- Don’t miss what happened to our 4x4 FJ Cruiser at the end in this overland journey on the Naches Wagon trail. See what makes this off road area so special and why we keep taking our 4WD FJC offroading over the Naches trail to Eastern Washington via this historic wagon trail.
if you are thinking about taking your 4x4 or off road truck on the Naches trail than this overland video is a must to understanding what kind of off road trail you're in for. You'll see where our FJ Cruiser has it's challenges with the Naches Wagon Trail and why we love it.

The bird appeared in the right place at the right time. Perfect!
Thanks!! It definitely freaked me out a little... =;-)
The bird landing on your head in the first 2 minutes was awesome. Great video and definitely a trail I'd love to hit with my cruiser!
Thank you for the note... that bird was cool and a little freaky. The wagon trail is great and one I enjoy traveling on a couple of times each year. On the east side, the whole Naches area is filled with trails to explore. I hope you get a chance to run the wagon trail and explore the area.
With that background music I was surprised not to hear “Welcome Troglodytes!”
(Same song as Trogly’s Guitar Show)
Love the bird cameo!
kind of freaked me out a little :-)
Loved this... would really like to drive that trail some time.
Thank you.... it really is a great way to cross the Cascades.
I love the Cascades. First time there was 2015 for the NWOR. Saw you guys there too. beautiful country, love the high country and the dry hot weather.
That trail looks very tight...more like a BIG quad trail in places. my XJ might fit a little better but that FJ sure looks slick with the long travel setup.
The 2015 NWOR was fun... even if it was 100+ out there =:-) If you like it high and dry, we're heading to the Steens Mountains (SE Or.) keep an eye out for a video... if we return!
Been doin trail every year since high school
that is great... don't you think there is something special about it.
Your FJ is awesome man
Thanks... we like her!
Time for warrior taillights! I've been eyeing those for some time now..
Not for us... the problem is metal light guards attach to the body panel and will push in against the panel causing body damage. A plastic tail light cracks without causing body damage (we've broken two). Changing a tail light is easy. Pulling a dent out of a body panel is another story. :-)
That last section is tight. I have a dent in my door to prove it.😂
that is tough but every dent you learn from makes you a better driver ! see you on the trail!
when that fly flew by at 0:51 I thought it was in my house
HaHa....
Christian Rosario
what?
I GOT A DENT ON THE EXACT SAME TREE!!!
ha... who would plant a tree there right next to the trail :-)
Last Great Road Trip I was is my 91 SAS pickup, dropped down the ledge and my bed smacked that tree. Gave every person in my group a debt in the same spot lol. Made me buy sliders
Awesome. Wish you had some more trail content!
Have you had any issues with the throwout bearing on your manual? Mine just started making noises..uhh
should have a bunch of trail content including Rubicon and Baja... The truck has 125k+ miles and not trouble with the throwout bearing yet.
Dem bugs is lowd man
Well... that mic is really good :) haha
Great video! ... noob question here.. is there only one way up and the same route back down??
thank you. There are two alternatives. One is the Highway... the other is an easy gravel road. In this video (ruclips.net/video/uAIyQLeys9M/видео.html) we went west to east over the pass on the naches and then back east to west on the gravel... check a map but I think it is forest road 70.
can you get through it with JKU with a 3" suspension lift and 33s?
😂 how long have u had it? An if u don’t have recovery gear I wouldn’t advise it...... u can take a JKU just about anywhere in the country off road. It’s one of the few vehicles that can do any of these trails straight from the factory. Get a winch first or make sure u have front an rear diffs before u get to crazy. Stay safe an have fun
Nice doors on your fj. Who makes them?
those tube doors are made by Metal Tech 4x4. I love it when the weather turns good and I can have them on all the time. Fun on the highway... amazing visibility on the trails. Just don't get caught in the rain ruclips.net/video/PjZ3tBretRU/видео.html :-)
One pull of the rope on my stihl and i could be driving my dodge truck through those trees with ease😉👍😆🤣
Haha.
Thanks for sharing... how wide is your fj from outside of tire to outside of tire? I don't know if i'd fit through that last section.
Our fj cruiser is at 82 inches wide. I still think I'd of made it through unscathed if I had, had a good spotter with me on that trip. :-)
I would have added a rock under that rear tire to save your tail lens...;) Thanks for sharing your adventure.
RUclips University of Hawkshaven
Your right, stacking a couple of rocks would have helped. This is where traveling alone leave me wanting for a spotter to help.
I might make it clean...I'm 80 1/2" wide from outside of tire to outside of tire on my f-350 tructor.
I have a Tundra Crewmax, do you think it would fit down that trail? I am running a 4.5 inch lift with 35s
That is a tough one... the trail does not really require much ground clearance. In places the trail is narrow and winds through trees and cut banks making it best for a short wheel base.
The length of the truck will make for a tough go in some spots and there are not really any alternative routes around. That said, Ive seen guys with full site land rovers take their truck through. It will depend how patient you are working through squeeze and how attached you are to body parts.
You might want to find a group going and do a ride along then judge for yourself.
thanks for the reply and the advice, i'll get my buddy to go and ride along in his Taco
Is this doable for stock rigs? I got a 98 4runner I wanna take on it
Not the truck it's the driver. I know a lot of guys who take stock 4Runners and FJ Cruisers through. If it is wet and muddy places get hard but for the most part this is a pretty manageable trail in a stock 4x4. The trail is narrow in parts so know your truck's corners and bring a spotter.
Awesome. Thanks for the reply
Took mine there tons of times
Nice FJ but its Not Overlanding if your not off grid for weeks or months at at time.
Potato... Patato :-) yes and the good thing is you can easily spend a couple of weeks camping and exploring the Natche area. The wagon trail is simply the more famous way to cross the cascades and get to the Natche area. If you really want to get off grid for a couple of weeks of fun check out our Steens Mountain video ruclips.net/video/AApZSfyxfHs/видео.html
Nice profile picture douche bag “nOT OveeRLanDiNG”
what is your suspension set up?
check out our walk around video that talks about it ruclips.net/video/nec_hjBcSqM/видео.html
Last Great Road Trip will do, thanks. I just picked up a 2013 manual trans trail teams & trying to decide what I wanna do suspension wise.
also check out our suspension discussion on the website... www.lastgreatroadtrip.com/4x4-tech/gear-review/fj-cruiser-lift-kits/
Last Great Road Trip thanks!
Last Great Road Trip I've been thinking Camburg long travel front & metal tech long travel rear.
