Love your content dude. Not trying to bash anybody else’s content, cuz everybody who creates TW:Warhammer content is real great, but I feel like you specifically dive really deep really into the mechanical side of the game while still giving lore its due, not just one or the other.
I'm super excited for playing Arnessa, will probably end up playing her campaign first. I have an inkling that she's going to have several human units and that she'll have humans crew the artillery but we shall see. I'm glad she's not a vampire as her sea-mutant aesthetic looks so awesome, I can't wait to see her melee animations.
Seems like they really pulled back on the mutant angle. Instead of being colored by pallid green skin or scales, any inhuman part of her is just cut off at the elbow. She looks like she just put on a costume's gloves. It's like CA was afraid she wouldn't be pretty enough or something.
Perfect vigor + a solid mount = gg
Woohoo two vids today. Really love how in depth these have been!
Aaaand I just finished watching your previous video. Damn, you work fast.
hahaha it's an exciting time! :)
If I remember right, Grace said on Reddit that Sartosan Free Company are a specific type of unit.
Loving the content man! Keep it up :)
Two questions regarding the map expansion:
1) Do you think the new island location by Skrolk will be the starting location of the Lizardmen lord in the upcoming lord pack?
2) Do you think Araby is more likely than the Southern Realms for the next race pack given the expansion of the Land of Dervishes?
1) the Lizardmen lord in the campaign pack will almost definitely be in Lustria, I think with the free DLC lord on southlands
2) Araby seems more and more unlikely to me now, there isn't really much space to put them now the deserts of the southlands are full of tomb kings
bluemeat They just revealed that they expanded the mortal empires map to include a small island off the coast of Skrolk's starting location, the Heart of the Jungle, & the Land of Dervishes. The Land of Dervishes could act as a starting location for Araby.
The island of Chupayotl I think will be Lokhir Fellheart's startpos - he found his helm of the Kraken there so it would probably make sense. Either that or definitely a quest battle for him there.
Shagrat65 Yeah, that probably makes more sense given that Naggaroth already has two LLs in pretty close proximity up in Naggaroth.
I'm interested in whether CA will run with the hybrid lords theme and expand it the other way around to include lords that use mechanics of other factions. Hopefully we'll find out when they release details on Lokhir Fellheart. It would be awesome if Lokhir's uses a hybridised form of "Naval Hoard" without being part of the Vampire Coast faction. Is would open up doors for the other Dreadfleet/Grand Allience lords to be added without having to release another pirate themed faction DLC. Jaego could then be added to the Empire, Amanhotep to Tomb Kings etc as FLCs or as lords pack DLC.
The Vampirate Coast.
Where one LL isnt a vampire, and one isnt a pirate(if it ends up being the Princess).
I'm extremely excited for this Race Pack :)
Damn Spartacus, you're on point with these updates!
Just pointing out no, you can't argue that Arkhan the black shouldn't be in Tomb Kings as he was in their army book first. :P
Sartosa free company could be a living versions of the zombie based units having the same stats and armament as the zombies but using empire base models and animations. This would limit her undead units to the various monterous units.
I don't think the zombies would have good stats though, and only peasants are so pathetic to be as pathetic as a zombie
well if they make them have better stats the wont be unbreakable and won't have any healing available (maybe? dunno what new lore has) then that might balance it out
Aranessa's army trait does boost MA and WD for Sartosa Free Companny units and she has an ability that increases leadership so depending on the values this could be enough to make their stats closer to Empire State troops. Outside of that can you really expect drunk sailors to be more coordinated then zombies...
I am kinda expecting re-skinned swordsmen, gunners and free company. I agree that she probably won't have undead units.
Great video! Arenessa is definitely gonna be my first VC LL, I think. Quite hyped to see who the final LL is too!
Sam Witwer, is that you in drag? Damn you go, Starkiller.
They are all so close, I think they should put someone on one of the islands north of the high elves, the same way they did with that tomb king being by the dark elves.
Cant wait to play the new faction also keep up the good work
Hmm someone should show this Mutant a good time! ;) And dang I can't wait to see some games and battles with her in them.
What about that unused island in the sea of choas for starting pos. #4? They are all close together now, but as with the Tomb Kings, this may vary.
I feel like they should change "rotting promethean" to just "promethean" for her given her affinity for the sea as opposed to the undead. I mean would it really be hard to just make them a little more brighter and remove the decaying texture for the 2 promethean units? Also they could just re-skin the carronades and other undead pirate units with free company skins and maybe give them a boost to accuracy and hp or something like that. I feel like changes like these would make her position more lore friendly with little cost to the developers.
With the promethean, I agree. For the rest, no. Just 'putting human skins on the zombie pirates' is not nearly as easy to do as it is to repeat over and over. Not only would they have to actually do the reskin, they'd also need to pull completely new anims for them so that they dont' shamble around/look undead, which is a lot more effort than it sounds. Units like the cannon-wielding zombies seen in the trailer don't use animations available to any extant empire units, for example.
She should have been saved for Dogs of War or a TWW4 pirate faction (my fantasy is that they do a TWW4 and make it naval-focused). But yeah her new lore is incredibly stupid. She should not be leading the undead. She's a fucking mutant whose whole thing was being a mutant with a weird fishy ship and a mutant crew. Why are vampires hanging out with someone they could fucking rip in half with their bare hands? Why are they creating armies for someone who can't even control the undead herself? Why wouldn't a vampire just kill her and take her ship or leave and go be their own boss, considering that vampires are famously assholes who do not even enjoy working with vampires, let alone with mortals they view as essentially livestock at best?
It looks like as well as free company militia she has got access to mortars from the empire rooster. As far as we know this is not a standard Vampire Coast unit or maybe it will be, we will see....
Yeah, her having maybe 3-4 units from the Empire would be nice. Although mortars are not that great in my experience at least.
@@christiandauz3742 I got feeling one of their weaknesses is infantry, as it is pretty much all zombies with exception of those depth guard
@@ollym8355 Yeah we won't know until we see the roster, but it seems they will be Monster and Ranged focused mostly.
If you line the ley lines of the trailer announcement and the the map, the next lord will be in Land of the Dervishes.
Some of her lore mentions vampire first mates. It is likely she will have both humans and zombies then. I think she will have reskinned (and renamed) Empire Free Company Militia and Empire Handgunners. She may also get mortar and cannon too. Don’t expect too much - it will be fun either way. They wont get rid off all of the undead units - zombies will play their part in her roster.
Can't get fatigue when you got no legs that get tired
Legendary vampire coast lord starts in sudenburg or it could be Lokhir Fellheart who starts in that elven ruin in the land of the dervishes. We'll see in less then 2 hours who and where the next one will be 😊
I think the last lord is likely a spell caster. About every faction at least had one. Now that I think about it.
Did vampire coast have magic users in tabletop . I think that's why Jacoba or vangesit where not added because they needed a magic only lord
siren of the storms is the hint
Really hoping they give us an actual living pirate model instead of just free company milita. Even if it's just one model we could mod a full living pirate faction from it.
The assets alone will allow modders to create a faction
@@SephTunes they already kind of have with the free company milita, it's just a little to one dimensional and shitty looking to really enjoy a campaign with. If the can get just one or two more assets in there they could combine them with what they already have to make a real nice Sartosa faction.
I wonder if the Sartosan units or a mod could rework Norscan Javelin throwers as Harpooners (close range anti-large); Handgunners to deck gunners with loose formation, smaller unit count, better accuracy; and Manticores into some form of Stromfels/mermanticores? I can't imagine she'd associate with Norscan reavers unless they were also exiled mutants. I'd rather have more of the undead portion of her army be the sea creatures.
At first when I noticed the similarities between the silhouette and the Silver Princess, I got excited for that possibility. But having checked her lore, I agree that there’s really nothing piratey about her. She’s a vampire, so that works, and they could easily co-opt her into the faction.
Now though, I’m hoping that the legendary lord is this “Siren of the Storms” that was mentioned in the first missive. An ethereal lord with a focus on Lore of the Deep magic would be awesome!
Plus... if they ever implement Araby, the Silver Princess could make a great Araby/Vampire hybrid lord!
Do you think it is possible for the 4th lord to be comtesse charlotta jacoba? She looks a lot like the outline, a fan, staff and the hair all fit perfectly.
"Gym Crabs" otherwise known as Power Bars in our world.
They released a stream showcasing the units today. All the models look amazing except for the Sartosa Free Company. It's only one human unit in her roster, which I can live with, but they really don't look very piratey at all which seems to be the biggest complaint right now. I would have loved to see her have human infantry that trade the ability to be healed for accuracy and better combat stats, feels like a bit of a missed opportunity with Saltspite.
Im curious to see if there will be a generic Lord option for Vampire Coast. Secondly, will there be a generic human lord for Aranessa’s faction? So many questions!
I know this is a crazy thought hut what happends if the fourth lord was an amazonian cause that headress looks aztec inspired.
She's bretonnian
Sparty, brov, doesn't it say "vampire first mate" on the info page at total war academy? There you go, mystery solved.
always up to dat lovez it:)
Would its be cool if Sartosan Free Company. Were base off some obscure units in the lore or fan units
Instead all being re-skins of empire units
I'm hoping that she starts in the bottom most island
I think I would have preferred if she was basically an empire faction but with the crabs and sea monsters instead of cavalry.
I wanted her to be a undead Skaven Lord with Skaven pirates and gunners instead of zombies but o well.
It should have been Vangheist and Shadewraith as unique ship would be cool to have spectral Lord.
Lokhir Fellheart as the FLC lord, eh? Eh?
Since arkhan and alarielle both got 3 units, Aranessa´ll probaby get 3 as well. Free Company´s a given, probably handgunners and the mortars. Gameplaywise, a cavallry-unit as Empireunit would be nice, but as a shipbased faction, thats unlikely
@Apocolo toth - I believe Arkhan got 4 units from the vampire roster: Fell Bats, Dire Wolves, Crypt Ghouls and Hexwraiths. I, too, am hoping that Aranessa gets a few different human units on her roster!
Everyone seems to be in agreement that Lokhir makes the most sense as FLC lord attached to this DLC. I'm wondering if CA will also give him the naval hoard mechanic even though he'll be a Dark Elf faction. Hopefully it's possible since it would fit his lore and other naval/pirate lords that could possibly get added to other factions in that future.
Because Vampire Coast, a Gunpowder and Artillery based faction needs mortars, Hand Gunners, and Free Company.
Aw shes got no legs i feel very sad!!! :-(((
They also added the Heart of the Jungle to the moral empires map
I think the 4th one comes from the far-east (Nippon, Cathay, etc.) due to the fan and that it would be a way for them to start introducing warhammer 3 stuff (bloaters = ogers)
wait so warhammer lore noob here, why is she still a vampire coast lord if she wont use undead?
The Vampire Coast itself is an extremely minor faction, so it looks like CA is drawing in another vaguely related and also entirely minor faction, the Pirates of Sartosa, to help fill out the roster with at least one more Legendary Lord. It's better to think of it as the "Pirates DLC" than the "Vampire Coast DLC", since we're getting a lot more than just Luthor.
She will use undead. CA elected to take a shit on the lore and so vampires for some reason serve her. And for some reason human pirates are cool with hanging out alongside vampires, rotting corpses, and dark magic that is famous for corrupting and decaying the living. And the vampires also lead her armies for her, because Aranessa isn't a vampire or necromancer and so can't control the undead. She should at most be a hero unit, but no, we'll for the first time in Warhammer have undead armies being lead by a commander incapable of using any undead-related magic (Harkon aside who is a specific exception). And WHY exactly vampires would serve a mortal mutant and give her their armies instead of, say, fucking murdering her and taking her ship for themselves, is a complete and total mystery.
Why can't the ME map include everything?
they explained during one of the FAQs but i can't remember the reason :(
Yeah I've forgotten their reason too. But who knows? Maybe once game 3 and all the dlc is out, they will eventually have pretty much the full map. Here is to wishing right?
God I hope we get actual Sartosa, all this talk about pirates makes me want to kill some undead as my favorite Pirates!
WH3 needs to bring navel battles
She look-a like-a maaaaan....
yeah but don't worry mods will fix her face
totalwarwarhammer.gamepedia.com/File:Layla_FactionSymbol.png
Well gamepedia is usually really reliable with their data mining so if they are anything to go by, Silver Princess is the final lord.
They also thought neferata was coming with the silver host ;)
This gives me hope that someday we will be able to play as Nippon, Ind, Cathay someday. I don't mind CA giving it their own creative liberty, I think they can take many mechanics of the Shogun games and bring it to the Warhammer setting
Sudenburg added to ME! DOW Confirmed!
If anything this means Araby Confirmed.
If she breathes.........
Alec Adanglao SHE IS A THOOOOOOOOT
shes a QWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN
If it bleeds we can ................
ARRRRRRRRRRRRRGH SHE BE A PIRATE
@Karl FranZ
You naughty, naughty emperor! :P
i love how optimistic everyone in the comments are but we all know deep down that she is gonna get a bullshit undead army with like 1 human unit type (similar to how Alith Anar has his special unit of shadow warriors) even though it makes no sense what so ever. we are just gonna have to live with the fact that the sartosa pirate lords have been retconned into undead pirates.
So she is female Davy Jones?
She is in the lore. CA has turned her into a mutant, who instead of mutants will just have human followers, plus for some reason vampires serve her and so somehow she also has an undead army. She used to be female Davy Jones, now she's a mutant who no longer leads mutants but instead leads vampires who lead undead for her (because she has no necromantic power and thus cannot command the dead).
In other words she's really fucking stupid now.
Using Aranessa was really stupid on CA's part. There's no reason why vampires would want to serve her, she herself would be incapable of commanding any of her units except the Sartosa free company, and why the fuck would she want to associate with vampires/use undead troops in the first place? It doesn't make any sense. And Aranessa isn't such a popular character that people would have been PO'd if she'd been left out of a Vampire Coast DLC (especially considering she has absolutely no history of associating with vampires or the Vampire Coast).
All-in-all a pretty big fuck-up on CA's part, shoehorning in a minimally interesting character while simultaneously breaking the lore to somehow make her even less interesting. Seriously, "female Davy Jones" is more interesting than "she's a mutant, she has human pirates and for some reason superhuman, megalomaniacal vampires decided they'd devote their immense power/immortality to giving her an army to command through them for some reason.
Her and khalida are definitely the hottest female characters😅😅👌👌👌
I hope you are sarcastic lol
Pandarian300 Very....
why CA made her head like a dude head instead, I don't know more femininely like her GW artwork ?
I don’t know, she kind of looks feminine to me. Also bear in mind that she’s a mutant who’s spent most of her time interacting with other people via piracy, so it would make sense that she looks a bit rough.
Seems like they really pulled back on the mutant angle. Instead of being colored by pallid green skin or scales, any inhuman part of her is just cut off at the elbow. She looks like she just put on a costume's gloves. It's like CA was afraid she wouldn't be pretty enough or something.
I thought it was a dude at first too because of how square jawed she looked with that fish mandible attached to her jaw and the way her hair framed her face, making her more blocky.
Yeah, I think she looks like a dude...not too happy with her face.
Well on the bright side, Mod devs have something to do... unless they lazily put makeup on her.
Also this is totally in line with Games Workshop models... Sisters of Battle for example look like men with wigs. Well it is a Warhammer setting so expect most of them to look homely like their male counterparts; it's in keeping with the "grimdark" setting, where even newborn babies look like grizzled veterans who've seen shit.
Notable exception being that it is explicitly stated that they're handsome/pretty (Blood Angel space marines, Saint Celestine, some primrarchs[?], High elves [technically] and Isha). But few have this label in both the fantasy and 40k. setting.
I think you should practice more on the text you're going to read. You stutter a lot (and there's nothing wrong with that mind you, I am definitely NOT better. I am a terrible speaker). Just wanted to point it out for you
