Kate absolutely nailed this just like she does with every song she puts her heart n soul into everything that she does thank u for some of the best music I've ever listened to xx
Hey fellow music lovers - just wanted to point out the Beatles reference at the end of this version. She plays with the phrasing of "it's gonna be a long, long time," and comes in in the background singing "don't be long! don't be lo-o-o-ong." That's a reference to Blue Jay Way - a Beatles song written by George Harrison.
Mahavishnu80 Thanks for that bit of information, I love snippets like that. I believe the line "'S Murph, playing his guitar " refrain" in the track Moments Of Pleasure (Red Shoes) is also a tribute to Alan Murphy.
...on a cover of an Elton John song, they tribute the death of a guitarist, who died of an illness mostly stigmatized and reverred even in this day and age, with a candle in the wind. I can't not respect that.
As an ex rock musician myself, I love this cheeky, stylish, imaginative and classy arrangement ... and waving a conductors baton? ... only Kate would have thought of that - wonderful.
WOW!!. Seeing her live in September, seems so unreal that I'm going. Don't care what she does, I really don't as it's Kate Bush and just know that something good is going to happen. There are lots of wonderful talented people in the world but so rare in the music business. Go kate.
I just came to know that the empty chair, the guitar, the candle, and the cross-faded footage of Alan Murphy (Level 42) playing in the closing choruses is a Kate Bush tribute to him, who worked with her (several albums) and died back in 1989 of AIDS. Kate pays tribute to where he would be standing playing his guitar if alive. What a good heart. Love U, Kate. xxx ♥♥♥
Elton John said that when he had his civil partnership in 2005, he invited Kate and a lot of very famous people, around 600 people and all anybody wanted to meet was Kate Bush. They couldn't believe she was there.
Interesting. Britain and Australia do place pieces above other countries. I loved Jennifer Rush "The Power of Love" much more than Celine's. I read that it fared well in GB and Australia but it did not do well in the U.S.
@@johnwashburn7423 most people don't even realize there is another version of The Power of Love besides Celine's here in the US or that her version isn't the original. I prefer Celine's version but honestly the two aren't really that much different since Celine sang it almost the exact way that Jennifer Rush did. Imo it's just about which voice you prefer the most when it comes to those two versions
@@razrv3lc I am familiar with Celine; followed her for years. I discovered Rush's version quite by accident. In the rendition I have saved, she is on a stage, solo; I think her voice and the music arrangement are very powerful.
she's my 2nd cousin and I didn't know she'd done this until Sandra at Fives records told me today! Sandra took it to play on Essex radio's vinyl classics show yesterday.
The guitar was left on the chair in memory of guitarist Alan Murphy who was a session musician. This was is one of the last songs Alan worked on with Kate. Alan died in 1989 from an aids related illness aged just 35.
I can't believe this is the first time I've seen this- I think it defines the quality in Kate Bush that makes either an idolater or persecutor of any critic
I believe Britain voted it the best cover of all time. And it was the first and only time she did it, I believe. And then, it seems like it was a comedy project for her almost.
Avevo ascoltato da tempo questa versione e riascoltandola mi piace sempre, versione unica con la voce sussurrata quasi da Kate Bush con un arrangiamento bellissimo
Al Murphy played session on my friends album Surveillance in 1980... A Guernsey band "The Walkie Talkies" with Dave Fuller and Rob Spensley... An Amazing Guitarist and another lost to that horrible disease... xx
From the two rooms album where a host of people covered Elton John songs to raise money for HIV! Who would have Kate bush doing rocket man and smashing it! Better than Eltons in my view! She's such a talent!
Another well known cover from Elton John & Bernie Taupin performed by Kate Bush - The Sexiest Guest Conductor! I have always LOVED this Music...and used to sing "Rocket Man", OUT LOUD whilst DANCING around the living room, clapping to the rhythm of the Concertina&Pipe! (...) "And I think..It's gonna be a long, long time" (...)
Thank you England for giving the world Kate Bush. She may be the best artist the British isles ever produced in my very humble opinion.
Even when Kate is trying to be cheesy and lighthearted, her authenticity brings a tear to my addicted eye. Kate for ever.
Golden Horn she wasn’t, it was a tribute to one of her band members that had died and rocket man was his favorite song.
I think I just died and went to heaven
I can't believe I've never seen this video!
She's so talented and beautiful.
I love you Kate Bush.
She's one in a hundred billion.
Kate absolutely nailed this just like she does with every song she puts her heart n soul into everything that she does thank u for some of the best music I've ever listened to xx
Probably the greatest musical artist these islands have ever produced.
Gary MacMillan And also the world.
Dawaishi Moves Just my opinion. Oops I forgot, my fucking opinion. There, use of the f word for added gravitas.
Dawaishi Moves That's an insult to morons 😀
she's definitely one of them.
No joking. Kate's definitely a contender for the greatest female artist of all time. So go suck it Dawaishi

The chair with guitar and candle is for amazing guitaist Alan Murphy, who sadly died of Aids just before.
That bit always chokes me up, I thought he was a great guitarist

Thanks - I was wondering about that. Beautiful
You can also see Alan Murphy playing at the 3:04 and 3:28 time mark in the video.
As an ex rock musician myself, I love this cheeky, stylish, imaginative and classy arrangement ... and waving a conductors baton? ... only Kate would have thought of that - wonderful.
fantastic cover! never seen this or heard it before even though I know her music. Kate Bush is brilliant!
I love her, her voice, and her creativity. No else compares.
One can only listen to this with tears streaming down the cheeks.
Her voice is ethereal.
WOW!!. Seeing her live in September, seems so unreal that I'm going. Don't care what she does, I really don't as it's Kate Bush and just know that something good is going to happen. There are lots of wonderful talented people in the world but so rare in the music business. Go kate.
coming from Oz to see her on 16th. This should be on the list
lucky you I lucked out on tickets I would have paid £200 to see her.

awsome doesn't even cut it! I love this woman!!
Amazing performance from Kate Bush. Thanks, lady.
Elton John said that when he had his civil partnership in 2005, he invited Kate and a lot of very famous people, around 600 people and all anybody wanted to meet was Kate Bush. They couldn't believe she was there.
Genius .. best cover ever
this was a big hit for her in Australia. It went top 5 in 1992
Yes it did.Went to number 2

Beautiful version.Listen to it all the time.
Great version by the immensely talented Kate Bush. thanks for sharing
She is so charming on this video.
She moves with such an unbelievable grace! My heart is just melting down, when I'm looking at her.
she's my 2nd cousin and I didn't know she'd done this until Sandra at Fives records told me today!
Sandra took it to play on Essex radio's vinyl classics show yesterday.
I wish I was her cousin and, maybe, have the opportunity to meet her and have a conversation. Love her lots.
rob yuille maybe you can get her in gear to make a new album
Would you ask her to marry me? I am not a cousin; I promise.
Love it love it love it thank you Kate. No big surprise that she was invited to Elton's wedding and everyone wanted to talk to her.
Beautiful Kate.
my fave singer singing one of my faves songs
Every single visual and music detail is wonderful, witty...just noticed the creative Del Palmer's bass lines
Rest in Peace, Challenger crew, January 28th 1986.
+Julián Andrés Marín Silva Very nice thought, one I'm sure we all echo.
Amen...
In pieces actually. Hope they had a sense of humour.
Astaris Really disappointed with that comment. An apology would be good.
Sorry people...crew us alive and well...save one. These scammed deserve no respect. Alive and well.
Just love this version by the lovely Kate! - Almost Celtic Reggae.... Wonderful!
The guitar was left on the chair in memory of guitarist Alan Murphy who was a session musician. This was is one of the last songs Alan worked on with Kate. Alan died in 1989 from an aids related illness aged just 35.

Del rightly up in the mix. Great bass line. Kate just wonderful as ever
Such. Perfect music art - all- sync
Wow! I only just found out about this cover today. A great twist on a brilliant song!
Her crazy backing vocals is everything
I can't believe this is the first time I've seen this- I think it defines the quality in Kate Bush that makes either an idolater or persecutor of any critic
I believe Britain voted it the best cover of all time. And it was the first and only time she did it, I believe. And then, it seems like it was a comedy project for her almost.
She also did a cover of Sexual Healing, making her the only artist I can think of whose covers rival or better the original, IMO.
And Candle In The Wind correct me if I'm wrong.
Avevo ascoltato da tempo questa versione e riascoltandola mi piace sempre, versione unica con la voce sussurrata quasi da Kate Bush con un arrangiamento bellissimo
Weirdly insanely good
One of the very few songs...that are better than the original. Kate bush legend.
... indeed one of the few.
I agree. Interesting that the other one is another song made famous by the Beatles but better done by Elton: "Lucy in The Sky"
I think the original "LSD" is still better than the Elton one
Brilliant ! Her music is so outstanding perfect, even when she`s covering.
"The class is not water".....and she've infinity class.🔝👏👏👏👌
Al Murphy played session on my friends album Surveillance in 1980... A Guernsey band "The Walkie Talkies" with Dave Fuller and Rob Spensley... An Amazing Guitarist and another lost to that horrible disease... xx

Maravillosos 90s
Curious. I thoroughly enjoyed Kate Bush's take on Rocket Man. Exhilaratingly original! :-)
I wish a concert..
Nobody looks greater while bass playing than Del does!
Kate Bush does reggae! Does it get any better than this! :) Wouldn't mind knowing what those backing singers are up to now?
I love you allways Kate Bush.❤💋
I love you Kate !
I thought I was the only one crying whilst listening to this little gem...
NICE!
The influence of George Formby still lingering.
Different to the version released in the uk. Interesting variation!
