I am so happy for you on your Kate Bush discovery. Her album The Dreaming is excellent. Aerial released in 2005 was excellent and saw her return 12 years after the album Red Shoes from which this was released.
Congratulations!! I envy you your new discovery. Been a fan since 87 or 88. I always find new things I never noticed in her music. But I dearly wish I could go back to the first time I ever heard “The Dreaming” album. Never had an album gobsmack me like that one.

Speak for yourself. She may not have been top 40, but plenty of Gen X’ers loved her and then “The Red Shoes” cake out, it was in every music store. This video was on rotation on MTV. I can’t remember what they called it, but they had a few hours of “alternative/grunge” music and Kate Bush was always on, as was Bjork.
@@davidgollop2807 Not true. She made at least 3 trips to the U.S. and visited Canada to promote Hounds of Love. She appeared on Saturday Night Live in 1978 and was back in America and did record promotions for H.O.L at Tower Records in New York City on two occasions. She also flew back and met with record company officials in California in the late 80's. She did not do well commercially in the U.S. because she never toured and her record company failed to properly promote her and market her albums. Plans were in the works early in her career to tour the States, but the record company (EMI) pulled the plug because they thought it was too costly. This is the first comment on this video in 3 years, so I know no one will see it. However, Kate Bush is a Goddess who should be worshipped! As a singer, writer, producer, dancer, etc., name someone in the last 30 years that was as innovative and creative as Kate. Beyonce? No disrespect to her, but Kate Bush did all it without AutoTune.
Kate's music didn't get airplay in the US. I can't remember ever hearing her music on the radio. I remember seeing videos on MTV, but not that often. I feel in love with her after seeing her on the Kenny Everett Video Show, performing WOW! back in the 70's. That is how I got into her music. Guess I am just lucky.
It was a mixed bag in the US. The Love and Anger video got pretty heavy rotation, and made me into what, at that time, was a late Kate adopter. But the local record shop had all her albums on CD, and I bought almost all of them in short order. Kate was the first artist I bought entirely on CD I think. In an era when viral blowouts are the expectation, it’s easy to look back and think her exposure in the US constituted obscurity. But remember the twin dynamic of the pre-internet era: massive exposure was harder, due to a handful of gatekeepers, but a number of small radio DJs still had some leeway in their programming choices. And albums were sold not streamed; I don’t think the royalties were princely, but they existed more than they do in a post-Napster world. Kate’s era was one where massive overnight fame was rarer, but musicians had a shot at living off moderate success.
Even as a long time fan of Kate's I sometimes forget that in addition to being a great singer and song writer, she is a fabulous dancer too! Plus her quirky sense of humor really comes through in her videos. She's a little crazy, very cool, and super talented, and I love her!
This lady is so talented. I never heard of her before until about a month ago as if I was living on another planet. Her singing, dancing and choreographies are truly amazing. Certainly one of the greatest talents of our time. Thank you Kate, for sharing your great gifts with us and I will always be a fan of yours.
I like the state Kate exudes in this. It seems so uniquely authentic. Unlike most of her music videos its less a portrayal of a character and more an expression of a persistent, wiry, tense, and exhausted self.
How many of todays artists could come up with a song about a Rubberband, make it catchy, sound good, write and produce, put in brilliant choreographed video. None, there will never be another like her
Kept on hearing this song in my dreams and I was seriously freaked out when I found out it was real. My mom told me she listened to this song when I was a baby. That was 25 years ago. It’s amazing how I can’t remember anything from the past five years but this song I may have heard when I was a new born is sitting in the back of my mind.

i remember first music i heard too. it's kind of cool to know what music we heard very early in this life. i heard Louis Armstrong, Aerosmith, Celine Dion
It's a deep sense you have more musical sensibility and possible talent than you think. I had memories from falling asleep with captain of her heart by double in the 80s, we remember what is strongest to us so just replace memories you forget or don't want to remember with these in life. You will be better from it, I promise

My friend played one of her songs sensual world and than I didn't understand it and I thought it was indeed strange for music. But THIS in INCREDIBLE. This is one of my favorites from Kate. It’s a bonkers track and the musical elements of it are so addictive on the ears. There’s nothing else like this and after 30 years it craps all over most modern music production originality. Only now is The Red shoes album showing it’s genius.
I was born in 1993, the same year as this album came out. My first musical memory of any music was Kate Bush and this album. I grew up listening to Kate and she’s been a major, reoccurring role in my life. Words cannot express how she’s molded my life by the inspiration of her music. What I would do to hang out with her over tea and just pick her mind. Kate, thank you for giving the world such excellence in your artistry, and for helping me be the person I am today.
I accidentally misheard some Kate bush lyrics and for the longest time wouldn't listen to sat in your lap. But just. Recently I heard the song again and I heard it right! And I love that song now!
Just watched her film The Line, the Cross and the Curve, and this is no joke the first scene of the film. There's nothing before this, it just opens with this without any context. Absolute legend.
One of the most amazing moments in my entire life was the chance to get to see this remarkable genius perform live almost 10 years ago, at The Apollo, second row from the front. Something I never thought was going to happen. And, of course, she didn't disappoint! 😉😉
I love this video so much. How she ends up in a straight jacket while everyone is just smiling & happy. I feel like there's a message there. It's great. Very creative.
This choreography is unmatched til this day. WTF? Kate is just next level genius. That Yo-yo dance is just insane. I just don't understand how someone can be so talented in all forms of art
As someone who has done martial arts off and on for much of my life, as well as a short stint in ballet (funny enough), I can see her timing and movement skills are seriously high. Had she wanted to, she likely would be a top level performer in those arenas. But my ears and eyes absolutely appreciate that she stuck with music/dance. Such complexity and depth of insight, she must be amazing internally. C. Jung would have loved her I imagine.
Jesse Herbert Maybe you already know, but her brother taught Karate and competed in Kudo ( a Japanese form of archery I believe). Kate trained with him often as a kid.
Fantastic to see Kate Bush getting recognition from a younger audience. I'm in my 30s & when I was a kid, my mum often used to play her tapes. I was slow to appreciate her work but around 10 years ago I was searching for music on RUclips and happened across "Hounds of Love" and became hooked.. My tastes have changed quite a lot, glad to say, because there's genius to her lyrics and what a voice !! Maybe that's what "Stranger Things" has done for so many people.

I've been a fan since I discovered her - from a friend- in the 1990s. Her voice, creativity, and beautiful prose has helped walk me through many a tough time (and amazing one) in my life. A true legends legend.
Her marriage of interpretive dance to her song lyrics and music is unparalleled. This is why calling her an otherworldly musical genius almost seems like an understatement.
Kate Bush was the very first pin-up I had on my wall growing up as a young boy I found the most beautiful creature out there for the one of better words and she's a marvellous dancer choreographer singer you name it she conquered it all
She's a songwriter composer, PRODUCER, a female producer...a musician. At my watch it's 2024, free info for those "fans" stuck in 1978 ... she's 66 years old.
Her music is an amazing memory of the times, but her skills in choreography are at another level altogether. Only now getting to see all the vids associated. Amazing!
Happily, the 'forgotten' status is going away. Of Kate's 121 songs that are streaming, this one has 2.7 million streams - adding about 1500/day. Position of this song in her list is #45 out of the 121. Kate's R.U.T.H. has coattails, and is making nearly all of her creations visible.
All these many years later and still love listening to this magical woman sing beautifully and still get emotional.since 1978 I accidentally discovered Kate bush while thumbling through record albums at peaches records in ft.lauderdale FL. My eyes paused at the album cover. I had never heard of her, but solely decided to take a chance and buy it, because I loved the cover, and I am forever grateful that I did.her music library is excellent and I have everything she's released.thank you friends for taking me to buy random records and thank you Kate bush forever being in my heart, mind and soul for all these years.
Know what you mean. There are KB songs that you understand, KB songs that you like, and some ... well, some, you don't have a f*****g clue what they're about, and yet they just blow you away, like this one. I think it's her choice of musicians and arrangements. Oh, and if you're like me there are those that simply lay waste to you; 'Coral Room' .... 'Under the Ivy' ... 'Hello Earth' ....
Where do you live?were you serious? I live in upstate NY and ever since The sensual world came out I’ve been obsessed with her music. Everyone who knows me knows I am the geek who loved Kate bush! She is the greatest artist alive.
The DJ at my 21st asked for any special requests. This was the only song I requested and he bought the CD single especially for it. He didn't seem impressed with my choice but almost 30 years on I still love it :)
I have loved this track since it first came out (on the day I passed my motorbike test) but this is the first time I have ever seen the video. Another example of Kate's creative genius.
I've always thought this song is about her wishing she was flexible like a rubberband so that when bad things happen, she has the ability to bounce back quickly and not break. "See those trees, bend in the wind, I feel they've got a lot more sense than me". Trees don't try and stop the wind from hitting them, they bend in the wind because the wind's only there temporarily and then it's gone. It's about being adaptable and still managing to survive
That's the sense I get from the whole 'Red Shoes' LP. She was low at the time: her mum had died, and several friends. 'I don't feel safe, I feel life has blown a great big hole through me'.
How Kate's videos never garnered more awards is beyond me. The commitment she puts towards her dancing is almost unparalleled even by Madonna. Kate's body is a full vessel of art. I hope she releases this full movie in the future.
The caliber of her talent is spellbound. I was listening to her music in the early 80's, but had no ideal how deep her talent and charismatic charm travels.
Just love her! Kate Bush was the first female singer to really, and successfully, combine the theatrical and avant-garde with mainstream pop. So beautifully expressive and creative, in her music and movement.
It fascinates me so much, how her accessible pop music sensibility can integrate meticulous artistry and composition without either aspect being compromised. Her works are pop songs with mass appeal and serious musical experiments at the same time. She is still the best example of art-pop around, I think.
This song reminds me of walking past the Mystery Park and under the bridge on Smithdown Road to get to Greenbank College in Liverpool in '95-96 - kept a good walking pace and got great life advice from Kate! 🙂
I’ve always thought it was a travesty this song only reached No 12 as it was far and away one of the best songs of 1993. I believed that when I was 14 and still believe it at 43.
1993 was a revolutionary year for music: pop music, house, jungle, and the birth of Techno. Kate's RBG competed against meat loaf's i'd do anything for love, ub40's falling in love with you, etc... though I also consider this was way superior than the aforementioned contenders
This is some serious ass creativity, I'm completely mesmerized by this artist. I just discovered her and I have not even begun to think about picking my jaw up off the ground! WHAT?!!!!!
who cares if it's different from her other stuff. she'd taken a 3 year hiatus and to me this is a kickass comeback song...kate has done so many different sounds and is pretty incredible in all of them. if you're not willing to open your mind and see the entire contents of an artist's brain (more than just her "dark and mysterious" tracks) i don't care for your opinion.

Her marriage of interpretive dance to her song lyrics and music is unparalleled. This is why calling her an otherworldly musical genius almost seems like an understatement.
Kate was the music of my infancy and continued through adolescence into adulthood. A permanent fixture in my life. 50 next year.
Just heard this song for the first time and it blown me away. Takes you to another dimension where your superpowers are
Kate Bush was the very first pin-up I had on my wall growing up as a young boy I found the most beautiful creature out there for the one of better words and she's a marvellous dancer choreographer singer you name it she conquered it all
She's a songwriter composer, PRODUCER, a female producer...a musician.
At my watch it's 2024, free info for those "fans" stuck in 1978 ... she's 66 years old.
Her music is an amazing memory of the times, but her skills in choreography are at another level altogether. Only now getting to see all the vids associated. Amazing!
I first watched Kate on Top Of The Pops singing “Wuthering Heights” - I’ve followed her ever since. Her talent knows no bounds.
This girl was ahead of time.
Genius 😎
Born in '55. Never heard of her. She rocks!🎸
no one will ever match kates amazing talent
This is such a fun and addicting song. I keep having to go back to it. It's only underrated and forgotten under Kate's amazing discography.
I love this song, since the 1st time I heard it in the 90's. For some magical reason it stayed with me. Kate Bush is such a marvellous artist 🤍🎙🎼🙂🙏
I've become absolutely obsessed with this song. I listen to it everyday.
Flo Jo 'A Coral Room' makes me cry every time. It's unbelievable how powerful and tragic yet beautiful that song is.
Absolutely love this track and video. Loved Kate for years but only recently had the courage to admit it to my friends - lol.
Amazing singer
Where do you live?were you serious?
I live in upstate NY and ever since The sensual world came out I’ve been obsessed with her music.
Everyone who knows me knows I am the geek who loved Kate bush!
She is the greatest artist alive.
You know people say that the world ain't perfect. That is true until you discover Kate.
She gets pretty close.
One of Kate’s absolute best songs. The Red Shoes in general is fantastic and unfairly maligned in the fandom.
The Red Shoes is a very good album. Without Eat the Music, it would have been even better...
Absolutely, and I don't know why.
@@nadiazayman779 It doesn't really matter, I love it too 😉
@@beathusk1018 eat the music is cute
The Red Shoes is easily one of my favourite albums. The only song I'm not keen on is Constellation of the Heart
+Michelle Gazzard No the song is obviously about Kate Bush wanting to open an office supplies factory and become a rubber band mogul.
This quote was from "Lily", who is the psychic she consulted and is also featured in the video for the same song~~
Its about her thinking she wishes she could keep it together and go with the punches life throws ...
IIRC, she wrote it about her mother's death, that she could get past the grief and move on, so I think that your analysis is correct
How Kate's videos never garnered more awards is beyond me. The commitment she puts towards her dancing is almost unparalleled even by Madonna. Kate's body is a full vessel of art. I hope she releases this full movie in the future.
It's part of The Line The Cross and The Curve, you''ll find it on RUclips. I'm sure you've found it by now!
She's a real artist, there aren't many of them.
The caliber of her talent is spellbound. I was listening to her music in the early 80's, but had no ideal how deep her talent and charismatic charm travels.
Vibes of Palmer's Addicted to Love, Prince's Cream and Kate's another masterpiece, Cloud busting.
What I love about Kate is her uniqueness and unconventionality as perfectly illustrated here...
It's amazing how effortless she sounds when singing so loud and so high.
The Red Shoes is an excellent album, but then again they all are.
Kent Mains the only one i dont like is sensual world and lionheart loses its mojo halfway through
Leon Tarkshina I like sensual world but agree that Lionheart loses steam on side 2. Hammer Horror is a gem though.
i like the sensual world now tho
Kent Mains Agreed, one of my favourites alongside Hounds of Love. She started her gigs last year with 'Lily' - perfection!
Fiona Skywalker Wish I could have been there, have only heard some mediocre bootlegs so far.
This song reminds me of walking past the Mystery Park and under the bridge on Smithdown Road to get to Greenbank College in Liverpool in '95-96 - kept a good walking pace and got great life advice from Kate! 🙂
superb choreograprhy in this video
1993 in the making baybay
Wonderful and unique. Thought so since first hearing her in 1979 at the age of 14.
I still think " The Kick Inside" is one of the finest debut albums ever recorded.
I’ve always thought it was a travesty this song only reached No 12 as it was far and away one of the best songs of 1993. I believed that when I was 14 and still believe it at 43.
1993 was a revolutionary year for music: pop music, house, jungle, and the birth of Techno. Kate's RBG competed against meat loaf's i'd do anything for love, ub40's falling in love with you, etc... though I also consider this was way superior than the aforementioned contenders
i love this song so much, kate is one of the best songwriters and performers out there
This is some serious ass creativity, I'm completely mesmerized by this artist. I just discovered her and I have not even begun to think about picking my jaw up off the ground! WHAT?!!!!!
You've got some catching up to do. If you want to survive the experience, I wouldn't listen to "This Woman's Work" from 1989 quite yet.😉
First time since 1993 watching this.
Forgotten gem!
I like Kate Bush music
I love the lyric ,'rubber band hold me trousers up',just mad genius of a song.
who cares if it's different from her other stuff. she'd taken a 3 year hiatus and to me this is a kickass comeback song...kate has done so many different sounds and is pretty incredible in all of them. if you're not willing to open your mind and see the entire contents of an artist's brain (more than just her "dark and mysterious" tracks) i don't care for your opinion.
If you're watching this, you have superior music taste❤
kate was very bendy. Loved this when it came out many years ago, seems like yesterday. Favourite part is when she says" here i go etc"
An absolute goddess of art !!!
a muse...!
she knows the body dominance and the voice reflection at the same time, like a PINA BAUSCH on music !!
I love Kate when she's in catchy pop mold. This is one of her most catchy!
Yeah, this and The Big Sky. ;-)
So glad to live in the era of this talented woman god bless you Kate .
Kate bush is a renaissance artist….period.
Totally not my type of music but this song and video are contagious. Dam my wife and her music choices.
adam philmlee it grows on ya!
Please listen to My Lagan Love by Kate , you will love , she is the best female artist and addictive.....
Quel talent, Kate est unique, what else ? ❤❤❤
