  • Driving down Interstate 5 in our FJ Cruiser with only tube doors to protect us from the elements... It's getting a little sporty in here... and very wet.
This is a classic tube door fail when the weather turns and it starts raining inside the truck. But don't let a rain storm prevent you from using your tube doors... just know you're going to get wet driving in the rain with no doors.
driving in the rain with no doors... it's an adventure.

I'm a little confused why you would remove the doors on an overlanding rig. I see tube doors on rock buggies and exo-caged crawlers, but for extended overland travel, keeping the rain, dust, and noise outside the cab makes the journey much more comfortable and reduces fatigue.

When the sun is out there is nothing better and we really enjoy the open cockpit feeling. Over summer we will go on overland adventures as well as hard core off-road 4x4 trails where the tube doors do really shine. Rather than keep replacing the factory doors with tube doors for the 4x4 trails, we just leave the tube doors on through summer which usually isn't a problem... unless we hit a rain storm, or a dust bowl :-)
But yes overland journey's usually don't require the tube doors and creature comfort on a long trip is a plus!

thank you... I love the look and all the visibility gained too. We haven't put up a video but it is pretty easy. The adjustment for the tube doors is made a the latching mechanism on the tube door so after the first time it is supper easy to pop them on. The reason they adjust there is so you don't affect the factory doors which makes them easy to put back on... Although easy i do recommend changing out doors as a two person job because the factory doors are awkward and a little heavy.
