If you wanna know more about DX, Wrestling Bios has a more in-depth video on their channel. Just a warning, though. It's 4½ hours long...so it might be better to put it on patreon😅
Shawn burying the hatchet with Bret Hart on tv is one of my favorite moments in the history of Monday night Raw. I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned in this video
Bunny, the name "DeGeneration X" was also a play on "Generation X", which was the target age group at the time. We were becoming young adults (the early ones closing in on 30 years old), and it really DID play on our "Anti-Authority/Anti-Hero" mentality. However, both Shawn and Hunter were late year Baby Boomers. 11:30 - That segment was never meant to be taken seriously, and at the time, it wasn't. Feel free to watch it, but first, watch a promo from the group being poked fun at, the Nation of Domination. DX were so over the top with their impressions, that the members of the Nation were back stage laughing about it. Of course, these days, the segment gets ripped to shreds... but remember, the guys being poked fun at KNEW about it, and could have disallowed it at the time. They thought it was funny, and that the audience would love it. We did. 12:50 - Yeah. It's sad, and I've had to do that on more occasions than I care to count. I've lost many friends to addiction. Hell, I lost my parents to addiction when I was a baby. I'm quite open about all that, and I feel I need to be in order to attempt to help someone going through that. Because I *DO* still try when I see someone struggling with it. I can say that I've helped a couple of friends get beyond it, but the numbers game has gone against me. Still, even ONE success story is worth the effort of trying a dozen times. I think that, as I get older, I realize more what tactics work, because I've tried a bunch that failed. I turn 57 next month, and I've got enough life lessons to cover almost everything. There's very little I haven't experienced.
HBK had a lot of power back then and could get away with a lot antics especially considering he was arguably the best worker in a pretty thin roster at the time so losing him to WCW(the rival company) would've hurt WWFs main event scene and star power he had the influence to change up already made plans that'll benefit him and his friends in the long run. Bulldog couldn't really do anything about it cause he didn't have the same pull HBK had
9:16 you are right, but at the same time Triple H was the sober one of the group, he didn't use drugs or drink to excess and was the designated driver too for the faction
Hey Bunny a bit more information for you. The name D-Generation X was possibly taken from an opinion column by Phil Mushnick which appeared in TV Guide, in which Mushnick lambasted wrestling's primarily Generation X fanbase as degenerates, dubbing them "Degeneration X." Phil Mushnick is a columnist for the New York Post and has a real hatred for wrestling and wrestling fans. He took many shots at wrestling and the WWE in his column over the years. There's a genuine real life personal hatred between Phil Mushnick and Vince McMahon and occasionally Vince would respond to Mushnick on WWE TV. Calling the group D-Generation X was a middle finger from WWE to Phil Mushnick.
@@CYB3R2K That's a possibility but you can't always trust WWE when it comes to telling the truth about their own history. They do have a tendency towards revisionism.
Bunny, Austin 3:16 was the promo that got Stone Cold over at King of the Ring. It's a take on John 3:16 as Jake The Snake Roberts had become clean and sober and found God. You have to watch it.
I enjoyed your reaction to this. The matches that I highly recommend you to react to are Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels from SummerSlam 2002, Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels from WrestleMania 25 & 26 and Triple H vs. Undertaker from Wrestlemania 27 & 28.
DX was the best. Shawn is the best and I’m so proud of how he fixed his life. Hunter is a great friend and basically runs WWE now. RIP Chyna u should watch Shawn’s story. No it was an actual very bad back injury. This video skips over things Shawn came back once or twice before they said he did to be Commish of Raw and he was still using. But yes when he came back at the point the video shows he’s clean. HBK/Hunter are like brothers in real life. I like the later DX-Shawn toned his side down to his new Christianity but it was still funny. Shawn/Taker/Hunter are standing together cause it was the end of an era. Those 3 have been there the longest and always loyal 2 Vince/WWE. Shawn now runs NXT Hunter is married 2 Steph and runs WWE and Taker is retired and spending time with his kids and doing a RUclips/podcast thing. All 3 are in the Hall Of Fame and close
Ah, DX.... yet another case of kayfabe and reality blurring together. Triple H went from being a pretend boss to a REAL boss in less than 20 years' time! Amazing how often life can imitate art.... BTW, how about looking into the Bullet Club next? They're essentially the 2010s equivalent of DX. They mainly operated from New Japan Pro Wrestling, but their influence can be felt all over the wrestling world to this day. Heck, AEW was even literally founded by a splinter group of BC! Should make for quite an interesting history lesson, I would say. 😉
Hi Bunny, you have become much better at understanding wrestling and immersing yourself in this world of sports entertainment, which is very cool and nice to watch, success to you and thanks for the reactions! You are very beautiful
Shawn Michaels was utterly toxic during Early DX; he once showed the Curtain Call live on tv then mocked Vince on Camera and HHH begged Vince to fire DX on the spot. HBK changed the finish after Bulldog was told he was winning for his dying sister. HBK went behind his back and convinced Vince to have him win the title. And what’s worse, right before HBK did that, he was sleeping with Sunny who was with another wrestler. Then Montreal Screwjob which Shawn was apart of and knew that was going to happen. Shawn was toxic but OH MY GOD was he entertaining.
and once again... you should watch "10 things wwe wants you to forget about Steve Austin" by whatculture.... it further goes with what you said sarcastically about vince being "such a great boss" he literally did cover up crimes, pay people to not talk about them, and fire the victims some times because they complained about what was done to them.
Chyna kinda went downhill after Triple H got hitched to Steph. She had a singles run that lasted a couple years before leaving the company and going into more…adult avenues while struggling with substance abuse.
Well, even on South Park they didnt do any blackface for over 15 years , so even they learned their lesson. 12:15 They climb the ladder so slowly because they have been beat up the entire match. Only logical, even in a real fight, that they cant climb any objects in a fast pace anymore.
7:04 That is not true. Michaels and Triple H did NOT collude with Vince about 'The Montreal Screwjob'. Bret refused to lose the title to Shawn on his last night because Shawn had refused to lose to Bret in the past. Vince on his own made the decision to screw Bret and despite not liking Bret, Shawn felt uncomfortable doing it. Shawn still did it because his boss convinced him it was the only way to protect the Championship (being that the last champion who 'defected' to WCW took their WWF title to WCW and threw it in the garbage on national television)
17:04 Well, it went on until a decade later. AJ Lee and Lita did that. AJ did it to CM Punk when she cheated on Punk with Dolph Ziggler and Lita did it to Matt Hardy when zhe cheated on Matt with Edge. AJ did come back to Punk and ended up marrying him. Punk got fired during their wedding, tho. Oh, Vince. You could've at least let Punk and AJ enjoy their marriage and honeymoon before firing them.
Your long reaction slots are probably taken up by Royal Rumble reactions right now but if there was ever a chance to sit down for a couple other longer videos in the future SuperEyepatchWolf's Unreality of Pro Wrestling will get you familiar with Roman Reigns, while Cultaholic has a video called Screwed that'll tell you anything there is to know about the Montreal Screwjob this video skipped over
9:45 a little fun fact about that. HBK was said to not do business and put Austin over. Undertaker got word of this, taped up his fists, and tracked down HBK. Taker than told him he will go out there and do his job and put on a good show and drop the title to Austin or else they will throw down right than and there. HBK obviously backed down. Undertaker is not one to cross.
The old raw episodes from the 90s you could just binge watch them one after another they were so good unlike now where you struggle to sit through 3 hours of a boring show with nothing interesting ever happening
@obi-wankenobi917 the current in ring work and talent is good. I have rewatched the old episodes and there was a lot of crap tha ee conveniently forget and only remember the good things leading us to be biased

DX was the best part of the Attitude Era, i never laughed so hard in my life while watching Wrestling.
4:58 yep, that probably how it went lmao, Shawn had Vince on his pocket 😅
"Hey yo bro, just so ya know, you're losing" actually is probably a legit 1997 Shawn Michaels quote 😂

Yeah, the whole Chyna thing was probably best left out of this video IMO. The whole thing is fairly dark, depressing, and deserving of it's own video.
