp you got?
It sounded like he was djenting for a second there O.O Daaaaaamnnnnnnnnn
Nope definitely not djenting
It sounds like the lead parts have really low sustain. Or is that the mix ?
Jake's signature Ibanez guitar will have the DiMarzio Jake Bowen signature pickups, Titans, installed.
wait bulb spoke to you directly???
Do you play seven strings, I'm just curious, I don't even like metal but I love your videos, I'm a Steve vai fan that's why I asked about the seven strings
