- Hello and welcome to my channel. This video is all about vintage Seiko watches. This is my own ever growing personal collection of vintage Seiko. I like the retro styling Seiko put into their models back in the 1970s. I like to try to restore all the watches I buy which means that I tend to buy watches needing a service or a complete restoration. Its the working on the watches I enjoy most and the collection is almost a byproduct of my obsession of watch repair. Restoration I know is not for everyone but on models like this I really think its worth all the effort. This is part one of a two part series.

I have a sekio sportsmatic super 5 weekdater wondering the value of it any idea ruffley
I have seiko 5 automatic 6349-501A watch with muscat oman emplem in it. is it worthy??
Your watch was most likely produced in June of 1989 thank you so so mutch !!!! it mayby older but this is the most accurate i know for now mutch love to your channel keep it classic :) !!!
I've bought two vintage Seikos this year and I have to say, I'm also hooked. I have very slim wrists so a lot of the vintage watch sizes suit me.
They can be very addictive! since doing this video I have countless more of them.
i'm hooked too!!
Since my last comment I now have a third vintage watch, an excellent condition gold 9940-8010. Engraving on the back says it's a corporate gift from the Chiba Housing Supply Corp.
I love all the different designs, Seiko is definitely one of those brands that seems to have a watch for every taste.
I bought two in the last two days. Kinda think I might be hooked too.
Very true 👍🏻🙄🥺
I bought a Vintage Orient 3 star. I 💓 the size, color, unique design. Now I want more.
I like vintage Seikos too! They're usually very rugged, all stainless cases (so no brassing) and good for starter vintage collectors.
steal is a lot heavier and i dont like hevy watches on my wrist
Thanks for sharing. I happen to have the watch you showed at 17.53 with a silver dial and its original metal bracelet. I got it from my grand father when I was a kid in 1976. It is in remarkable good shape and working order.
I used to only be interested in Swiss watches; but since I've subscribed to your channel (and looking at other videos on RUclips) I've become a real fan of Seiko (and other Japanese makers). As such, many thanks for tuning me into Seiko as they've made some wonderful watches.
Welcome aboard!
Amazing collection. I love it that you're restoring 'em.
Seiko seems to be the best watch brand out there.
There are nicer/ newer watches but these are cheap af and look great. Vintage looks awesome.
I don't know a ton about watches, but it seems like older seikos really mastered that 70's flash, without stepping over the line into obnoxious.
I have a couple advans I get compliments on all the time.
There is a Citizen I saw with a similar aesthetic (that'll probably be my 4th watch purchase), but (imo) the seikos pull it off more often.
Wonderful, extraordinary collection, one more beautiful than the other, thank you Sir
Thank you so much.
A really fantastic collection.. Futuristic, wonderfull & extremely varied with many very beautiful examples.. You can see the design throughout the whole range something that shines through from the Seiko 5's to the king seiko's of the past & the grand seiko's of the present. Thank you for showing your collection. Seiko are so undervalued..
Thanx so much for sharing your collection. You have rescued a bit of history there. I was a young teen in the 70's and I do remember having a Seiko watch back then. My first watch back then was a Timex of course. Very nice collection.
Beautiful collection! I also have a large collection of watches, including Seiko, and I have some of the ones you presented. Love it too much!
Amazing pieces in this collection!
Nice collection
Thanks Mike for showing us this really nice collection of seiko vintage watches. By the way, you don't have a problem, I also have a seiko collection of 110 pieces and I know what it's like. 😁
Thank you for your comment Sir. I am not alone!!! great. To be honest there are guys in the Facebook group with 400+ so that always makes me feel a little better! Part two is coming in the next few days so stay tuned as there are some really nice ones still to show.
Wow what a collection. I have recently bought my first vintage seiko. Its the 5Y23-6069. Quite rare and its in old-stock condition.
sir, you are my inspiration into collecting vintage seikos. i hope one day i can just have as much vintage seikos as you've got right here. currently I've only two, so a long way to go.
Sir, i have 02 Sieko vintage mens wrist watches. 01 is automatic and second one is quartz. I like your collection. Also i have a collection of vintage table alarm clocks and vintage coins of more than 145 years before.
Amazing, I love Seiko Watches 😘
Loving this video as I browse through ebay and ogle over photos of the 1976 Seiko JPS chrono I'm supposed to pickup on Friday!!!!
Fantastic collection. I love the funk, I'm really enjoying your videos, You are a great educator and I'm slowly getting up the nerve to try my own first restoration. Can't wait to see part 2.
Thank you for this comment, I am flattered by your educator comment. never really saw myself in that way! good luck with your restoration and know there is support behind you should you need it. part two coming soon.
I absolutely love the quartz with the blue textured dial. Good job!
That’s a serious 🧐 collection, there. I hope 🤞 to hit some thrift stores 🏬, because I do find people’s great 😊 stuff there. This is another way of giving away unwanted stuff, such as a move, or if the person is deceased. I’d really like to know a few other places where to get such great 👍 watches. Even if these were mass produced at the time (but I don’t know), these are way better than today’s super mass produced watches (more so mass produced). Attention definitely went into detail with your watches. They were (and always will be) always a watch that anybody will be proud 🥹 wearing. Your friend, Jeff.
Thanks again for the video. I've been watching your videos. I really appreciate you posting that link to watchsleuth. I have two Seiko watches, a Pulsar Solar and a Spoon Quartz Bullhead and I realized I bought them when I was a High school senior. Even though I'm liking mechanical watches right now, I'm cherishing my old quartzs a lot now, they been with me most of my life, in my highs and in my lows. Thank you.
Thanks for commenting sir, always nice to hear people are enjoying my content. The Spoon bullhead sounds interesting. There can be a bit of a cult following on Spoon watches so definitely hold on to it and keep it working. (never leave batteries in past their death)
Just bought my first watch and it’s exactly like your first haha
Wow... what a stunning collection! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for uploading such a nice video on some classic Seiko watches. I really enjoyed the video. I too have got collection of 5 Seiko watches.
Very nice collection! My first vintage Seiko was my father's 6119-6050 Regatta.
I feel a new hobby coming on…
Also can't wait for part 2 !
Have been watching your channel from afar. This is the best episode yet, simply because you’re sharing the journey and inspiring collectors/hobbyists. Would be keen to understand how you sourced some of the rare bracelets. I’m on the lookout for the bracelet to complete my fathers old 6138 tokei Zara. Keep up the great work
Thank you for your comment Brad. I am happy to read you liked this video in particular. Part 2 is coming soon! as for sourcing bracelets I just ask and email everyone I know. use web forums to put out a parts request and my / other Facebook groups. It can take a long time, 6 months being the longest but eventually you can get lucky. I email ebay sellers allot as traders like Thewatchcollector in the Philippines does not list all of his stuff. I show them pictures of what I am looking for. This is the only way I think to just reach out to everyone and anyone. I can only wish you luck.
That blue starp, blue faced watch looks sharp though
There are some watches here I have never seen before! Amazing stuff.
I am interested in 7006 Seiko models. Not Seiko 5 with 7006 but rather ordinary Seiko models. Very durable calibers when properly serviced and maintained. Better than most today's movements. I don't know why but they're rock solid. Beautiful collection btw.
You like blue my favorite also. Lately I been buying cheap watches from China and India It cost less to buy a new from China to learn than old movements . So my skill is progressing Mike . 👍🏼. Like you I like working also many new Seiko. Have 8 Presage. Expensive. Even 2 barrel shaped that 25 jewel is the best one zMike
Omg, you've got a paradise in that box, currently I only have 12 watches, good video sir.
Damn fine collection! Love the retro Japanese stylings ...
Those are the nicest Seiko fives I've seen. They had some dial and case finishes from the Lord matic range I think. Very special. Newer Fives are just cheap tat
Coolest watch collection if you ask me. Better than collections of Rolexes and AP's. Keep it up
9:10 The 6309-5810 is my favourite here - a very stylish watch
I am impressed with your collection...keep it up sir...
Ok I already knew you were a genius fixing and shopping for watches, my question is how do you convince your significant other that you need a new watch? I love to watch your videos.
haha I don't I do worry that putting my videos out of my collection she will then find out the truth to how big my addiction has got! that said I dont buy what I cant afford and some I do fix to flip to fund some of the hobby so I am usually at the break even point.
Love the collection!! Get well soon Sir!!
Hi there. I’m a little late to the party but glad I found this video. At a local thrift store I came across the same watch as one in your case. I believe it is the #11 that you viewed. It’s the one with the blue linen dial. I’d like to pick your brain on this piece if I could. As of right now I have the crystal being replaced.
What do you need to know?
@@MyRetroWatches are you familiar with what model it is? I’d like to find an original bracelet to match. I guess that’s the main thing. Looking to get it back to glory
Very nice collection Mike I don't think anyone can beat Seiko blue dials I love them .
Seiko Boy thanks. Blue dials, green dials, brown dials red dials. I love all of them!
Looking forward to seeing the rest. I think you have enough for a few more episodes! ;)
Thanks Eric. hopefully uploaded over the weekend.
They really are beautiful and diverse! I really love the one at 9:46!
I once saw one similiar to the one at 13:45 and I was contemplating about it, didn't get in the end. I own a silver dial 2206-0910, it's also a Seiko 5.
Just with love for the watches....
Wish I could rob this some day....
Lolzzzzz.....
Love from India......
🙏🇮🇳🙏🇮🇳🙏
Just added a 6349-549A to my little lot, is an Indian but its actually in very original and clean condition and so pleased with it :D
I was researching my late grandfather's watch and found your video. It's a Seiko 5 6119-5431 made in June of 1973, so same as the first watch of your collection, only with a white clock face. It would need some restoration to get back to its former glory, especially on the white clock face which shows some slightly damaged areas. It's nice to know that this watch made you start your whole collection and you did an excellent job restoring it. In fact, just seeing how it came out makes me want to see my grandpa's watch shine again. In my case I have zero experience, so it's better for this watch if I stay humble and just take it to a shop. Maybe I could start tinkering with a watch I'm less attached to...
The main time mechanism and the date are working fine, while the space where the day of the week should be indicated is white, as if it was stuck between two days. Do you know how to change the day on this model? I read that the date on 6119 A/B models needs to be set by moving the hands 24 hours, while on 6119 C the crown needs to be pushed--as with the date, only deeper--but I don't know which sub-model this one is. Neither method seems to affect this particular mechanism at all, confirming its likely damage, but it would be nice to know anyway, and I just may try again before sending it in for repair. The bracelet lock seems to be firmly stuck too, but I suppose it can be salvaged.
Nice evolution and collection! And no, I don t think you have a problem! As neither do I! 😜
Hello my friend. Living in denial haha. My only problem is I find it hard to move away from Seiko
My Retro Watches no need to move away from Seiko. Plenty of models to chose from and keep us busy for a lifetime :)
You created more interests inside me. Your video generated so much affection towards Seiko watches. Recently I bought few vintage , refurbished watches and hooked into it.
What about Ricoh watches? In India, too many variants of Ricoh vintage watches, made in Japan are available in affordable price. But some say, they are not serviceable as parts won't be available for Ricoh watches.
That is great to see that some of my videos are inspiring. Ricoch I love! I only have one now but its such a good movement. I also like early Orients of the 70s. ]
Mind blowing collection
Best collection all the best
Absoluetly amazing collection!
I found my dads watches which consisted of a seiko 7005-8022 from 1974, Automatic 17 Jewels with the Blue face. He only wore it on occasion so its pretty new condition. Had it resized and now I wear it daily.
Nikoletta good for you, it’s nice to have something of your fathers. Seikos go for ever too so you should have no problems for a few years yet. A service to lubricate would not go a miss at some point
Günümüzde neden üretiliyor bu harika saatler onlar hafızamızdan hiç gitmiyor, çok özledik.
Very nice video, looking foreward to se the rest of this collection.
Thank you as always. Part two should be live in a few days.
These old Seiko were very flashy.
My father gave me his old Seiko watch with the TV screen shape when I was at high school. The dial was purple.
Good work, and good on you. I'm hooked as well, cheers.
Great collection and looks like the collection I had when I got fascinated with retro looking watches that were coming out in the early 90s. So back then many were not collecting these prizes and would find on eBay for under $50. on eBay. When I get into things I go all the way and love retro things to collect.
So I would find these old Seikos at flea markets and thrift store and around year 2000. I ended up with about around 30 and they were all over in various drawers got out of control bc I was also collecting the new watches that were going retro from brands like Citizen and Spoon, which I believe was made by Seiko. Oh and Seiko made these chunky square retro looking watches also.
Unfortunately I ended up loosing many in storage and by theft and had many that you have with the thick faces or rims. I even had one that were really special that I didn’t see on your collection.
Now that others are getting into this hobby, you have more competition and with that the prices have gone up. So after about 10 years, I’m starting to look for vintage seikos bc there seems to be plenty and since the watch culture died after the Apple Watch, there’s more inventory out there.
I’m sure there are ppl. that collect Rolex, Omega and other high end brands, but Seiko quality is very good and other Japanese brands. So it’s a more affordable hobby and if you know how to restore them, even better bc many don’t and once it’s in bad shape, they as very little for it.
So I just restarted this passion for Japanese brands and starting with old Seiko digital watches. I already bought 3 and today was going to buy another one and the model that came out in 76 and the first chrono Seiko put out. I was all excited bc the bid started on eBay at $52. and thought to myself, how great to have that watch after learning about just yesterday. But someone else got it and I figured bc others were listing the same iconic watch for $500.
Also, that’s great that you know places that sells new covers and can’t think of the name. Bc i always felt with the decline watch stores and repair store in America, I figured that was impossible. Oh and I’ve always loved the jewel crystals.
Pt. 2
Hopefully collecting old watches will catch on to keep it going. And wish more places open up to restore watches. This actually would be a great new business to restore old watches and sell and trade them, like they do with classic cars. Everything else like vintage hi fi equipment and record collecting is back, so I’m sure anything that was extremely popular in the past, will come back.
Oh and I’ve also notice many retro watches being sold and restored from India and the Philippines. But also heard that many of those sold have old parts inside from other watches and not original. And they use after market new faces to make them look new. So I guess there are new after market part being made for these watches cans someone saw a new market.
Anyway, I enjoyed your video and going to subscribed.
Thank you for your comment, the digital Seiko is a 0634- there were 3 models the 5001, 5009 and the iconic 5019 I have all 3 and actually done a video ages ago on the module. These go for good money now as the online community as massive and more awareness for these means more people looking for them.
The hobbyist watchmaking is now bigger than it was when I started in 2016. I think people like me and others who show how to work on watches on RUclips has brought many more to the hobby. Thanks for your subscription.
Catching you up m8 :D Thought to start on my "CouldbeanActus" 7019 after declaring my 6119 a done job :D
Great video 👏🏼
Great video. Absolutely beautiful Seiko. I myself have a thing for Seiko because my first mechanical watch was a Seiko 5. Looking forward to watching more of your videos as I’m subscribing right now. Thank you
thank you sir. so many seikos out there to choose from so good luck.
In-house movement to perfection
Vintage Seikos and vintage soviet watches are kryptonite to my wallet.
But I really enjoy them, great collection sir 👍
Hello ... I like you collection bro ....
Heaven!
Wow what a collection ! Tip my cap to you sir
If you don’t already have one, here’s a good reference for you. The 7019-5140. It’s like a baby Patek Nautilus. Beautiful watch.
Some real beauties in there
Thank you. Wait till part two as there are more gems.
I like Seikos, including servicing them, but soooooo many Frankensteins...
Agreed but they are very easy to spot.
Hallo Mr. How do you remove the 7019-5090 blue Seiko crown at 10 minutes? Please help. please make a video tutorial
Can you make a lists of all seiko 5 watches from oldest to newest😊
Impressive work restoring those nicely done sir and a really cool collection
Thank you very much Sir
Maybe it was subliminal, but I asked the faceted question at the exact same time you were showing one. LOL. My brain must've heard that but I didn't pick up on it.
awesome collection. I wish I had half of it. but I fear I have to compete with you to find models of my birth year 😄
haha. there is plenty to go around believe me.
I love green dials. Especially when they have gold hardware or numerals, any suggestions?
beautiful 😄
Thank you!
Is the sq seiko 1974 watch worth anything. Interesting video. I like vintage watches
The watch finder is tthanks
At 21:00 is perfect on you wrist
l personally like that one
Not Not a problem until you admit to yourself it's a problem, just don't admit to yourself. 😆
spidiq8 haha so true! There are many of us with this addiction 😂
Nice !!! Wish I have one of these
I have a Seiko 5 with a 7009 8210 movement . It keeps better time than my new Seiko snxg47k1.
I will get to some watch fairs when all this Covid has gone away.
Wow, really nice ones! Sold on the blue dials also... :) Had to buy the new Turtle, save the ocean, Great White Shark edition when I saw it, best looking watch I've owned! =) I hope it becomes a classic one day, wait, I'm sure of it! =)
I love those save the ocean Seikos. My issue is I am more into the vintage than the modern. Vintage has more charm and tend to be very cheap in comparison.
@@MyRetroWatches Yes, sure can see the charm with the vintage ones! There is quite a lot of flea markets around here, only managed to find one older Seiko, a Quarts, swapped in a new battery, ordered a new crystal and polished the case. Unfortunately it had a white dial but worked fine until the metal ring holding the crystal decided to pop out. Never found the rinag and crystal again! Thankfully I got it for next to nothing since it looked so worn. =)
OnGod, all it takes is the right Musician/Actor and then you watch the price on these beauties climb to "Top Tier" status where they should be. Seiko have been making great Timekeepers forever imo
Love it
Very nice Seiko collection, great job both on movements and cases, I'm learning as much as I can.
No chronographs yet?
Thanks. I have one 6139 that I have been trying to service. A Seiko Helmet. Its a whole new complexity and was hoping to learn the movement confidently and then to film for the channel however it has a broken chrono wheel which is so far being very difficult to locate a spare without buying a whole donor watch.
@@MyRetroWatches
I have a donor watch.
Shoot me an email at atomicskuff@yahoo.com and I will ship it to you.
You can take out what you need and send back the rest. The cenrtal axis has already been removed.
Mr. X really? I am looking for the main chrono wheel
@@MyRetroWatches
Yes.
The central axis that has the seconds wheel is missing. Other than that it should be all there, including the part your looking for. I can either send you the donor watch asap or have the watchmaker remove the part in mid September.
hi hello bro Mat salleh(bule) VERY nice bro, I LIKES N ONE VINTAGE SEIKO LOVE...FROM AMBO, TM KELANTAN MALAYSIA...
Wow!
Ah I have a seiko quartz I can’t find a crystal for. If I post a video showing the reference number/case back and overall watch would you help me track down the crystal please?
Mama Mia that’s a lot of seikos
Dude love your collection!
Thanks!
Very interesting and certainly an educative clip. Btw as per your experience is the Seiko 6119 much superior in every aspect to the 6619/6309/7005 & 7625. Your honest opinion please which is very much appreciated....
I just like the 6119. To me its a more solid movement. the 6309 is a major workhorse though. the 7### were all much simpler to service as there are less parts.
hey great video, awesome collection. i recently bought a watch which resembles the 6309-5650 or the 6319-6020, the case back says that its a 6309-5100 but it looks nothing like a 5100, is it a fake or just the wrong caseback?
Great watches unique.
Do you know what year the Seiko 8123 5000 was made?
