I am sooo shook by this, totally didn't expect hahaha. Thank you Susan and the MM team for sharing my thoughts! I appreciate all your effort and the group we have to share our experiences :)) I am totally buying this Missha sunscreen now! It's very moisturizing so when using that, I just skip moisturizer and go straight to SPF - not sure if it's the best but works for me! Still think the Klairs is so so similar though 😂
@Kailani BTS i hope it turns out good for you. I don't mean to be negative, but it has a heavy percentage of alcohol and fragrance. My small tip for wearing sunscreens that have a moisturiser-like texture is that, unless you have dry skin, just put on LESS moisturiser (and/or skip some other steps like serum or emulsion). If you have oily skin or live in a humid/warm environment, you could potentially skip moisturiser altogether and just use sunscreen as daytime moisturiser.
JLhannah24 exactly. My skin is combo with a VERY oily forehead and drier cheeks, and I use Purito as a moisturiser. Sometimes on it’s owns, other times I layer it on top of a hydrating essence, but unless you have very dry skin, you shouldn’t really need a moisturiser underneath.

Those four ingredients have the most studies showing that they’re harmful, even in low amounts. Other chemical filters like octocrylene, octisalate, avobenzone, octyl triazone (Uvinul T), ecamsule (Mexoryl SX, drometrizole trisiloxane (Mexoryl XL), titanium dioxide have been shown to have little or no effect on coral reefs, and some ingredients like bemotrizinol (Tinosorb S), bisoctrizole (Tinosorb M), diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate (Uvinul A Plus), ensulizole, homosalate just haven’t been studied enough to know if they’re harmful or not. And keep in mind that while the four ingredients we know are harmful like oxybenzone or zinc oxide, all of these ingredients can be harmful to reefs in large amounts, and considering hundreds of thousands people visit the beach every day and millions of tons of sunscreen wash into the ocean every year, all of these ingredients are probably harming the reefs. @IceTeapêcheIntense Yup. I'd definitely recommend it for you. It's light enough that you can use a moisturiser under it too. I find the Purito one can make things a bit heavy since I like using a heavy moisturiser and sometimes I end up looking too greasy. Also, the Klairs is 80 ml as opposed to the Purito one which is 60 ml I believe. Klairs has ABSOLUTELY ZERO WHITE CAST. It's a god send.
Susan, if you have chance, try some more Japanese sun screen, from drug store ones, to high end ones, you will love it!!!!! have to try those few if you can ! Ampleur luxury white W protect UV+ SPF50+ PA++++,(THE BEST SUN SCREEN I ever tried!!! ) Decorte (by Kose )sun shelter(more hydrating but not oily, u can use right after serum), ANNESA (By Shiseido, it has so many different ones, from milk to gel) mainly SP50+ PA++++, I prefer the gel waterproof ones. the rest are drugstore brands, ALLIE(by Kanebo) Skin Aqua by Rohto (the entire lines), especially the skin aqua tone up uv essence, its like colour correction and sun screen and primer 3 in 1! and SUNPLAY by Rohto, they have the entire lines, even have babe and children sun screen.
I just LOVE the Missha one. It’s the best I’ve ever tried. It feels so light in the skin, completely different from what we usually find in North America
I’ve been using the Biore sunscreen for years and absolutely love it. I have combo skin but more on the oily side. I do get somewhat oily with this but I just use a translucent powder and that helps. Definitely want to try the misha one!
I have used essence sun milk after rave reviews on this channel that's it's good for sensitive skin. The product has been very bad for my skin causing rashes and burning. This isnt the first product recommended from this channel that has been claimed to be suitable for sensitive skin and has caused extreme discomfort and burning. As a consumer I was initially very excited that this channel could provide expert knowledge for general public but have been disappointed that several products recommended for sensitive skin have caused bad reaction on my skin. I'm sharing this so there is balanced review of this channel with good and bad reviews. Thanks.
No matter how similar your skin type might seem to be to another person's, it doesn't mean your skin will react the same to an ingredient/product. That's no fault of someone who recommended the product. It worked for their skin and they think it might work for another's but the one who's looking into buying it has to go do more research on how others reacted to it, and even then you'll see great reviews and negative reviews, so you won't know for sure till you patch test it yourself. Whether a product will work or not is a 50/50 chance
I don't know why but the Biore Watery Gel was a disastee for my skin. My skin got heated whenener I applied it and got a massive whitecast. Thankfully my brother doesn't have any complaints about it and I just give it to him!
Yes give the purito comfy water sunblock a try! I have it and it's very lightweight and moisturizing on my combo skin, it doesn't pill and doesn't leave a white cast😍
I personally love Purito Unscented sunscreen and now they have one for oily skin. Love it! I also use their skin products and my face has gotten a lot better. The thing that I really like is their sunscreen does not leave a white cast.
I was watching your other videos and thought, “it’s be nice if she does Korean sunscreens,” (because I really love Korean skincare products) and boom! There it is.
interesting vid :) My favorite Asian sunscreen is definitely the Shiseido Senka UV Essence, I find the Purito mineral one very slightly drying to my tretinoin induced dry skin but when I combine it with the Shiseido problem solved.
I have the shiseido senka but the problem is it’s not mattifying for my oily skin and I want something mattifying i realize physical sunscreen does a great job minimizing the oilness. The only problem is the white cast since I have dark skin tone. I’m not sure it would go with my skin tone since being a physical sunscreen. Is the purito mineral is friendly for dark skin tones?
For anyone trying to decide between Purito and Missha's Essence: I've tried both and Purito is much better for contact lens wearers. I noticed that when I put Misha's sunscreen around my eyes I experienced some stinging and burning.
So agree with you on the Missha! Total game changer. And I have to agree with the comparison to Purito! Susan, your review was like taking the words out of my mouth!
The Missah sunscreen does have a white cast. My sister is dark skinned and she regularly uses this and it makes her look like barney because its almost purple. Its horrible on dark skin. I have tried it and got the same results Edit. She uses it under makeup
are you positive it is the essence one? Because Missha does have other sunscreen formulas that do leave a white cast but this one mentioned I've never seen anyone I know that has had an issue with white cast.
I used missha spf milk the pink one with a matte finish even though it says matte but it didn't dry out my skin it's perfect for oily skin even the sensitive type it's so gentle I was blown out by it, when you go korean sunscreen you never go back I promise.
I have oily skin and I love the Purito Centella sunscreen! I wear it without moisturiser, however, as it is already moisturising enough. It's great for the days after I have used my retinoid to help combat any irritation or dryness. As it is getting warmer, it may be too heavy though and I have started using the Klairs one more!
The Missha sunscreen has been my fav for years now, it feels exactly as the name suggests "essence". Absorbs instantly, no white cast, and does not leave skin feeling tacky or as if you have layered something on. I was about to order the Purito one because so many people like it so I thought it would be better. But I just reordered my usual Missha because of this video's explanation, thank you for saving me money. (Not saying it isn't a good sunscreen but I'm already used to the light texture of the Missha one so I don't think I'd be able to do anything noticeably heavier.) Plus I like the fragrance lol
The missha one is amazing in texture I agree! But beware if you have contacts or sensitive eyes, which I do so i have started using it on my neck and chest and it’s amazing for that!
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I was waiting for this video, who else is learning a lot in this lockdown???? And whit this video I’m ready for summer, when all this quarantine ends!!!!!! Xoxoxox
Glad to see Klairs on your list. I have sensitive, oily, acne prone skin. I hesitated using sunscreen for a long time including the Missha because it has irritated my skin until I found Klairs Sunscreen. I've been using it for >year now and it has not given me any reaction. Finally found the one. Thanks for your hard work.
Biore UV aqua rich watery essence 50+ Pa ++++ suncream - my favourite texture and incredible under make up and for people like me with hormonal acne & sensitive skin.
I've tried both Purito's Comfy water sunblock and unscented sun. I love the comfy one and it suited me perfectly! The only thing that kept me from repurchasing it was that this sunblock pills. I have very oily skin. Water and oil don't mix. 😂 I'm interested in trying Krave but the currency rate in my country makes me hesitant to buy this since is expensive. I'm definitely going for the Missha as an alternative.
I have dry skin and I really like the Purito Centella Unscented. It pretty much dries down to a natural finish and doesn't make my skin feel dry. However, if you have dry skin and really love a dewy glow, the Missha Flash Up is absolutely stunning! It gives you that glass skin look on it's own, school it makes an amazing base to glowy makeup. It does have a fragrance though. That's the only thing I would change about it.
Damn I needed Susan and Fernando a few weeks ago when I bought the purito. My face looks SHINY by the end of the day. I happened to order the Biore one yesterday so I can’t wait to give that a try.
Been using the Bioré UV Watery Gel forever. So releaved you approved this one. Although the Watery Essence variant is much more popular, I like the Watery Gel better because I have oily combo skin.
Love the Biore Watery Essence. It's affordable, no white cast on my mixed race skin, but had to wait a month for delivery as I live in UK. Worth the wait, though. Stay safe everyone x
I have oily skin and use the purito sunscreen without any issues. I treat my sunscreen as a moisturizer in the morning since I tend to get super greasy if I apply moisturizer underneath any sunscreen. It has become my favorite spf so def still try it out if you’re oily! Another tip is to pat it on your face in light layers. I’ve never felt super greasy with it except for the time I squeezed out way too much lol 😅
Soo Boo Ji Sun Cotton SPF 50+ PA++++ from A'Pieu is by far my favorite. Semi-matte, super transparent, dries down in 40 seconds with zero shine. I reapply during work and It takes 1 minute inside the bathroom to do só and no one knows. It has a slight fragrance. I know. Highly recommend.
I love Krave products. I’ve been using them for years now I think and just reordered one or two of almost everything (haven’t needed to try their moisturizer yet)
I wish susan could have also mentioned if they're physical, chemical or mineral sunscreen while doing this review. I am glad she shared her favorites and why tho
My favorite Korean sunscreen in no particular order : Dear Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence, Innisfree Ato Soothing Sun Stick, Soo Beaute Aloe Vera Sun stick, Cosrx Aloe Sunscreen, Dr Jart+ Cicapair Calming Sunscreen and Ildong probiotic sunscreen.
For people with sensitive skin, do note that Missha sunscreens contain ethanol and fragrance. Otherwise, they really do work beautifully under makeup, and long-wearing in humid climates. Most of the popular Japanese sunscreens also contain alcohol.
I think I’m a female Fernando! I’m an oily skin gal with a collection of sunscreens as I’ve been trying to find the best ones that work with my skin! Purito is too much for my oily skin! Although I do have a great skin care routine and my oils are pretty much under control, a sunscreen can throw off my skin balance and make me an oily mess. I use my Purito on days I don’t wear makeup and lounge around the house (which is daily now). Another thing with Purito that may deter me from purchasing again was the only website I could find Purito products in stock took almost 2 months to get. I really enjoyed KraveBeauty Beet Sheild (I live in Nevada so it was on my front door within 4 days of ordering as it is shipped from California). I also enjoy dermalogica dynamic Skin recovery which is a bit pricey. I love Korean skincare so I’m excited to try the Missha as it looks like a nice lightweight product for my skin type :)
Please do a video on “medical grade” skin care! I am an aesthetician and would love to hear your opinions on brands like ZO Skin Health, Obaji, Alastin, Skin Medica, Skin Ceuticals, etc. Particularly id love for you to test out ZO products and see what you think about them!
I live in a tropical country, it's sunny and humid. I tried the Purito Sunscreen I didn't really love it but it's alright, because it felt heavy and moisturising on my skin(combination skin) when I'm not in the air conditioned room. If I'm in an air conditioned room my skin feels alright, it stays moisturise but at the end of the day my face does get a bit greasy. Also, I tried using it just by itself without any moisturiser, it was good by itself.
You’re awesome Susan! Any way you could share some waterproof sunblock for the summer months? I absolutely love the purito, but tend to swim more during the hotter months and am looking for protection during my swims. Thoughts?
I've been thinking about that too. Purito is good for daily use, but not for exercising or for the pool. The only sunscreen I've found with the right ingredients is the badger clear zinc sport sunscreen. That, unfortunately, does leave a white cast though.
Psyched for this video!! I have recently jumped on the Korean skincare bandwagon and loving everything so far!! I do want to try others, so it is nice you uploaded this because I can expect your honest opinion and what ingredients are in them 😃
Asian sunscreens are so much better than any in the US thanks to the newer filters; pretty much no issues with breakouts either. I need to try the Biore; I know that one is a cult favorite. My holy grail is the Skin Aqua Sarafit SPF 50+ PA++++ - it’s so light and hydrating, no cast, no greasiness, no pilling, no scent, amazing over other skincare and under makeup. That one hasn’t been beat for me-I like it way better than the popular Purito/Klairs/Krave.
Love this video! As someone living in Spain, I tried looking for Krave Beet the Sun in the UK (sold out everywhere) and South Korea (pricey shipping). I eventually found a Korean supplier on eBay that wasn't charging $30+ for shipping...only to be told that they weren't shipping to Spain because of the coronavirus. Off to Amazon to look for these sunscreens!
One of my biggest regrets is using tanning beds in my 20s. I look like I have freckles but none of those spots were there before I started tanning. I'm in my early 30s so now I'm trying to keep it from getting worse.
I love the Klairs one! I have very sensitive skin but I don’t notice any fragrance in mine, and it’s the only sunscreen I’ve tried that re-applies well and works so well under makeup!
Hi Susan! I was very interested in the "Missha Essence Sun Milk", but it contains octorylene in the ingredient list, and I remember you listed this ingredient as one to avoid for environmental reasons if I remember correctly. I found the Purito Comfy Water Sunblock to be the best choice for me personally, as it doesn't contain any of the sunscreen ingredients you suggested to avoid. It also contains Niacinamide up in its list, which is always an added bonus for me personally! Anyway thank you for this video, I was waiting for this for so long!
I love the Biore sunscreen. I have been using it for about a year and it wears really well. I had never used sunscreen before almost at all. I started focusing more on skin care and realized I really had messed up my skin by not using sunscreen. I am almost 40 and large areas of my skin shows my age way too much.

Also, the Klairs is 80 ml as opposed to the Purito one which is 60 ml I believe. Klairs has ABSOLUTELY ZERO WHITE CAST. It's a god send.
I really like the COSRX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream. I am sensitive and dry.
You should try the Skin & Lab Vit C SPF50 PA+++ sunscreen, no white cast, extremely light weight and gives a beautiful glow
Susan, if you have chance, try some more Japanese sun screen, from drug store ones, to high end ones, you will love it!!!!!
have to try those few if you can !
Ampleur luxury white W protect UV+ SPF50+ PA++++,(THE BEST SUN SCREEN I ever tried!!! )
Decorte (by Kose )sun shelter(more hydrating but not oily, u can use right after serum),
ANNESA (By Shiseido, it has so many different ones, from milk to gel) mainly SP50+ PA++++, I prefer the gel waterproof ones.
the rest are drugstore brands, ALLIE(by Kanebo) Skin Aqua by Rohto (the entire lines), especially the skin aqua tone up uv essence, its like colour correction and sun screen and primer 3 in 1! and SUNPLAY by Rohto, they have the entire lines, even have babe and children sun screen.
I’m definitely going to try the first one (the Missha one) - that one sounds perfect!
have u tried it 😦
Skin Aqua UV Moisture Milk - Japanese
I just LOVE the Missha one. It’s the best I’ve ever tried. It feels so light in the skin, completely different from what we usually find in North America
Does it cause breakouts?
For me the Klairs sunscreen is the best. I like the Purito Unscented Green Level and I find the Comfy Water too dry, even for my oily skin!
Yes give the purito comfy water sunblock a try! I have it and it's very lightweight and moisturizing on my combo skin, it doesn't pill and doesn't leave a white cast😍
Very imformative, clear cut, straight to the point, comprehensive feedback in brief form and clear explanation. Always enjoy your videos!!
I personally love Purito Unscented sunscreen and now they have one for oily skin. Love it! I also use their skin products and my face has gotten a lot better. The thing that I really like is their sunscreen does not leave a white cast.
Good lord! That dress on you is DIVINE and your makeup is so lovely, Susan!!
Love the Krave sunscreen and the Purito Comfy Water is a new one for me. I like it so far.
Definitely the Biore Wattery Essence is better than the gel. It’s much lighter and has the lightest feel of all the sunscreens I’ve ever tried.
I have tried it and got the same results
Edit. She uses it under makeup
are you positive it is the essence one? Because Missha does have other sunscreen formulas that do leave a white cast but this one mentioned I've never seen anyone I know that has had an issue with white cast.
Adafih Jacobs thanks for saving me 44 dollars lol was about to buy 2
does she use the waterproof one? because that one has a white cast
I'm in Korea I have dark skin too and I couldn't find good cream yet for me 😭
@@daniellalove143 I think it is the waterproof one
I used missha spf milk the pink one with a matte finish even though it says matte but it didn't dry out my skin it's perfect for oily skin even the sensitive type it's so gentle I was blown out by it, when you go korean sunscreen you never go back I promise.
Hey I've got really oily skin will this work on oily skin?
I have oily skin and I love the Purito Centella sunscreen! I wear it without moisturiser, however, as it is already moisturising enough. It's great for the days after I have used my retinoid to help combat any irritation or dryness. As it is getting warmer, it may be too heavy though and I have started using the Klairs one more!
You should try the Nivea watery gel "Japanese" it will be on top of this list
The Missha sunscreen has been my fav for years now, it feels exactly as the name suggests "essence". Absorbs instantly, no white cast, and does not leave skin feeling tacky or as if you have layered something on. I was about to order the Purito one because so many people like it so I thought it would be better. But I just reordered my usual Missha because of this video's explanation, thank you for saving me money. (Not saying it isn't a good sunscreen but I'm already used to the light texture of the Missha one so I don't think I'd be able to do anything noticeably heavier.) Plus I like the fragrance lol
Would you recommend this sunscreen for oily, acne prone skin?
is missha one for acne prone and oily skin?
I love suntiques I’m safe sunscreen. It’s very moisturizing and doesn’t leave a white cast but is also a physical sunscreen
The missha one is amazing in texture I agree! But beware if you have contacts or sensitive eyes, which I do so i have started using it on my neck and chest and it’s amazing for that!
Have you tried the Innisfree one? I’m using it now and it’s quite nice!
Derek Carboni me too!! It has some fragrance but it’s very nice and gives a great glow!
Kylie J I love how it doesn’t make me oily! I’m like a super combo but I’ve balanced my skin out! So it’s great!
I love the Purito sunscreen. Mine is almost finished and I’ll be trying the Klair’s sunscreen next
I just got the missha spf50 sun gel and I'm so excited to try it out!
Is it worth it like how is it
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I was waiting for this video, who else is learning a lot in this lockdown???? And whit this video I’m ready for summer, when all this quarantine ends!!!!!! Xoxoxox
Thanks Susan, I read Fernando’s reviews on sunscreens for oily skin. Buying at least 3 of his recommendation 👍
Thank you for recommending Missha! I am hooked on Korean sunscreens now.
My favorite is Labno mineral sunscreens! The ingredients are safe, and their foundation cushions are even peg free!
I absolutely love one by Missha & klairs
I've tried both Purito's Comfy water sunblock and unscented sun. I love the comfy one and it suited me perfectly! The only thing that kept me from repurchasing it was that this sunblock pills. I have very oily skin. Water and oil don't mix. 😂
I'm interested in trying Krave but the currency rate in my country makes me hesitant to buy this since is expensive. I'm definitely going for the Missha as an alternative.
it’s a physical sunscreen does it have white cast?
@@d.revilbrook981 No white cast at all!
I love Cosrx sunscreen
Ayu Mashruddin which one?
Shadow Hedge The Aloe sunscreen by cosrx
The cosrx aloe sunscreen is my personal favorite. It feels so good on my skin. I'm just sorry that it's so hard to find where I live U.U
How do we protect ourselves from blue light? Also do the skin care ingredients in sunscreen decreases the effectiveness?
I have dry skin and I really like the Purito Centella Unscented. It pretty much dries down to a natural finish and doesn't make my skin feel dry. However, if you have dry skin and really love a dewy glow, the Missha Flash Up is absolutely stunning! It gives you that glass skin look on it's own, school it makes an amazing base to glowy makeup. It does have a fragrance though. That's the only thing I would change about it.
Love Love the comfy water sunblock. I am however, white as white can be. It is very lightweight and dries down so that I can't see it at all.
Can you please make a video on blackheads-what products you can recommend a cleanser for this? I'm so overwhelmed- so much information.
Damn I needed Susan and Fernando a few weeks ago when I bought the purito. My face looks SHINY by the end of the day.
I happened to order the Biore one yesterday so I can’t wait to give that a try.
I love the Bioré alot! It's so silky!
You influenced me into Krave beauty when I first started watching your videos. Can’t wait to try all of these other brands ! Love korean sunscreen
Missha is my favourite sunscreen. It's incredible for this price
I HATE fragrance in my skincare... but I’ll still watch your videos. Notifications always on. 🖤
Nia Raz The Purito sunscreen in this video doesn’t have fragrance. 👍
Both me and my bf put on Biore in Dominica and both of us got sun burn!!! Don’t use it under extreme sun exposure. Daily use is ok
Krave is my favorite.
I wish susan could have also mentioned if they're physical, chemical or mineral sunscreen while doing this review. I am glad she shared her favorites and why tho
I'm in love with Missha's sunscreen. I'm currently using Men's Cure Sun Essence.
My favorite Korean sunscreen in no particular order :
Dear Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence, Innisfree Ato Soothing Sun Stick, Soo Beaute Aloe Vera Sun stick, Cosrx Aloe Sunscreen, Dr Jart+ Cicapair Calming Sunscreen and Ildong probiotic sunscreen.
For people with sensitive skin, do note that Missha sunscreens contain ethanol and fragrance. Otherwise, they really do work beautifully under makeup, and long-wearing in humid climates. Most of the popular Japanese sunscreens also contain alcohol.
Hi Sunsan! Can u do a video of your opinion regarding the purito sunscreens scandal that is happening currently.
I also got too shiny with the Purito too.
I have the Missha one! I'm obsessed! Somehow that was the first face sunscreen I bought and so my standards were so high afterwards...lol
LavishBecky do you think it would be good for oily skin ? And does it leave a white cast
Thank you for this sunscreen review. I have been looking for a good sunscreen for months.
Do you have recommendations for a matte sunscreen for acne prone skin!❤
The Purito Comfy Water is pretty matte and is fragrance free. I'm pretty acne prone, and I haven't had any breakouts.
@@elizabethjoslin156 I've heard it pills alot on the skin, have you experienced this?
@@Kirby_Pinku I have never had it pill on my skin. I'm not sure how this would even happen; it has the texture of lotion.
I do want to try others, so it is nice you uploaded this because I can expect your honest opinion and what ingredients are in them 😃
Are we able to mix these sunscreen with a vitamin c serum?
I love Klairs. I use it year round and works really well. So glad I found it. The Missha is good for summer. Not heavy enough for winters in Colorado.
I love the purito, it's cruelty free and vegan too!
I love the Biore sunscreen. I have been using it for about a year and it wears really well. I had never used sunscreen before almost at all. I started focusing more on skin care and realized I really had messed up my skin by not using sunscreen. I am almost 40 and large areas of my skin shows my age way too much.
