Replace the leaking Cam Shaft Position Sensors and all 4 solenoid magnets then place the MB sacrificial harness ($10 each x 4) between the main wiring harness connection and the updated solenoids. This way if there ever is a leak; the sacrificial harness is designed to stop oil from getting to the main wiring harness and ultimately saving your harness and the ECU....$40 preventative fix. For those wishing to keep the existing solenoids (for vehicles with less than 50K-AMG or 80K-Standard MB); the sacrificial harness is compatible just make sure to check fitment prior to purchase.

I have a small list of cars that I check almost daily, including the E63 for the past 3 plus years. The only two red sedans I saw one had 92k on MB world(sold to vroom), the other one had 110k... So quite high miles. They're also is a red wagon that sold on bring a trailer last year for $92k(it's for sale again now BTW)
And then just this week, somebody listed a red 2014 sedan for $85k lol... That's a bit high imo 😂
Either way, it's definitely not a color you see everyday. I was looking for either a red or blue E63. A blue with the dark red mahogany interior would have been amazing find as well

I definitely plan on making all those kinds of videos. My experience with the rattle on startup, it can be numerous things sometimes it is the magnets. But usually it is the timing chain tensioner. Mercedes has quite a few revisions on those, it doesn't seems like they got it correct until very very end of the m157. Even my friends 2014 had a failed passenger tensioner at 2,400 mi.

So what happens when you find oil on the ECU connectors and pins? It is not a lot but I have oil on some of the pins. Should I spray them with contact cleaner? Should I disconnect the primary battery first? I could see the wrap on the wire harness was soaked in oil so I had a bad feeling I'd find oil on the ECU pins. I am wondering if I should cut the old soaked harness wrapping. Any advice would be appreciated! Also, all my cam position sensors and magnets are leaking oil, some pretty heavily. Should these be sprayed off as well with contact cleaner? I want them to be "safe" while I wait for my new ones to come in. Thank you for all the videos and sorry for the questions.

    • @ExoticCarDIY

Good catch! Yeah you should be able to clean it all off and be fine. As long as there's not a constant source of oil still pumping it up in there. How do you feel about the 5.5 vs the current 4.0 v8? I’m torn between this or a c63s AMG.
The older infotainment and different engine are my main concerns. I absolutely love the design of the interior and exterior of these cars over the c63s, but I’m not sure if I would regret not buying the 4.0 and having an updated infotainment system.

    • @ExoticCarDIY

      Both great cars, great engines.
My only experience with the class was the w204 and I found the quality pretty low and the size tiny. The 205 may have been improved, dunno.
If money was not a concern, is go w213 with the 4.0.
I almost did, but decided to get a f430 instead and the 212 as the daily.
I do think the 212 has then where it looks, the power is pretty equally with some minor tweaks.

It's actually holding up perfectly. Having said that, I think I still will change out both to the aftermarket part I linked in the description. There was a discussion on the form about these, and the bushing just looks more robust in general, I think it would be an upgrade without sacrificing anything

Hey man. I have a slight clunk at tight parking lot turns, showed it to some mechanic, he wasnt able to tell me what it is. Some people suggested its sway bar end links or maybe the control arm. Do you by any chance know what it could be?

My guess is it is the driver side camber cross truck / control arm just like I fixed in this video.
I've had three e63s, and every single one has had this issue regardless of miles

Hey man, I appreciate your videos! I checked my sensors and they’re dry. However the white harness clips don’t see to lock again. Any suggestions? I don’t want them to pop off while driving

I have not seen this issue, generally if they are correctly shoved all the way in, the white clip will press forward to lock.
Maybe as a test, if you remove it again, does the white tab move forward and back freely?

@@ExoticCarDIY Not to the full extent. They seem to go back a fraction of what it should. I mistakenly broke one. Looking for a solution to that issue now.

Do we have to disconnect the battery before disconnecting the ECU?

Generally, that's always a good rule of thumb. But I didn't for a quick check. Just don't try to mess with the ignition obviously

Is there an alignment needed after replacing the control arm?

Most likely no, unless your car has the adjustable "crash bolts" installed for some reason

Where did you get the intake tubes? I have the OEM ones but I feel like they're cheap quality.

All in all seems like a nice E63. Looking forward to many future videos. Best of luck with it. Keating Imports seem like your typical scum bag used car dealer.
