From the video it looks like he spent most of his time in Sydney. Sydney is expensive but $9 beers is probably club or high end bar prices. And $40 isn’t mid range restaurant prices. The classy pub near me has the most expensive meal at $25.
He reeks of a “rich American tourist”. No wonder he got fleeced.
that skydive place is 5 min from my house . welcome and happy new year squirrel
We have a lockout in Adelaide but it’s only in the central business district so u can’t enter a venue after 3am and last call is at 5am but this law doesn’t apply in the suburbs
Im down to get down under!! 😂 I wanna checkout the great whites breaching 😮
You could absolutely couch hop around Australia if you hit up your subscribers in advance. Probably a good way to get an authentic experience here too.
Sporti g events and city bars and clubs are expensive but it’s not as expensive as he makes out. And I don’t get what he’s talking about either with the lock out laws. And number 10 I like, cause the footy stadium he’s at is my local for the Penrith Panthers current back to back champions 👍🏻and my local train station too lol also thanks for the shoutout 👍🏻
Definitely a couch and food waiting for you 😁
You'll have to fight my dog for the couch, but you're more than welcome to it. (Perth) We have no lockout laws BTW.
You can leave the bar anytime but after lockout you can’t return
Fun facts 😂❤🐿️
You can leave a bar anytime but after 1.30 you can't get back in
If you have friends or loved ones you can stay with it helps a ton. I'm lucky that I have someone to stay with. Still getting great food and my pick of as many Australian made ciders as I can find. I didn't need to go to the tourist traps and I enjoyed just living everyday life in an Australian household.
That pisses me off, it always Sydney or Gold Coast they talk about as if nowhere else exists.
The term for bad beer isn’t it tastes like piss
It’s “ it tastes like cats piss “ 👍
You can eat much cheaper than this guy is saying but prices can vary widely. I don't tip for service period, nor do I know anyone who does. It is expected that for the wages they're paid, a reasonable standard of service is offered. I've actually had a restaurant waiter apologise when the swipe card reader asked me to input a tip amount. I also had a local restaurant guy ask if I was going to leave a tip and I replied "I'm a local and live just up the road - that's a bit cheeky isn't it?" and again got an apology!
and yes we dont tip in australia
Probably not the best video to watch. This bloke “stuffs up a lot of things). Tristan Kuhn (American backpacker) put out some decent entertaining stuff that Americans would find relatable, interesting and informative.
The “lockout law” was the presenters fuck up. You can get into drink, you just can’t do a “pub crawl/bar hop” after certain hours i.e can only get in before say 1am, but you could leave whenever you want. But then you can’t get into another pub. It was designed to stop a heap of pissheads roaming the streets and getting into fights. It’s since been scrapped.
You wanna watch Aussie videos by Aussies. Try Brianne Worth's channel
@@peterdubois65 Yep. Both Tristan and Brianne (although coming from totally different angles) would be right up Squirrels alley. And probably Isaac Butterfield on the same subject.
The one that Squirrel reacted to is one of the worst on RUclips, but for some reason most RUclipsrs tend to pick it (probably because of the number of views I suspect). It’s rubbish.
It all relative man if you work for tips or the minimum wage in America & come to Australia sure its gonna be expensive but if you live here minimum wage is $21.50 ish an hour ( me as a carpenter $75 an hour) with 4 week annual paid leave & universal health care.
Update to wage. $23.23 min wage now.
XXXX must of been queenslanders
When they say $100 remember that's only $70usd and our wages are higher
It's not as dangerous as people think. We don't have bears or wolves or wild cats. There are better videos than this.
The lockout laws only applied to Sydney and I think they have relaxed them you could drink till 3am you couldn't bar hop after 1.30 and those clubs are also where you get stitched up $9 for a beer that's not pub price more like S6 depending on where you are, haven't seen fosters for sale in a bottlo for more than 30 years, the guys who recommended XXXX are from Queensland not a bad beer Cheers
Gday Squirrel. Thanks for the clip. Possibly close to the mark for naive tourists. A chat with a local will steer you in the right direction. Australia would be left with only a few wowsers if a beer cost $9! Streuth, why stay? Immigration? Talk about anything you like, it's OK. Who confronts people with this question though?
average for a beer (pint) at my local is $11.
A rich American tourist who votes Democrat talks this way. The dude was probably in Sydney for a week with Mummy and Daddy paying the tab. “Don’t stray from the path”. FMD. How about not paying $9 for a beer, you wanker.
Lol's a croc will bite you on a path, it doesnt care as do snakes, 2 true taxed to buggery, 3 true they are prawns, but more likelly a snag on bbq, 4 - we dont drink fosters and yes pub close their doors to stop you pub crawling between venues 5 - true , 6 no tips required, 7 - public transport smells and is third world, 8 - true, 9 insults are commonplace ya flamin galah, 10 yes say gday mate,
Yes we have things that are deadly or dangerous but very rarely people have died. 🙄 You get bitten, stung or what ever we have antidotes for it.
Lockout laws don't exist now in Sydney. Stopped that a year ago but the damage is done now as Sydney night life is dead. It's not what it was like before the lockout laws they put in few years back after several people got king hit from drunks and they either got serious injuries or worst died.
I went to a council event with food trucks, Asian to Greek, pizza to chip-on-a-stick. The cheapest thing was a small portion of chips, $7. Large chips, $14. Small wood fire pizza, $18. Karaage chicken and rice, $18. I thought food trucks were meant to be cheaper alternatives to restaurants.
Food trucks are crazy expensive. It’s nuts. I used to love eating at them.
Where the hell were you paying that?
Food trucks are 'specialty' outlets, so you'll pay a premium. The cheap food from a truck is not really a part of Australian culture. Particularly when you're at an event, prices will be exorbitant.
Number 12.Don't take a majority of this list seriously!!!
Its not as expensive as they make out if you show just a little injenuity. If you want to throw money at every problem you face it will cost, like anywhere else. OH his $100 a day is around $65 US a day. Aaaaand the main reason most Aussies dont buy from the US is cost of shipping, so much more expensive than say, Russia, Afganastan and China. Coopers Red is not a bad drop before you go into the Craft styling beer. Honestly a major percentage of Australians are happy to see people immigrate here but not all are happy about how the government handles this issue, I am in this percentage, I love Indian food and I love Kebabs, Lol. OH YER... F#C* you Squirrel get your ass over here, tell the missus its a research deployment and promise a pet Koala to the kids.....Whatever it takes mate.
$100/day? wtf is he eating?
If you want to get here it's easy. Just get a divorce and put the kids up for adoption. 😂
