What you have created is a snug hitch, two of these on a single line is used to tie down aeroplane wings on light aircraft. I use a single snug hitch for hanging stuff up as it comes off with a single pull.
Recently, the volcano on whose slopes I live erupted, creating large quantities of volcanic ash covering all the rooftops of every small town nearby. This will surely help the cleaning process THANKS!!!
And if you have more things to lower, you walk down to get your rope, then walk back up to lower the next item, huh? 🤦🏿♂️ OR, this knot ain't for you. 🤷🏿♂️
Theoretically close to the weight rating of the rope with a normal knot. The harder you pull the tighter it gets… under tension it acts like a normal knot. That’s the magic of these kinds of “knots”
You should test this knot to see what a safe working load is
Admit it. You're a wizard.
He's a brave man... my wife would use that rope on me if she caught me doing that to the vacuum and risking the tile on the floor below!
Have you seen "bears hitch" for a more secure kamakazi knot?
I just saw that one yesterday. I thought it was a good one.

I just let it down by the cord, then drop the cord. But cool knot anyway.

Fantastic
Marvelous
Broke my leg got loop on wrong side
Now all that's left is to trip over stuff @ the bottom of the stairs
How reliable is it? can it be used for demanding work?
We use this in the fire department to lower tools/equipment off roofs, saves us carrying while descending ladders.
How much weight could this hold?

What's the name of this knot?

Ironic... or planned? Being posted like less than an hour after the bear hitch knot short
Complete coincidence. When I uploaded my short the first video to come up on my feed was the Bear Hitch. I laughed.
