This is great advice. When I got away from trying to memorize card meanings, and allowed myself to use my intuition, looking deeply at the card while asking it "what are saying right now, what message do you want me to convey", my ability to "read" cards improved immediately. I love your lesson here.

John, it appears to me questioners are picking either seven or fifteen, the questioner thinks these numbers are none commital or occupy neutral space. However, the technique you outline here is of great help to a reader. All too often people are just not willing to trust (either me with this question - can you pick a number please? ) or be honest with themselves. perhaps they'd like insight - just not too much of it. like watching Dr Who through their fingers.

I'm just beginning what I hope will be my journey with Tarot. I've looked at videos from others and decided that yours are the most helpful to my learning process because they focus on your intuitive process, not memoizimg standard meanings. That being said, the two decks I was drawn to purchase don't have the standard images, and one even slightly changes the description or meaning of some of the major arcana. How do you think this will impact my learning? As a beginner, should I use a traditional deck while I'm learning before using the non-standard decks?

To me this sounds quite similar to what Eden Gray said: that we should not know the question, but the questioner will know it, subconsciously. The question spoken might not always be the right one. Though this system with the numbers might work best with those that don't know the cards numbers. I would pick number 0 any-time =)
