Very disappointing that RT is so abusive to independent creators. How is anyone supposed to feel comfortable with approaching smaller, more personable companies over huge, faceless corporations when the former may end up being so toxic?
Because smaller businesses aren't better than corporations. In fact smaller businesses tend to be more exploitative and less ethical than large corporations because there's less bureaucratic oversight. Humans in general tend to exploit each other. That's just something you have to navigate about life.
I've seen it so much with smaller businesses I've worked for, since you work so closely with the heart of the business, the pressure is on and they can feel they have the right to treat you however they want like a power trip. Corporations aren't anybetter and that toxicity trickles down into resources not being allocated to individual locations and to the people that work there. There will always be the locations that are the pride and joy of the company but the smaller locations don't see this same love. This makes working for companies large and small have the possibility of toxicity in the work place and it makes things hell for creatives and frankly, most places one can work at. Government jobs are even worse because instead of a corporation being the higher power, its the government themselves, and you can't write your senator for better treatment without consequences being given to not only you but your community as a whole. Just look at teachers...
Easily the most aggravating part about this. The show is great and has great potential but there’s so much freaking baggage attached to it now that I don’t want to see it continued
If only NoN's creator could've gone to Glitch Productions, I feel like his show and himself would've gotten the love they deserved. I've watched season 1 at least 3 times by now. I've always wondered when there'd be another season. Maybe I'll be in my 30's before I see another season, who knows.
True but Glitch just got their footing npw so he won't have been able to fo it with them, plus Glitch just green lit a show that wasn't the brothers original idea so he won't be able to make till way later, plus they mostly deal with 3d animations.
I am very, VERY happy someone remembers Nomad of Nowhere. I remember watching it in high school, and I was instantly in love with it! Lemme just say, it did NOT deserve to be treated the way it did, and most DEFINETLY deserves a second season. From the characters to the setting, it was just really, REALLY interesting Edit: If ANYTHING, I would love to see this show continue, but under a new company, as impossible or strange as that sounds.
@@notapplicable6985yeah with Rooster Teeth burning it’s Ed down after two decades of incompetence this is hopefully the time someone decides to buy and pick up nomad out of nowhere
This show has had a special place in my heart since the RUclips premiere of episode 1! It came out when I was in high school, and I am now a brand new graduate student… INCREDIBLE how time flies. The way I coped with this amazing show’s loss was reasoning that no season 2 was anywhere near worth the treatment and abuse the crew and creators received. I wish the show creators the best, and cannot wait to see what else they create down the line (preferably through avenues other than Rooster Teeth). It's amazing that despite all of the setbacks that the staff dealt with, they came out with a fascinating show. Although, it's like you said: a second season without the original creator on board would be pretty uncomfortable to watch. Hope that the new project goes well for everyone.
What a treat to see a video on NoN in 2023, I've been in the trenches of this fandom since the show came out and it means the absolute world to me What happened behind the scenes is extremely tragic, i was debating with myself on whether or not to make a video on it myself but i honestly think you nailed it One more thing though: Georden Whitman is also planning to start a comic re-do of NoN called Knight of Nothing (apparently the aesthetic and name change meant that RT didn't get the original property) that will be entirely his own, the designs for the main 4 characters are up on his Twitter and he's mentioned it a few other times
RT seems to now be in a situation where both there's too many heads that'd rather sweep issues under the rug rather than address them while also having no power or money to even TRY and improve. I'd say Gen:Lock truly marked the death to RT: An overly blown unecessary high budget production pet project who it's head wanted to push over the detrement of every other show and ending up with a subpar result, gone over budget and burning every bridge along the way. The entire company started was made as a tight community of friend which sadly doesn't always look for high end productions and by the time it had gotten too big the ones already in power desperately cling rather than fully restructure. Now having been brought by Warner media, the pressure for them to cling to their seats encourages less to change things cause that takes time and money they can't afford. So now we have a RT where RvB is ending without some of its key players, RWBY clings on the edge having no other way to survive but with force DC crossovers and Vtubers while it can't even afford a new season to be produced, Achievement Hunter losing so much power that it lead to its cancelation and so much more.

It is so weird hearing that no Rooster Teeth fans know about Nomand of Nowhere because it's the one Rooster Teeth show I really watched "all" of; It's the only reason I even tried RWBY
At this point Rooster Teeth is just a black hole for fun and creative ideas, Yeah sure it looks cool from a distance with its action scenes and RvB, but go anywhere near it and it'll crush you in an instant
I kind of assumed the failure was due to then sudden the transferring all shows to the RT site and then Gen:Lock getting so much attention marketing wise while Nomad got nothing killed it.
It wasn't the greatest show ever but it's a special one and I'm disappointed that it got bent so hard. There was such charm to it despite the animation style (particularly regarding the human characters) being something I don't usually tolerate well. But nevertheless, I had a lot fun watching it and I'm sad it was so short.
honestly i really enjoyed nomad, it was a sweet and charming oddity and scout was just the cutest. its sad that the project is more than likly dead, killed in the crip by the incomperdance and belligtance of RT. hell im one of the few people who dosnt might at least aspects of genlock.
You know what I find insane? Because of its low view count, most people would know about the Nomad of Nowhere from the Thanos vs. Darkseid Death Battle for its 15 million view count. The Nomad gets a brief mention and cameo in the video due to both shows airing on Rooster Teeth.
I loved Nomad of Nowhere, I was so looking forward to more of it. Instead we get crappier and crappier writing for what few things they still try to keep alive and everything else is left to rot.
I was... not ready for that. I adored Nomad of Nowhere and, having no idea of any of the behind the scenes things, was dismayed at the lack of continuation for what I considered Roosterteeth's best show. Now that I know what happened, I do feel conflicted in even hoping it will ever continue. I'm also outraged that Trocadero was snubbed for helping bring RvB into the station. They were such a huge part of RvB and they're such a talented and passionate band who have meant so much to fans of the show. Their music is a treasure and I feel ought to be better appreciated.
I watched Nomad of Nowhere as it came out on VRV only two channels even talked about it. I'm glad someone else found it, I had no clue about all the behind-the-scenes drama knowing helps put everything into perspective.
I'm sad at learning so much about the drama in RT, but Nomad of Nowhere is my favorite show they've made. It could be a cartoon on an actual network, because it doesn't rely on cursing or crass humor.
Good video. Unfortunate how RT started with individual creators getting freedome to create thier own videos (RvB, RWBY) and as it increased became what it is today. I can only wonder what Monty would think if he saw what the company has become.
So that's what happened to the show! I recall watching it every time a new episode came out, I liked it a lot. But then one day they just stopped uploading episodes and I had no idea why, I didn't know anything about the behind the scenes situation or the hiatus.

I'm really sad about nomad of nowhere. I watched it as a kid and absolutely loved it. It was kind of magical to me because years earlier I had watched the student film and together it made it seem like places like rooster teeth are where creatives go to make their dreams reality. Since I've watched rooster teeth bash the hard working people who work for them against the wall and wring them out for all their worth. Going into industry work I can only pray I never work for a company like rooster teeth. This show deserved so much more and while it's sad we probably won't get a second season without the original creator I don't think a second season would be as good anyways. I hope you're doing better Whitman.
I really loved this show. Nomad is infuriating because it had potential that shines through to be a decent show, but Cweirz ran it into the ground for his own vanity's sake, while Haddock slashed its budget to pieces to keep his own vanity project afloat. I doubt it'll come back- Camp Camp was much more Cweirz's passion project so he'd want to fight for it to come back, while Nomad was just a thing he took over for the sake of being a petulant bully. Add in Whitman's letter and it's safe to say they've no intention of reviving it.
I watched Nomad of Nowhere as it was airing and I loved it. What happened to it, and RT's staff as a whole is super disheartening. RT doesn't deserve to profit off of it anymore, but I'm sad that this story has been killed. I wonder if J can ever get the rights back. Also, NO ART DIRECTION???!! That's insane.
It was genuinely a favorite show of mine in 2018, and I watched every episodes premiere with my parents. Recently followed Port By The Sea on twitter and I didn't even know that was from the same guy! It's a shame we'll never get to see what could've been, but I also know that I'm excited to see what comes next.
Was re-watching the Thanos vs Darkseid death battle and I was completely blindsided when they had a cameo of Nomad of Nowhere in the middle of the episode. Made me question on whatever happen to the series (like why it never got a season 2) and now I ended up here. The results are sadly....not surprising.
I was wondering whatever happened to nomad of nowhere, I figured it was just one of those series that didn’t manage to catch an audience despite being pretty good. A bit unfortunate to hear that there was serious behind the scenes problems, but for rooster teeth I don’t find that surprising in the least. One of those examples of a company that worked fine when it was a team so small that it really wasn’t a company, but couldn’t apply those dynamics to a larger team that aren’t all personal friends.
Fun times, I'd watched *Nomad of Nowhere* and have never heard of *genlock*... but that's because I came across the former on RUclips and never went to the RoosterTeeth site. :D
I actually knew about NoN problem before but i didn't know about the creator part. Also i thought RT bringing the final ep of Camp Camp was like a cheap apology to how they treat 2d animations there. Now that they're planning to delete every CC ep on youtube i no longer hold on to this theory
I will say i watched the show so long ago and i loved it the magic from the original premise is still there and despite the conditions the animators still tried to put alot of love id love to see it be brought back...by a different company
this is the show that got me into RT. Was scrolling through Animations on youtube and Nomad EP 1 came up. I want a season 2 or at least an audio Book to continue the story. They ended on a cliff hanger and some much story that its criminal not to finish it. At least the art style survived through the RWBY fairy Tale shorts
Before watching Gen:lock mostly. Which was a shame, Gen:lock attempted to be more 'realistic' yet had a faction that was noted as not understand R&D only for them to pull out in the pilot a new never thought of development that took everyone by surprise, and the rest of the season their attempt to steal the plot device. There was something about Gen:lock being the baby of the Head of finance (or something) who redirect funds for NOW into Gen:lock.
God everytime i hear stories about RT it feels like they are deliberately trying to make me regret ever getting emotionally attached to their characters and shows. It's honestly heartbreaking
I managed to watch Nomad of Nowhere as it was airing and I loved it so much. It happened cause I was trying to get into RWBY since I had heard so many good things about it, it didn't happen. So on my way out I saw the titular Nomad kinda hidden in a corner and decided THIS is worth sticking around for. It didn't last long but was a much more enjoyable experience than the 3 episodes of rwby I tried watching (the fight sequences were sick though gotta give them that)
RIP Rooster Teeth. They had been rotting away for some time now, it was just a matter of time before they pulled the plug. Hopefully someone picks up on this abandoned masterpiece.
He also had a random cameo in a death battle episode. I remember he did because I liked the show, but I don’t remember which episode because his inclusion didn’t really make any sense. Edit: I was reminded, it was Thanos Vs Darksied.
I am only watching RWBY now on Rooster Teeth because I need to know how it ends. But other then that I absolutly had it with Rooster Teeth. They fell from grace and became a corrupt manipulative company that treats its employees like shit. I am so glad Glitch Productions is a thing now. I watched SMG4 since 2012 and I am so proud to see where they are now. Luke and Kevin are talented young and most importantly caring people that are giving creators a platform.
I loved Nomad of Nowhere from the moment it first aired, thought it was a great concept that wasn't executed in the best way possible but i never had a huge problem with that because i was already used to RT's way of doing things, being a RWBY fan since 2015. At the time Nomad aired I really didn't know much about what was happening behind the scenes apart from what RT themselves would show in their podcasts and RT Life videos, so I didn't know how much of a shitshow it was for some of the crew members until a couple years ago when i remembered Nomad existed and started to look up why there never was a second season. It's pretty sad that a show like Nomad was never able to reach it's true potential because of the toxic practices that what went on behind the scenes with a company that always presented itself as a great place to work in.
It's kinda funny that this show was one of the things you didn't see from rooster teeth for a long time, because nomad is one of the ONLY things I've seen from rooster teeth, along with a bit of camp camp
Our toxic relationship with RT is especially highlighted with Nomad of Nowhere.

I stopped watching RT after the season 13 finale of RvB and never went back. I don't feel like I've missed anything at all.
This is just… Sad…
I will say i watched the show so long ago and i loved it the magic from the original premise is still there and despite the conditions the animators still tried to put alot of love id love to see it be brought back...by a different company
this is the show that got me into RT. Was scrolling through Animations on youtube and Nomad EP 1 came up. I want a season 2 or at least an audio Book to continue the story. They ended on a cliff hanger and some much story that its criminal not to finish it. At least the art style survived through the RWBY fairy Tale shorts
I forgot all about nomad of nowhere ill have to watch it again
I really liked that show too to bad it’s not gonna get a new season the creator is not gonna go back to work at that toxic environment.
Good lord I forgot about this. It had like one season and just freakin VANISHED.
Before watching
Gen:lock mostly.
I have been trying to remember this show for so long!!!
Watched this a few years ago, wished it got more
God everytime i hear stories about RT it feels like they are deliberately trying to make me regret ever getting emotionally attached to their characters and shows. It's honestly heartbreaking
Nomad looks like glidedguy
I remember watching this in middle school lol, glad folks still remember it too
He also had a random cameo in a death battle episode. I remember he did because I liked the show, but I don’t remember which episode because his inclusion didn’t really make any sense.
Edit: I was reminded, it was Thanos Vs Darksied.
It was in the Thanos vs darkseid video
@@Chaotic-hex That’s what it was. Thank you
I watch the show about 3 years ago and I've tried all day to remember what it was I'm very happy I found it
I am only watching RWBY now on Rooster Teeth because I need to know how it ends.
I watched this show when it came out. I always wondered what happened to season 2.
It's kinda funny that this show was one of the things you didn't see from rooster teeth for a long time, because nomad is one of the ONLY things I've seen from rooster teeth, along with a bit of camp camp
how dare you miss this gem
The mention of xray and vav unlocked something I long forgotten
it went nowhere... pun intended
I just wanted to know whether others knew this show existed. I did not expect this. Amazing and tragic.
Every time I look back in on rooster teeth stuff I’m just disappointed. It’s just been sad reveal after sad reveal for a long time.
i loved nomad of nowhere, i was so upset when it wasnt renewed
I remember this, but not how it ended.
Funny fact, I've watched Nomad of Nowhere all the way through twice and have Never seen Genlock at all! XD
Nomad of Nowhere and Camp Camp deserved better but Rooster Teeth had other plans
We deserve s2
It reminds me so much of Trigun but different enough that it doesn’t feel like a rehash
I saw this show when it first came out, I really enjoyed it and was definitely hoping for more episodes.
I am glad I am not the only one thay very foundly remembers this.
