@@wildstarfish3786 For it to be more than 10,000, the remaining moons would have to require at least 10,001 jumps between them, otherwise you could just finish every other moon and then get the jump moon. It's highly unlikely that the remaining 139 moons will require more than 70 jumps each.
I just found a way to get two more moons, 2 years after this video came out (new total is 743, look at the leaderboards in description): 1. Bowser Kingdom Timer Challenge 1: You can get the moon by positioning Cappy at one end of the arena and Mario at the Banner closest to the Parasols. By using 2 player mode you can actually groundound with Cappy at the edge of the Arena (about 4 times should do it) and maneuver him to the scarecrow. Meanwhile Mario Jumps to the second Parasol and from there you can get on the blocks and have enough time (in Assist Mode) to grab the moon. I think it is impossible to do alone (If you aren't Smallant1 and use your feet at the same time). So I had a friend helping me. 2. Timer Challenge Moon from Toadette: Like you see in the Video, he needs 1 more timer challenge to get the Toadette moon. Now that we got it, this moon is possible.
In the minimim capture run, the acorn is used to gain tons of height, doing TONS of jumps. The bowser timer is likely possible through that, even for a human. It just would require tons of endurance
For the infinite nut one, look at smallant1 and fearsome fire's minimum capture run, as they throw the nut in the water from where it spawns, and then respawns as a wet nut

Oorlaf he's the guy who invented the minimum jump run on Mario 64. In Mario 64 (a game without a bounce) in order to 100% it you only need 27 a presses (not jumps but a presses) all thanks to him. Also he's really good at glitches

What I did not expect was to hear one of the most inspiring and heartfelt comments about believing in yourself and not giving up. This has already been out for 5 months but I was rewatching it and thinking about a wrong warp into Metro Kingdom. A video by DGR he was able to wrong warp from Dark Side to Metro Kingdom. I am not sure if u leave while the festival is active and warp the festival will still be active, but if it is you might be able to climb the tower. Well unless u instantly die because of a death barrier, but who knows it might just be possible.
It remembers the festival- however, it spawns you at the odyssey despite the warp going onto new donk streets. I haven’t done extensive testing on this however.

Teclinsoro He's just trolling uninformed people. The game is beatable without using the left stick...by playing in first person mode. Impressively though, you can beat the Cloud Kingdom boss without the use of First-Person mode and using the left joystick.
I guess rolling is the only way to move in this case? Crouch -> Attack gives forward momentum without L-Stick. The R-Stick in first person would be used to adjust Mario's angle so the roll goes in the right direction. I can see how that would be doable.

Dontell Aniwone u need to jump for the glitch to work. He can't do tht, and in the pyramids cold state the dog is trapped inside crazy cap, and won't come out until it's warm
Why would you mention fearsomefire's run instead of timpani's? Timpani did it faster than fearsomefire, is arguably better at the game, and is less "controversial" in the SMO community.
There is no TAS for Odyssey. What good would a TAS even do? A TAS can't do anything magic. It can't get a moon that no one knows how to get. The only thing that a TAS could help with would be the nut jump for the Bowser Timer Challenge, but that's not even necessary since another method to get that moon was found. The only impossible moons now are 2D moons, the Festival plus everything locked behind it, and Jump, Jump, Jump. A TAS wouldn't make any of those any less impossible than they are now.

For the infinite night glitch moon, if you throw the nut into the water, you can wait for it to respawn be when it does it will still be wet. Then you don't have to do it as much. There are some people out there who would totally be able to do that
For that one Klepto moon in that sub area, you recover a wall jump after bouncing off lava if you bounce off Cappy. So maybe you could bring Cappy outside the Klepto trigger area, bounce over there, hit Cappy, then wall jump up

This ending was so inspiringly cheesy that, even if just for a few seconds, the best course of action for me was no longer making some lovely, crispy, delicious toast while having a calm, relaxing bath.
I have recently been working on a "minimum left-stick run" (which could also work as a Min. Left-JoyCon run, but the left-joystick aids in cap dives) and have actually made it to the beginning of the final story moon in Bowser's Kingdom with a whopping THREE left-stick inputs (those being one to scale the second wall in Top Hat Tower, and two to perform the Dino Skip in Cascade Kingdom). There were many points in this run that I felt were "impossible" (a strong example of this is the story moon in Luncheon Kingdom that involves breaking the cheese blocks to flip the switch) but as soon as I experimented with the game physics (captured enemies move a small amount backwards when they are uncaptured), I found that with hard work and dedication (after a long while of jumping, uncapturing, changing the first-person camera, and recapturing; I had made the Hammer Bro. to where it needed to be to destroy the blocks but as soon as I could capture it, it despawned) I could indeed get the moon. There are many moons that I attempted (and succeeded) even though they may seem impossible. A strong challenge that actually had me stuck thinking that it was indeed impossible was getting past the New Donk City Hall. In the city hall, you cannot enter First-Person mode, which usually bumps the difficulty of a challenge up by a large amount, and I had seen how this one building was able to make HelixSnake breakdown and make him stop playing Odyssey for a good while. At first sight, one would believe that the City Hall is "impossible" left-stickless, but I found that you can use the mini goombas and the fly bugs (whatever they're called) to change your direction. After over around 130 attempts, I finally got lucky at the end and was able to backflip my way, slowly but surely, towards the door. My progress has taught me that I can do a lot of things even when things seem impossible but I strongly agree with your ending statement. Though I have passed these many tough trials, there are still those three left-stick inputs in the tutorial worlds and possible necessary left-stick inputs in the two remaining more linear Kingdoms: Bowser's Kingdom and Moon Kingdom. Whatever it takes though, I am working very diligently on this and plan on finding new tricks to try and eliminate what I consider necessary inputs; mostly because I know I'm probably the only person in the world that has made or even attempted to make it this far. I highly recommend that anyone reading this that wants a good challenge should try this run or for an easier to understand run beat from Sand Kingdom to Ruined Kingdom without the left-stick. Those being the non-linear worlds and being confirmed to be possible without the left-stick, they should be an easier option for those who just want a clear challenge. I am currently trying to find tricks in order to utilize Min./No left-stick to its full potential. An example of this would be at the beginning where I thought that the only way to maintain forward momentum is by rolling down a hill but by now I can do consecutive triple jumps on flat land. I guess what I mean by all of this is that this challenge that one would assume is "impossible" has enlightened me in a sense.

It's 2 intended mechanics each working as intended individually, but when combined give an unintended result. Bouncing on a nut gives Mario height. Picking up a nut lets Mario throw it. Mario was never intended to be able to pick up and bounce on the same nut at the same time. In addition, I'm not sure Mario is supposed to be able to bounce on an object he's thrown because it should fly too far away.
yea it is look up pimanrules on youtube. he used some kind of code to control the joy con inputs and get a really high score on the volleyball challenge
I've TASed before, and I know the process. Believe me, that's not what piman did. He used a bot that read things what were happening in real time, and the bot would respond accordingly by pressing certain inputs. This is different from a TAS. In TASes, you go through the game frame by frame, inserting whatever button presses you need on said frames, then later going back and watching, and recording, it in real time. That being said, I enjoyed piman's video, and I hope he could help us with this, but just know it's not a "TAS" If you think I'm lying about having TASed before, I do have at least 1 TAS on my channel (Mario 64) with another one coming up soon, it's just not here yet because I'm not allowed to post it until after the deadline (it's a competition thing).

In 2d sections if you shake the controller you jump really high. Does it count as an jump if you do it in the air (through 2 player mode)? This could get about 10 moons that were locked. Also Sand Kingdom could work Update: sadly doesnt work (but we are getting closer)
the dog, in fact, doesn't spawn until you beat the objective moons in Sand Kingdom. As for the nut glitch, it's proven possible to do with the big acorn, not yet proven to be possible with the small one, if i remember correctly...

I'd be more inclined to call it a glitch considering that throwing the nut in water changes its properties. I highly doubt they would intentionally put that in.

I'm actually pretty curious how many moons are doable jumpless PAST those barrier moons. Like if you broke your rules to finish the festival or beat the pyramid, what moons after that are doable?
Most of the moons locked behind the two events in Sand and Metro are doable jumpless. Maybe a dozen aren't.

This has already been out for 5 months but I was rewatching it and thinking about a wrong warp into Metro Kingdom. A video by DGR he was able to wrong warp from Dark Side to Metro Kingdom. I am not sure if u leave while the festival is active and warp the festival will still be active, but if it is you might be able to climb the tower. Well unless u instantly die because of a death barrier, but who knows it might just be possible.

It remembers the festival- however, it spawns you at the odyssey despite the warp going onto new donk streets. I haven’t done extensive testing on this however.

Teclinsoro He's just trolling uninformed people. The game is beatable without using the left stick...by playing in first person mode. Impressively though, you can beat the Cloud Kingdom boss without the use of First-Person mode and using the left joystick.
I guess rolling is the only way to move in this case?
Crouch -> Attack gives forward momentum without L-Stick. The R-Stick in first person would be used to adjust Mario's angle so the roll goes in the right direction.

Dontell Aniwone u need to jump for the glitch to work. He can't do tht, and in the pyramids cold state the dog is trapped inside crazy cap, and won't come out until it's warm

There’s no TAS for switch. And also that’s not the point even if there was TAS. Actually I think there is TAS but idk.
There is no TAS for Odyssey. What good would a TAS even do? A TAS can't do anything magic. It can't get a moon that no one knows how to get. The only thing that a TAS could help with would be the nut jump for the Bowser Timer Challenge, but that's not even necessary since another method to get that moon was found. The only impossible moons now are 2D moons, the Festival plus everything locked behind it, and Jump, Jump, Jump. A TAS wouldn't make any of those any less impossible than they are now.

For the infinite night glitch moon, if you throw the nut into the water, you can wait for it to respawn be when it does it will still be wet. Then you don't have to do it as much. There are some people out there who would totally be able to do that

For that one Klepto moon in that sub area, you recover a wall jump after bouncing off lava if you bounce off Cappy. So maybe you could bring Cappy outside the Klepto trigger area, bounce over there, hit Cappy, then wall jump up

I have recently been working on a "minimum left-stick run" (which could also work as a Min. Left-JoyCon run, but the left-joystick aids in cap dives) and have actually made it to the beginning of the final story moon in Bowser's Kingdom with a whopping THREE left-stick inputs (those being one to scale the second wall in Top Hat Tower, and two to perform the Dino Skip in Cascade Kingdom). There were many points in this run that I felt were "impossible" (a strong example of this is the story moon in Luncheon Kingdom that involves breaking the cheese blocks to flip the switch) but as soon as I experimented with the game physics (captured enemies move a small amount backwards when they are uncaptured), I found that with hard work and dedication (after a long while of jumping, uncapturing, changing the first-person camera, and recapturing; I had made the Hammer Bro. to where it needed to be to destroy the blocks but as soon as I could capture it, it despawned) I could indeed get the moon. There are many moons that I attempted (and succeeded) even though they may seem impossible. A strong challenge that actually had me stuck thinking that it was indeed impossible was getting past the New Donk City Hall. In the city hall, you cannot enter First-Person mode, which usually bumps the difficulty of a challenge up by a large amount, and I had seen how this one building was able to make HelixSnake breakdown and make him stop playing Odyssey for a good while. At first sight, one would believe that the City Hall is "impossible" left-stickless, but I found that you can use the mini goombas and the fly bugs (whatever they're called) to change your direction. After over around 130 attempts, I finally got lucky at the end and was able to backflip my way, slowly but surely, towards the door. My progress has taught me that I can do a lot of things even when things seem impossible but I strongly agree with your ending statement. Though I have passed these many tough trials, there are still those three left-stick inputs in the tutorial worlds and possible necessary left-stick inputs in the two remaining more linear Kingdoms: Bowser's Kingdom and Moon Kingdom. Whatever it takes though, I am working very diligently on this and plan on finding new tricks to try and eliminate what I consider necessary inputs; mostly because I know I'm probably the only person in the world that has made or even attempted to make it this far. I highly recommend that anyone reading this that wants a good challenge should try this run or for an easier to understand run beat from Sand Kingdom to Ruined Kingdom without the left-stick. Those being the non-linear worlds and being confirmed to be possible without the left-stick, they should be an easier option for those who just want a clear challenge. I am currently trying to find tricks in order to utilize Min./No left-stick to its full potential. An example of this would be at the beginning where I thought that the only way to maintain forward momentum is by rolling down a hill but by now I can do consecutive triple jumps on flat land. I guess what I mean by all of this is that this challenge that one would assume is "impossible" has enlightened me in a sense.

@8:42 Because is not a proper glitch, but an exploit. You can exploit glitches, bugs, or actual mechanics of the game to get unintended results.
It's 2 intended mechanics each working as intended individually, but when combined give an unintended result.
Bouncing on a nut gives Mario height.
Picking up a nut lets Mario throw it.
Mario was never intended to be able to pick up and bounce on the same nut at the same time.
In addition, I'm not sure Mario is supposed to be able to bounce on an object he's thrown because it should fly too far away.
But it only seems to work after dropping the nut into water. That seems unintentional to me.

yea it is look up pimanrules on youtube. he used some kind of code to control the joy con inputs and get a really high score on the volleyball challenge
I've TASed before, and I know the process. Believe me, that's not what piman did.
He used a bot that read things what were happening in real time, and the bot would respond accordingly by pressing certain inputs. This is different from a TAS. In TASes, you go through the game frame by frame, inserting whatever button presses you need on said frames, then later going back and watching, and recording, it in real time.
That being said, I enjoyed piman's video, and I hope he could help us with this, but just know it's not a "TAS"
If you think I'm lying about having TASed before, I do have at least 1 TAS on my channel (Mario 64) with another one coming up soon, it's just not here yet because I'm not allowed to post it until after the deadline (it's a competition thing).

In 2d sections if you shake the controller you jump really high. Does it count as an jump if you do it in the air (through 2 player mode)? This could get about 10 moons that were locked. Also Sand Kingdom could work Update: sadly doesnt work (but we are getting closer)
