The tear away colors correlate with your belt…white, blue, purple, brown, black. The shrimp is a jiu jitsu move…the knee elbow escape🤙
The heavy canvas is the actual gi material…they are that heavy😊
It was a cop to me even before I knew it could be cut - I thought it was a really clean shoe. Might have to try to cop 2 pair, so I can cut one.
Im gonna give my opinions on why each color is where it is
Blue belt: toe box: this is the first belt up, some may say it’s the “easiest” to level up to and the toe box more than likely is the first part of your shoe to get thrashed or cut up while skating.
Purple on the laces: many competitions begin allowing foot attacks at purple belt like toe holes and heel hooks (also explaining the back panel) but these attacks involve wrapping up the foot up by the laces
Brown: really have no idea would love to hear some opinions
Black: that age old saying “a black belt only covers 2% of your ass you have to do the rest” but also it could represent that there is such a small percentage of black belts compared to the rest of jiu jitsu practitioners, it’s also the last part that would naturally come apart showing how much work and effort would have to go into truly achieving that.
Red: this one might actually be the most brilliant of them all. Red belts are the top of the charts in the world of jiu jitsu, almost an “honorary” rank where you do so much and leave an impact to the actual world of jiu jitsu (almost like saint hood) and it’s behind the (black) swoosh (belt)! That’s some real thought right there
Just cutting off the swoosh to reveal the red, gives out paris sbs vibes a lot.
These ended up being super nice in hand. I haven’t cut mine yet. I might do one of them. There’s something satisfying about having one shoe original and one cut. Overall, excellent execution! Great video too!

these are amazing! i put on some black laces from another sb pair and they look amazing , i wish the laces they had provided were the oval sb laces and not these flat laces , But i have enough sb that i can use the laces off another pair , and let me tell you , cut up , with purple laces is the right choice .
