Woah, I’m Nicaraguan, and I live like 20-21 km away from the Masaya Volcanoe. I started smelling Sulfur in the mornings and I knew it was erupting again.
I always enjoy your videos. Fagradj in Iceland 2019 got me all into volcanos and I feel your videos are more informational than most available. Keep it up bud
Just wanted to mention, thank you for editing infotexts onto the clips that show different volcanoes/things than you are talking about at that moment, that had been a gripe of mine since the very early days of the channel! Keep it up!
Thank you, love how cut straight to the chase ... hope all is well with you and yours ...❤ I would love to see a new "deep dive" into the New Madrid fault zone, some of the mechanics involved and it is related to the Ozark dome ? Similar rock in the Dakota's ?
Thanks as always! I am sorry for mistakenly typing "Thanks" as "Thanos"! It is fascinating to see life return to Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai. We may need to study Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai's remnant islands, as they may unlock the secrets of a tropical eruption that occurred around 1108-1110. The eruption's exact location is unknown. I saw Popocatepetl's slightly increased activity on live cameras. Again, thanks for the updates on new volcanic eruptions!
I guess the spaniards just assumed molten rock and gold went together. I wonder what the plan was for that..dip buckets into crater hoping to get buckets of lava to examine..lol
I get the impression the Spaniards assumed pretty much anything out of the ordinary was related to gold. There was some pretty powerful wishful thinking acting on some pretty ignorant people, which is also why, yeah, the locals were able to troll them pretty hard.
I'm not certain it was the same volcano, but for at least one volcano, instead of finding gold, they found and harvested sulfur (for black powder), instead. Investigating a "yellow mountain" was a win-win scenario for the Spanish conquerors.
Dammit! I have been wanting to visit Ternate for decades. it has a fascinating history with successive cultures of Tribal rulers, Chinese and Arab traders, Islamic Sultanates, the Portuguese, a visit by Frances Drake, the Dutch, the Spanish, a British invasion, a Japanese invasion, then becoming part of Indonesia. Much of the interest was in the local spice, cloves. The (to an English speaker) charmingly named Gamalama seems to erupt unpredictably but pretty often. With this latest, I'm starting to think I'll never get there.
It saddens me that the Hunga Tonga - Hunga Ha'apai volcano is mostly forgotten in media. Especially since all the weird weather we have been seeing for the last two years is directly caused by that one eruption, and that it will last another 5 years. We are staring down the barrel of a gun that has already gone off. And NOBODY wants to talk about it. The overwhelming vast majority of humanity is suffering from the cognitive bias known as the ostrich effect. If I was humanity, I would start talking about it. So that we may come up with a solution, like detonating a few nuclear bombs in a stratovolcano, to induce an eruption. So that we can get more dust and ash in our atmosphere, to block some of the light, causing a volcanic winter, to counter the global warming effect caused by the water vapor and gasses thrust into our atmosphere by the Hunga Tonga - Hunga Ha'apai volcano. But as long as people continue to ignore it, NOTHING will be done. Maybe in a couple years, when hundreds of millions of acres of land is on fire, maybe then people will be willing to talk about it?
I can't wait for Summer, also known as "global warming" to gullible morons. Germany is just very cold, rainy, or has grey skies from October to late February.
He explained it on a live stream. It helps him to write out the voice over script beforehand, and reading it sounds a little robotic. He sounded completely normal on the stream.

The natives might have trolled them and said there was gold
