Endgame, like most MCU moves since the first Avengers, is great for giving everyone a big moment or two and keeping everyone entranced by all the moving parts, but never seems to find time for actual character development. X-Men Days of Future Past is a cinematic masterpiece and honestly one of the best comic book films of all time. One of the reasons why this movie is so powerful is because of Charles Xavier. I used to not care for Professor X. He would always either get captured, comatose, or even “killed” constantly and characters like Storm and Cyclops will take the lead in his place. This movie changed my opinion on Xavier. We see a man who was rougish, eager, energetic, and most importantly, a hopeful person from First Class to becoming a broken, depressed and even more jaded than Magneto. James MacAvoy did such a fantastic job on selling the depressionof Xavier that I wanted him to heal. I wanted him to lead the X-Men. This scene is obviously one of my favorite scene in the movie where his future self has to give him a pep talk. I honestly wish something like that would happen to me. I would argue that DOFP was MacAvoy’s strongest performance in the X-Men films. I wish I could experience this film again for the first time.
I think Days of Future Past is the BEST comic book movie ever made. That opening action / chase sequence alone was perfectly crafted. They made those sentinels - bad guys we've never seen on film before and some people have never even heard of before look as terrifying as well as bad ass as Darth Vader when he cut through all those troops in Rogue One.
Yes! One of my favourite if not my favourite comic film ever. This feels like a real X-Man film not just a Wolverine film. Great adaptation of the comic love the comics.
I'm a huge fan of Mystique telling Nightcrawler "because we shouldn't have to" [hide being a mutant] in X2, but this one's right up there! And admittedly has a bit more backstory behind it.
This is the most inspiring scene in any movie. My big sister who I love has been diagnosed with personality disorder, and about a year ago she started getting violent so we had to take her to a mental hospital. Her last words to me were " I hate you" and at that time I thought I was strong but in reality that really took a toll on my mental health. I stopped hoping and caring and just let my darkness consume me. I stopped eating and caring for myself. I wish I could just tell my sister that I forgive her and I love her. And I just want her to be my sister again. I know y'all don't give a fuck about me, but I just wanted to share with the people who do care or are going through this. You will recover.
Well, I think this could be a little late to read, but I think that despite what you and your sister have lived, don't lose hope, keep believing, and forgive what could have been painful. I think the way that you can move on is forgiving her and yourself, and love her despite everything
I'm in a similar situation with my own sister. I share your feelings. All I want is to see my beautiful sister's light return to her. Until then I can't support her decisions and refuse to allow her to continue to hurt the family. Stay strong friend.
Ride The Lightning Oh shut the fuck please, You're type of nigga to go to someone's funeral at be like "The guy sleep with my girl so I ain't even mad"
Yeah, hehehehehe. A Deadpool joke at those who do not get the timelines. The film this scene comes from explains it. Logan is canon to before DOFP happens, thanks to Wolverine 2. Not after it, since Logan's plot included food and water additives as a Government second go at Last Stand's cure plot.
@@whatsupdanger3045 Nah this is definitely more than "just a cool scene" like Thor's entry. This has depth and has a message. There aren't a lotta scenes like this in the MCU. The ones I can remember off the top of my head are 1. Drax talking to Mantis in gotg 2, and 2. That Erskine telling cap about why he was the one chosen for the experiment in cap 1
The "Hope" line always makes me tear up. Such a simple word with a powerful meaning, and a powerful foundation for believing. The fact reality can be really crappy, but to have the ability to hope everything will become better is a better motivator then most.
Tristan I see that one went right over your head, you insult somebody for grammar when your grammar is comparable to text speak on a mobile phone. I see that childish insults are certainly not something that you are above.
Future Professor X: It's not their pain you're afraid of. It's yours, Charles. And as frightening as it can be, that pain will make you stronger. If you allow yourself to feel it, embrace it, it will make you more powerful than you ever imagined. It's the greatest gift we have: to bear their pain without breaking. And it comes from the most human part of us: hope. Please. Charles, we need you to hope again. Past Professor X: I never thought that I......Actually "We" could say something so touching Future Professor X: 😊
I was studying for university entrance exam when this movie came out. I was feeling absolutely hopeless and desperate as I had already failed couple of times before. One day I imagined my older self, few years from the future who had passed the entrance already, appearing in front of me like this scene and telling me to hope again. Now in a couple of months I'm graduating with master's degree and I imagined the scene again in my head, but this time I was the one telling my younger self to keep the hope up. I just had some of the best years of my life.
Wow, knowing that poor, poor Charles ends up failing, that his mind turns against him and he ends up destroying his own legacy in a cruel twist of fate, in "Logan" just makes this initially inspiring scene cripplingly depressing in retrospect. Seriously poor bastard.
Yep. If Charles and the X-Men had to die for that movie they should have died beating some intergalactic being or something, not just killed by Charles accidentally and then going out like a chump against a 2 bit Wolverine clone. Something honorable you know? Like Logan himself ended up getting.
I'm okay with a 90-something man dying, but not the way he did in Logan and not after all the crap that happened in the movie. Logan is actually a solid film if considered an alternate-universe stand-alone; as a part of the franchise, it doesn't fit. It's totally inconsistent with DOFP; there's no way that between 2023 (end of DOFP) and 2029 (Logan) that all this went down. There are mutant kids at the school in 2023 (according to Logan, there are no mutant child born after 2004), and where Xavier ends up with Logan makes no sense. In order for that to happen: 1) Beast would have to already be dead, because there's a serum that could have prevented Xavier from using his telepathy that Beast created in the 70s. 2) Jean would have to already be dead. There's no way she wouldn't see that Xavier had dementia. That's not even including any other telepathic mutants. 3) Biggest of all...um--Xavier has bank. Why on EARTH would Logan need to keep him in a bunker and pull odd jobs to save up little money for meds and a boat??? Xavier is a billionaire. As a stand-alone, Logan is good---I LOVE Laura. As part of the franchise...it's awful and doesn't fit in anywhere.
#1 & #2: Both are almost certainly dead, since otherwise Logan (the movie) wouldn't be nearly as dark and bleak in its outset. As for noticing Charles having dementia and giving him medicine, the only thing that was said was that Charles had a seizure, lost control of his powers which are fearsome indeed, and killed most if not all of the X-Men and the mutant students. I'd wager that he no doubt killed the pair of them in his first seizure. Beast dying wouldn't be that unsurprising, since Hank is getting on in years and honestly despite the idea that he might have healing powers I doubt that they are nearly as powerful as Logan's. As for Jean, this is non-Phoenix Jean, since it's meant to be the OG timeline version, where Jean's powers are restrained by Charles' psychic barriers. She's therefore weaker than Charles, and so an out-of-control Charles would wipe her out. #3: To be fair, Charles is also responsible for any multitude of deaths - I doubt using his bank details would work in this grim future without the two of them being taken out. I know that Logan is planning to kill himself in order to defeat his healing factor, as it's failing, but not fast enough for someone who has been alive and kicking for nigh on 200 years and has been dealing with a somewhat mentally deficient Charles, his only link to life that he has left. Thing is, he wants to give Charles peace - something that wouldn't be the case if they were to get captured or killed over something like money.
12 year old me was not good at picking usernames I completely agree with you. While I loved Logan, they absolutely butchered the character of Charles..he was/is one of my favourite X-Men. The way they made him go out completely broke my heart
In short story this is what Old Charles was saying to young charles "Good, let hate flow through you, and you will be stronger than any jed . . . any mutant there ever will be"
I'm sure you mean this in jest but I'll just say it anyway: Pain isn't just limited to hatred, it's also sorrow, fear and anger and as frightening as these emotions are theyre the ones that make us stronger, not because we let ourselves get controlled by them but when learn from them. By learning what it's like to feel fear and sorrow, we develop a desire to help others when they are also suffering in this way. That's what it means to hope, the desire to not protect others from pain but to pick them up when they fall to it. As Charles said, 'we need you to hope again'.
Whos here after Charles told Mordo "Just because someone stumbles, loses their way, it doesn't mean they're lost forever." in Multiverse of Madness. I teared up 🥲
The line was great but they used it wrong. Charles, of all people, would absolutely understand the pain Wanda was going through and this iconic line SHOULD have been regarding her, not Strange. Her entire character arc throughout the film was taking things too far for the sake of being with her children again. What she wanted wasn’t wrong but it’s how she planned to have it that made her an enemy. I truly believe that had there been a more competent writer in the room, Charles and Wanda would have had an amazing verbal and telekinetic confrontation, maybe even with Strange involved.
Bare the pain of your loved ones without breaking, it's the greatest gift you can give them. Learn to hope again and don't be afraid because we all need a little help every now and then. Be that unbreakable hope for someone you love.
The amazing part about Xavier is he shares that same love with those who hate him and his students but doesn't retaliate as shown he could in Apocalyapse
Man if I was James McAvoy in this scene and Patrick Stewart was saying this to me tears would be streaming down my face. What an inspiring scene. Side note: I love that Charles envisions the children that he teaches as hope for the future. To me that makes this scene the ultimate life speech.
Be equally if not more grateful to Jack Kirby who co-created the characters. And also, thank Chris Claremont for taking X-men to their great potential.
They literally brought back Patrick Stewart as Xavier just to kill him off again and also used Evan Peters quicksilver as a dick joke. Yeah, that’s great homage alright lol. Meanwhile all the Spider-Man multiverse characters get good treatment, Fox’s X Men hasn’t.
@@thedeutschman9905 that line explains how palpatine came back, xavier in mom is just wasted. i wish he got to talk to wanda like he does with himself in this scene even if it ends in failure but there's nothing. the line barely even applies to strange anyway, other stranges lost their way, the whole point is that not all of them are bad, not that our strange has lost his way and needs to hope again
Awesome! Being in recovery is hard as hell, so just remember that no matter whether it's going great or poorly, you can always take someone's hand and get back up again, or offer yours to someone else to help them do the same. Good luck!
There's something about Patrick Stewart's voice that is so empowering. I cannot imagine a world without him or someone with his charisma existing on this earthly plane. The same can be said for James McAvoy too.
+Venegal well the moment wolverine was sent back new timeline had already started with the continuity being re written in both past and future from that point....in xmen first class many things are not as same as what charles told to logan in X men 1 which means first class was actually set in the new continuity ...the older charles here was the only one from the original timeline which gets erased the moment the new timeline gets in full effect...as this younger charles never got the opportunity to become old and then meet his younger self physic-ly...as that timeline didn't exist the younger charles was the only one to know that some day he would send logan from future but that future never came in his timeline...so when logan wakes up and comes back to meet him at the end he says oh welcome back knowing that the timeline has been rebooted and gets to know all of logan memories from the original timeline
God, I fucking love Xavier. And when you read the comics, and you realize Xavier dies, Wolverine dies, and all the mutants of the world are scattered. It's so fucking depressing. To me, Xavier is one of most important character's in the Marvel universe. I love Wolverine, but what makes him great, is because of Xavier. He showed him a better path, for he inspires hope. I mean yeah be a cynic all you want, the whole old and wise character is a cliche in of itself. But, what makes him so great, in the films in particular, is both Stewart's and Mcavoy's performance. Especially Mcavoy because he plays a younger Xavier who has an amazing arc. And back on the whole depressing thing, the fucking Logan trailer, oh my god. Seeing Logan and Xavier in they're twilight years, really hits me hard.
professor x is so much better in movies , his complete arc is is from young idealist to middled aged angry hopless junkie to old hopeful wiseman, everybody hates x men jus cuz ppl wear civilian clothes in them but they forget they made professor x better in movies than comics , the key relationships he has with magneto and wolverine throughout the series are so well done , but people keep whinning about give rogue gambit cyclops more screen time
AKA man. read a comic where the xmen have to fight the mutation of the danger room (pretty much a robot that knows all the xmen weaknesses from fighting rhem so much) . it made prof x my fav xmen of all time.

Something about this scene i just fine inspiring whenever I'm at a low point in my life. I guess its just the idea of being at the lowest point in your life and getting to talk to your future self who turns out to be everything you ever wanted to be
Been suffering from anxiety and depression but this scene helps me so much, gives me the push to keep going. I'm eternally grateful for this clip, never give up 🖤
This is the best scene of the movie to me. Young, broken Charles Xavier face-to-face with old, edges ground off hard lessons learned Charles Xavier, who is in a unique position to make a better world and a better life by giving himself back something his younger self thought long lost: hope. Also, two fine actors-you can see the pain in James McAvoy's face and eyes, hear it in his voice. Patrick Stewart brings a world-weary endurance and great wisdom, hard earned. Inspiring message, as well.
I love this scene so much. Mcavoy’s performance is spectacular and Sir Patrick delivering his lines in the silent yet powerful way that no one but him can manage... I have lost count of how many times I rewatched this scene lol
Many people say that action movies have only to give just a few hours of joy and they re minor to drama/social movies which can affect your emotions and feelings.. Watching this scene I totally find it a masterpiece.. The acting, the lines, the deeper emotions which can be seen in the eyes of these 2 marvelous actors made this movie one of the best I have ever seen in my life !
0:26 sometimes we need something like this, wake up from a nightmare, a bad day, loneliness, all the shit that make us stop of a good life. To know we can be stronger everyday, and all the possible ways, especially psychological. We need to wake up and realize ourselves we can be a better person. Every day is a gift.
For me this will always be my favorite Professor X scene. Throughout all the films Charles endless compassion for others is always on full display, this is where that compassion comes from.
This scene is super sad after watching Logan. They saved the world by creating a new timeline, but still bad things happenned. I think that´s how life is, you go from one problem to the next, but the good thing is that the world is not entirely lost by finding hope within ourselves.
This movie was amazing. Even without this scene this movie is incredible. But this scene, this scene really hit me hard in the Theater. I kept up with all the Wolverine movies, Comics, X-Men movies but that part where he says "You Poor Poor Man" That was what made me realize that Logan has been thru hell and back yet still came out an amazing Man. bitter towards the end but still made the right choice. INCREDIBLE movie!
AWESOME. I'm glad I'm not the only one. This movie is perfection for the CBM genre IMO. And that's why I think Apocalypse failed. It didn't live up to perfection, even though it is a perfectly good follow-up to First Class.
this Scene only Reminds me more why Charls is my Favorite x-men a man that still Keeps hoping when All seems lost, it's... just... almost too much... what charls stansds for is always going to be what i look for in life and the message is so simple and powerful.
I hope that you are well. Hope that you're overcoming all the challenges that life brings you. You are stronger than you could ever know. Believe that, and believe in yourself. You've got this!
Here because Charles used the same line in the new dr. strange movie. I hope that if Stewart plays Charles again in any upcoming mcu. They better do him justice
@@texascard I'm saying his portrayal is good as usual, but the way they send him off was come on man. I won't say anything else if you haven't watch it.
Imagine seeing your future self. Seeing your failures of 10 years be corrected. Watching as you build your dream into reality. Seeing an old wise man embodying what you become. RealiIng you have a second chance to make things right. I can't imagine the feeling it would bring.
This scene might have actually stopped me from suicide. A few times. But it never fails to show me that I as well as the world around me NEEDS me to hope again. We can always show them a better path. Sometimes we all need a little help.
I remember first hearing that X-Men prequels were in the works with Xavier and Magneto as major characters and wondering how anyone was possibly going to fill the shoes of Stewart and McKellen. It’s certainly not a position I’d want to be in as an actor. But McAvoy and Fassbender are consistently the best parts of the prequel films, even at times when the overall quality isn’t great they give everything they have to those roles. DoFP is probably where the series peaks for me personally (the main series at least, Logan is wonderful but feels very separated) and I love that the plot provided an excuse to see McAvoy and Stewart act opposite each other especially in such an emotionally heavy scene where they both get to really show off their talent and help fuel each other’s performance.
One of the most gorgeous scenes in any comic book movie. The notion of someone ready to give up seeing how great they become in the future giving them the hope to go on.

X-Men Days of Future Past is a cinematic masterpiece and honestly one of the best comic book films of all time. One of the reasons why this movie is so powerful is because of Charles Xavier.

This scene is obviously one of my favorite scene in the movie where his future self has to give him a pep talk. I honestly wish something like that would happen to me. I would argue that DOFP was MacAvoy’s strongest performance in the X-Men films. I wish I could experience this film again for the first time.
Probably the best comic book movie since Spider-Man 2 and Batman Begins. Too bad Fox kicked Bryan Singer out and Disney bought Fox as well.
Definitely one of the best comic book movies till now..Completely agree man
It's not even one of the best. Not close.
Yes! One of my favourite if not my favourite comic film ever. This feels like a real X-Man film not just a Wolverine film. Great adaptation of the comic love the comics.
Probably the best moment in whole entire X-MEN franchise
I'm a huge fan of Mystique telling Nightcrawler "because we shouldn't have to" [hide being a mutant] in X2, but this one's right up there! And admittedly has a bit more backstory behind it.
Such a human scene.
Don't know you but hope everything works out well for your family.
Thank you for sharing.
Be strong. ♥️♥️
That's a great connection to make with the scene. But as he says, there is hope. You may yet get a chance to tell your sister those things.

Ride The Lightning wake up and see Deadpool and come back when you get the Joke
Yeah, hehehehehe. A Deadpool joke at those who do not get the timelines. The film this scene comes from explains it. Logan is canon to before DOFP happens, thanks to Wolverine 2. Not after it, since Logan's plot included food and water additives as a Government second go at Last Stand's cure plot.

I love this scene because lets face it, sometimes only you can get through to you.
Past Professor X: I never thought that I......Actually "We" could say something so touching
Future Professor X: 😊
I was studying for university entrance exam when this movie came out. I was feeling absolutely hopeless and desperate as I had already failed couple of times before. One day I imagined my older self, few years from the future who had passed the entrance already, appearing in front of me like this scene and telling me to hope again. Now in a couple of months I'm graduating with master's degree and I imagined the scene again in my head, but this time I was the one telling my younger self to keep the hope up. I just had some of the best years of my life.
Amazing
In order for that to happen:
1) Beast would have to already be dead, because there's a serum that could have prevented Xavier from using his telepathy that Beast created in the 70s.
@@immortalfrieza did the witers of that movie ask Patrick Stewart if he wanted to retire the character before they killed him off?
In short story this is what Old Charles was saying to young charles
"Good, let hate flow through you, and you will be stronger than any jed . . . any mutant there ever will be"
PrussianZwei "goood goooood Charles I can feel you're anger"
Heyyyy...
This scenario should have been used in the last jedi between Luke and Obi-Wan's force ghost instead of the scene with Yoda
I think you will find the sentinels... Fully operational
Imagine having the power to feel the pain of every person alive. I love the way McAvoy delivers the line "So... much... pain."
Whos here after Charles told Mordo "Just because someone stumbles, loses their way, it doesn't mean they're lost forever."
in Multiverse of Madness. I teared up 🥲
yep same. I'm hoping if Stewart plays Charles again in any upcoming mcu. They better do him justice
That movie was atrocious, them adding this line was just disrespectful.
@@mateom1691 And maybe Wanda’s character wouldn’t have been ruined
@@Demaad To this day I still cannot understand why they went and just ruined her...
Well said, this is a great scene, very inspiring.
Man if I was James McAvoy in this scene and Patrick Stewart was saying this to me tears would be streaming down my face. What an inspiring scene. Side note: I love that Charles envisions the children that he teaches as hope for the future. To me that makes this scene the ultimate life speech.

It's not a great homage. They disrespected this movie hard. F Disney
@@birons3708 Thank you. Someone finally understands! Fox X Men has been disrespected twice now with both WandaVision and Multiverse Of Madness.

There's something about Patrick Stewart's voice that is so empowering. I cannot imagine a world without him or someone with his charisma existing on this earthly plane. The same can be said for James McAvoy too.

Jeffrey Albuna astonishing xmen and I think it's called dangerous.

“We will see what kind of Doctor Strange you are”

So it seems I'm not the only one who noticed. That line was perfect for the moment
McAvoy is a brilliant actor,, since the first time I saw him in Last King Of Scotland I saw the genus in him,,, BRAVO 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
