- A toolgun from the game garry's mod I made with my best friend for a Halloween event. This is a custom build we made over 3 weeks and software was made during that time, so here it is! a simple yet usable toolgun for all your gaming needs, we have many more effects added via sounds and a LED on the front.

This is the best gmod cosplay yet. I never thought about how the coiled wire actually spins during firing, it completely left my mind that it does rotate in the game. Also the display is actually functional rather than a piece of paper.
Yep, Rust is one of the only other facepunch games that is really noticable for the rotating coil. The display is running because of the raspberry pi located at the front of the toolgun.

swap out the blue crystal for an orange one and you have the gravity gun from half life 2

You need to add blue laser there. That'll make the tool gun more real
Sort of, I have a blue LED at the end of the barrel to simulate the blue laser, I had tried to think of a way to have a "blue laser" but in the end I had to scrap it due to dangers of playing with lasers and potentially hurting someone.

Honestly, I think the weapon in Gmod _should_ have an orange tip. It just makes it more charming, in my opinion.
I did it because of UK gun laws and replica laws, it allowed me to use it in public!

TBH it's terrifying if GMod is applied IRL.

Edit: Then again, you 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 just use the big brain strat, and noclip through public buildings. There ain't no way that they're gonna risk trying to kill you if you do that.
When you noclip it also negates most physical damage so theoretically I could no clip through bullets.
From pretty much the second I first saw this in game, I knew someone would make one IRL. I'm surprised it took several years for that to happen tbh

I watched this video expecting the screen to be a static image. Then i realized it was scrolling. Then you pressed the trigger and it made sounds and i was blown away. Then you revealed the spinning parts and i thought it was even cooler. THEN YOU SHOWED YOU CAN SWITCH BETWEEN DIFFERENT TOOLS WITH DIFFERENT SOUNDS. DUDE YOUR A MAD MAN. KUDOS TO YOU

It is a really fun project I was able to finish well, a lot of work went into researching components, buying and making up all the electronics, even the model had to be modified to fit the requirements, so a lot has been done to perfect the craft!
I can also add more custom screens, sounds and stuff, in the video I missed out all my meme versions like screaming scientists and valve's theme with the words "save the world".

Code written into the config, audio made using HL1 sounds as all words are seperate and exported to wav, some testing later and viola! I have added it.

I don't know how but you somehow got everything down to exact detail!
With a lot of pictures and buying items very close to the design but not everything is exact, example is the raspberry PI, its a Pi Zero and so is way smaller than something like a Pi A, but we wanted a low power usage device that can run on the lithium ion battery inside the hilt.
Some decals are still missing such as the warning stickers but i will be updating a little more of the decals in the future.

It took a lot of designing to get right, did a bunch of concept drawings and research
this is so impressive! i love that the display actuslly shows the current tool with the scrolling text and how it makes the sound for each one of them, the attention to detail is insane!!

Hi there! First off, lemme say, this is literally amazing. Great work. Anyways, I was wondering what models you used the revolver frame and the barrel?
So we used some models from the internet as a base, but made modifications to fit the components we purchased, I am working on getting an agreement with the original creator of the model to see if I can post them online, at the moment it is not there, do refer to the github in the coming weeks as I will have a statement there! And also the description to this video when I do get something.

Raspberry PI zero, I got majority of the stuff from PI hut aswell so it's not impossible to make another one but you will need to make modifications to the original model to fit any requirements. I have a spreadsheet containing prices and links to sites for the bits and pieces, I will upload it later for people to see, to my twitter.
Also I would make a tutorial but it takes a week or two as the process of making the 3D prints / painting, fitting components so making a tutorial isn't the easiest, though I have pictures of the process I sent to close friends which I can release, again on my twitter. I will comment here again when it is done.

Maybe in the future I can sell them on etsy or something, but right now I do not want to make or sell any as I am a fulltime worker and would have to make a bunch prior to selling + make a limited supply due to how long it takes to produce just one of these things.
But something that is on the table if I can.
