Hello just seen your video I just bought a 2010 vw Jetta the car has been sitting for a long time the battery was dead got a new one car does turn on but my windows don’t Wrk turn signal don’t work locks either do I have to do something to make it Wrk?
Have a 2007 with 275,000 miles . Bought it in Cabo Mexico, sold on auction in San Diego after a rear end collision and driven to Mexico where I bought it. Original engine and transmission, pretty shotty maintenance history. The transmission takes about 3 seconds to get into gear from park however shifts perfect thereafter. Changing transmission fluid filter next week. Ac still works, original ball joints and suspension. Only brakes and alternator. Car runs perfect. Uses about a quarter of a quart every 5000 miles. Runs as fast as it did new, even with a 275k original transmission. Also ordered spark plugs but on original coils, no misfire. Just brake pads and lock actuators, car is a tank.
I'm amazed at how important the air filter is. A dirty air filter will blow out a catalytic converter I've discovered in my Lexus years ago. These videos are great to subscribe to
06 jetta tdi with 301k miles. Never had issues. Only thing is my ignition locked up. I replaced it. Now have an immobilization active code. Cant figure it out
Thank you. I am considering a 2006 Jetta 2.5L with 5sp transmission. It has 126,000 and well maintained. I do not know much about them but it seems like a good deal from my co-worker for $2500. Is it the automatics or manual that had transmission issues, or both? Thanks!!
Hi Greeting Greeting from Puerto Rico. I have a 2010 Jetta 2.5 5 cylinders wondering if the timming belt its rubber or metal chain, the car has 120, 000 miles a looking forward to trade in December like to know if worh it change it, thanks congrats in your channel
Timing chain needs to be replaced every 100k miles or if you have chain stretch. You can test timing with vag com or obd eleven which your local mechanic should have. You can do the timing in the car but its more difficult than pulling the engine out so u have clear access. Also i recommend changing the oil every 2500 miles. Bought a used vw cc and didnt know how dirty the oil was until it caused damage. Wore out the cambridge screen and it caused the intake vvt solenoid to seize. Fixing the timing issue and cleaning cambridge/replacing vvt solenoid soon. Also have to deal with low oil pressure now which may have been caused by dirty oil. Lack of oil changes can increase wear on your oil pump, timing chain tensioners, chains, bearings, pistons, cams, any internal components.
I have a 12 VW Cc 2.0 turbo, basically the same engine as I understand it. It is the poorest piece of equipment I have ever owned with only 124000 miles. The issues are carbon build up in the engine as well as extreme oil usage. The megatronic transmission is extremely poor. I have driven 4 cars over 300,000 miles without having to replace the transmission.
jettas can generally be pretty problematic sometimes, i got my 2009 at 117,000 miles and it was $4,800 so i’d definitely check to see if there’s anything wrong with the one you’re looking at
I picked up my 08 Jetta 2.5 with 126k, 2 years later and it now has 151k only real things i have had to do is belt tensioners and idler pully they started making a squealing noise. Had the rear coils break a pretty easy thing to replace, I ended up putting solowerks coilovers on the car to lower it. I also do an oil change every 4-5k miles (I do beat on the car a lot) but over all they seem to be a pretty reliable vehicle.

Very informative! 👍🏾
You didn’t specify what “high mileage” is
Are you talking over 100,000 miles, 200,000, or 70,000?
Over 200000

Hi there boricua you have a timing chain buddy
If the oil is changed every 5000 miles. Do u have to change the timing chain ? Do you have yo take apart the engine and transmission to change it ?

You might want to have an oil analysis done... I'm suspicious that's been getting conventional oil instead of synth.
What about the transmission fluid?????????
What about transmission fluid?
Can you guys do a high mileage video on a 2001-2007 Dodge Grand Caravan/Chrysler town and country

...A 2.0L turbo 4 cylinder engine is the same as a 2.5L naturally aspirated 5 cylinder engine?
3:30 this mechanic is asking you to pick the soap ;)
