Can we take a minute to admire the COMMITMENT to the late 70’s/early 80’s aesthetic? Please Ginger Root, give us a behind the scenes. I’m dying to see how you put this all together.
@Revima its more than just editing, though ofc thats a large part of it. everything down to the clothes and items theyre using are all so loyal to the era being emulated. it creates immersion and that's impressive, immersion is difficult to pull off, and takes a lot more than filters and editing
I love the symbolism. I think it represents him leaving his old self behind. At the same time, within the worldbuilding I think the Cameron in the black suit is actually Makoto, a mangaka within the Ginger Root universe.
We are so sad to see you leave. I'm glad I bumped into you in the hallway 1:07 to bid you a final farewell. We at Juban TV wish you the best on your next endeavors. /s
Still feel proud and excited ever since the Mahjong Room album. It's so magical seeing the growth of Ginger Root. Please come back to San Francisco & Taiwan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I also really appreciate that this actually LOOKS like it was filmed in the late 80s/early 90s and nothing is overly detailed. (Huge pet peeve of mine when movies try this style but everything’s still way too detailed compared to how it was back then)
3:47 when you can see all the plushies in the background there's a Dr Simi that I gave him!!!!! Aaaaahhhhh!!! I love this song, can't wait to see what's next (I was so excited for the movie too 😭🤟)
the quirky DIY aesthetic of the ending, feels very faithful to the era you’re trying to emulate. so many movies at that time had gadgets and devices and home-made contraptions. seeing that same concept referenced here (whether intentional or not), really felt authentic. loved it !!
The Ginger Root project is a testament to what is possible these days. We live in a golden age of creativity. Your love for what you do is evident in the high level of care and attention to detail on display. Looking forward to watching you grow as an artist. Keep up the good work, you've brought me a lot of joy in uncertain times.
i absolutely loved the loretta jokes, i know the last album was about imposter syndrome, but this one's story could be about feeling like you're falling short of what was your most popular song edit: some things to backup this idea, the idea of s1 of "meet you in the galaxy" flopping could be a feeling that nisemono "wasnt enough" and him not meeting juban tv's standard could be also referring to how he might feel that it paled in comparison to city slicker (it didn't btw) since both pieces of media are from those respective albums
@@nahuel_fernandez if you're talking about nisemono, he says in the desc that it is, and if you think about it that way, it does show its themes through the MVs
Probably somewhat budget efficient as well as a potential analogy for how small and maybe unimportant life can feel after getting dropped or betrayed Or maybe i am being a fuckin english teacher about it
The essence of CityPop is arranged in a unique way, making you feel like you're walking through the city at night. I always listen to it on my way home from work. I live in the countryside in Japan, so I couldn't go to the concert, but I'm rooting for you.
Really looking forward to the new cast of characters in the ginger root lore! Also, love how you guys used miniatures to showcase Juban District, all that's missing is a giant lizard roaming around.
I feel you. I feel exactly the same now. I’m recovering from depression right now… There might be days that it’s hard to even listen to music. But music definitely helps you through tough times! There’s gonna be a light in the tunnel. So please hang in there. You are not alone… xx From a lady behind manager - san
The little parallel shots between him leaving the office and the rest of the crew at work were really clever! (the lights in the studio contrasted with his desk lamp shutting off etc.)
O holy cow, I'm on the flipping hype train. Bro Schmoopie is one of my favorite songs of all time. And then Red right after it. I listen to Mahjong room on repeat all the time. I did not mean to totally gush but you're legit my favorite modern band. "It's like I always say when you want to write a comment and it's too long, you DON'T write it"
I loved the second the camera pulled out to the miniatures; the aesthetic is so on-point and the album is starting with such a sprint and such a tight groove I'm glad that even in spite of you co-directing, the video still oozes everything Ginger Root. The easter eggs, the humor (the Cameron doppelganger made me lmao) and a razor-sharp style that only gets more honed with every upload.
PLEASE remove the ending thumbnails if you can! The suggestions for your next videos pop up before the videos end, and I couldn't see the final sequence / the credits as well as I would've liked! Still, I was still able to garner what was going on, and it makes sense if you want people to go to the next video...!

Cameron, you never fail to outdo yourself every time. Creativity, sincerity and commitment to craft is something that I always associate with your work. You really pull out all the stops when you decide to make something. The concept, melody, songwriting and video direction (I love the savage female boss, toys, handmade props, etc.) are sublime for this single, up there with 'Loretta' and 'Juban District'.
