- On May 8, 1945, US President Harry S. Truman addressed the nation from the Oval Office to celebrate that, while the war in the Pacific was far from over, “the flags of freedom fly all over Europe.” May 8th is also Harry Truman's birthday.
Today we commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, or VE Day. While massive crowds will not gather to mark this milestone celebration, we hope you will listen and join us to salute all of those - everyone, man or woman - who continue to fight the disease and remember those, past and present, who have sacrificed for the causes of freedom in every land.
