I've been trying to get the SOSPES knife for a few years now. I guess LT is no longer making these Tarzan-type knives which is a real shame! Please let LT know we would greatly appreciate him putting this beauty back in production and if you're wanting one please let LT know it! Just looking at the SOSPES knife makes me feel like fighting an alligator! ( I NEED A SOSPES!)
Personally, I think LT Wright makes some of the finest bush craft knives on the market. When I first discovered this Mantis SOSPES, I had to have it. A very well designed knife.
I just got this knife and it is a work horse I used it the first day when I received it. I battened some wood for my stove yard and it was a great knife that will be handed down in 30 years love the kydex sheath this is now my bush knife can’t wait to use it to gut my next deer.
Some day I'll get a Sospes, I know why the O1 tool steel, but I'm holding out for a 3v version. If I forget a rod or stone, my companion HD carbon will go under the knife(rock) first before a Sospes!!
as a chef, this blade shape appeals to me. I have often thought that shape would be what I would want out in the scrub, just heavier than a kitchen knife. Great job!
I bought this knife and its one of my favorites. 01 Tool Steel will rust easily even with oil on it depending on your climate but if you force a patina on it you shouldn't have any issues. I ended up putting a mustard patina on mine and I think it looks pretty sick. All in all if you need One knife to do alot of things really well from chopping to bushcraft, carving, batoning, food prep ect you cannot go wrong with this blade.
I like it. One of the things I look for in a bushcraft knife is how close can I SAFELY get my index finger to the cutting edge. The closer I can get the better control I have and the more I like the knife. Like I said, I like it. BTW, Will's quick with that baton!
I do like this more than the Jessmuk, and the Jessmuk is a great knife design too, but me been a newbie i sure be more confortable with Will's design... Keep the nice work both... hope see more soon..
I've never been into bushcraft style knives, I'm a fan of large blades, especially TOPS knives, but I really like this knife!! For me, it be a toss up between the Sospes and the SXB. Either way, I'm gonna own both of these knives at some point! Great video guys!
Looks just like a Tracker to me...Really though, it's a fantastic design w flawless blade to handle ratio & blade shape & length, & a great looking tip, I can tell it's strong enough to stand up to some violent pounding & also pointy enough, if you will, to penetrate w ease. Will - your Pete Kohler bushcrafter is one of the coolest all around knives I've ever seen - an all time favorite of mine. I'll tell ya what, I've got not one, but two crisp 20-dollar bills with your name on 'em for the Kohler. Full disclosure, it's gonna have to be a personal check, & don't even try cashing it before the Tuesday after next....not this coming Tuesday, but the one after that.
Is it a true scandi, "ground to zero", or does it have a micro bevel at the edge? Looks great, and will probably do whatever you want a knife to do. The price is very reasonable for a handcrafted knife. Nice job Will.
I bought the Sospes knife , I had to sell it . Because after long term use it really hurts your hand without gloves, The thick fat blade is no good in balance , and the handle is too square and thick . I think the LT Wright GNS is the perfect all around field knife, the handle is very comfortable and it balanced very well , in AEB-L with the thinner blade it is perfect . Another option would be the LT Wright Bushcraft hunter with a blade slightly over 5 inches , very close to the Sopses but a blade that is not so thick and wide top to bottom like the Sospes. These are only my opinions from my use of the Sospes knife , everyone's hands are different and it may work great for you . The PKS Mountain lion looks excellent too in satin finish in 1095 carbon steel and at a good price of $115.00 on up depending on handle material.
Hey guys, thanks for this video. I ordered mine today and should have it in my hands by next week. I am excited. I'll be ordering my wife a knife in a couple weeks, a Guinness. Cheers......
Whatever camera yinz are using is the best one so far and I'm talking years before and months weeks? After... that camera makes awesome clear vids! Great design Willy!!!!
Hey Chris I need some advice. I am wanting to get my first good camping/outdoor knife. I now I want an LT wright knife but I don't know if I should get a scandi or a saber grind. Because I am afraid a Scandi would chip or roll. Do I need to be afraid of that and any suggestions you have? Thanks!!
wil likes high carbon tool steels, he's kinda your avg bushcrafter, i dont like labels but its kinda true i guess?😕. plus lt is a boss at heat treating it
It's nice other than the 1982 O1 steel. If it was a little more modern (3v) I and I'm sure a lot more people would get one. Carbon steel knives are real outdated.
man I really love the brakimo because just like you I like a more of a belly on my knife .... for the price point and without the sharp spine don't u think the brakimo is just as capable???
I get what you're saying, but the forest they're in is actually made healthier by removing some of the smaller trees that are too close to each other &-or more mature trees. Will & Chris, instead of receiving your scorn, should be receiving medals, for making their local forest a better forest. Seriously, I had the same thoughts you had when watching this...but I do believe the facts I made up above may actually be actual facts.
Yes, but those trees were kinda far from your example (IMO). I could also start a sermon about the importance of the trees and why WE need every tree on earth (we are cutting 450.000 sqm every minute)....What they did is not gonna change OUR problem, they could have even cut down a "right one" but the message, in this form, is wrong. Just that.
There's only two things of mine that I've fell in love with when I put it in my hand. The Sospes and that which will remain unnamed for the sake of the children.
+Ruth Antisdel Beckers aren't bushcraft knives and they are factory made, not handmade. Nothing wrong with them, but we're not even taking about similar products.
This is the only knife that I have seen that I would spend the near $200.00 asking price to own. One, it looks like a great design with the higher Scandi grind, and a great handle, two, it is a practical knife, unlike the impractical and over priced Dark Timber Grizzly recently showcased here, and three, it is designed by William Myers. I trust Will, he knows what he is doing, he is not trying to become a marketing guru, and does not put on airs, unlike some of the Un-Reality show UN-Celebrity knife designers, and the Blade Show UN-Celebrity knife designers, whose names get thrown around in the same sentence as God, and the New England Patriots!
Yeah man for sure. It is a top notch product made by guys that clearly love what they do and have a passion for knife making. Plus its designed by a guy that gets out there and uses his knives each and everyday, not some dude behind a desk that thought it would make a cool knife cause it looks "tac-ti-cool" lol
Tried to give you information on under armour not being as pro outdoors as they portray but you insist on advertising for them. I'm here because I like your content is under armour here?
I liked under armour also but when I learned they were not supportive of outdoorsman I quit buying and I won't be buying under armour anymore. Outdoorsman need to stick together an attack on one of us is an attack on all of us least we see our sports errode.
www.outdoorhub.com/news/2016/08/22/armour-drops-huntress-sarah-bowmar/ Here's the article update. To bad these companies give into liberal pressure and the outdoorsman pays the price.

Man, I do love that knife ... In saber grind!
Glad I found this video I was about to pull the trigger on a lt Wright gen 3 but this one fits more what I had in mind
Would love to see a wet-mold technique vid.... nice knife
Actually was able to get in on the first run of this knife. It is such a great knife. Compliments the Jessmuk that I got. Keep up the great videos!
looks cool! reminds me of a chef knife only beefier... I like the drop point/speer point... tip shape!
Some day I'll get a Sospes, I know why the O1 tool steel, but I'm holding out for a 3v version. If I forget a rod or stone, my companion HD carbon will go under the knife(rock) first before a Sospes!!

Your on the mark here brother as most frontiersmen would take along there favorite knifes from the kitchen

great review. love the knife. would love to see a video on how you wet-folded the sheath to fit the knife.
Looks like a nice knife, not really my preferred style but hey that's why there are so many choices.
Love this knife design. The only thing it's missing is/are thumb scallops on the handle scales, IMO.
I like it. One of the things I look for in a bushcraft knife is how close can I SAFELY get my index finger to the cutting edge. The closer I can get the better control I have and the more I like the knife. Like I said, I like it.
BTW, Will's quick with that baton!
That is one sweet blade boys, great size for a myriad of tasks. Looking forward to the next run from L.T
one of the most beautiful knives I have ever seen. 🔪✨
just got one of these and this knife is a beast!
I wonder if and when you have time could you tell us more about the neck knife sheaf you are using, looks like it has a sliding lock??
I just got the jessmuk Love it this one not to crazy about the look but looks like a capable knife
Wow ! It's a "pocket-sized Hercules" , does a lot for it's size. I kinda wonder how different this hybrid Scandi grind is to sharpen ? Nice review !
"higher" not hybrid.
How do I get the Sospes knife?
I've searched everywhere for the saber grind and can't find it anywhere! (Are they still making them in 2022?)
I do like this more than the Jessmuk, and the Jessmuk is a great knife design too, but me been a newbie i sure be more confortable with Will's design... Keep the nice work both... hope see more soon..
A live the design of that knife Will... Missed out on the first run... Guess it'll have to be a Christmas gift by the time the 2nd run is released.
Nice! A very practical and functional knife that doesn't wreak of geek...I like it!
I've never been into bushcraft style knives, I'm a fan of large blades, especially TOPS knives, but I really like this knife!! For me, it be a toss up between the Sospes and the SXB. Either way, I'm gonna own both of these knives at some point! Great video guys!
Beautiful knife Will. Just curious as to why the choice of SOSPES for the name?
I would absolutely lose my mind if Schrade made a 1095 similar to this with scandi grind!!! That would be awesome!
O1 tool steel is master race.
Awesome looking knife. Love the blade like that the handle. Chris or Will do you know if there will be other handle options.
looks great! good job on the knife Will
Looks just like a Tracker to me...Really though, it's a fantastic design w flawless blade to handle ratio & blade shape & length, & a great looking tip, I can tell it's strong enough to stand up to some violent pounding & also pointy enough, if you will, to penetrate w ease. If there's a micro bevel on it, I sure as hell can't detect it physically or visually even with a magnifying glass.
Chris use your extraordinary power's of persuasion to get LT to make a cpm3v version of the Sospes PLEASE!!!!!:)
Wills knife looks like its going to be a home run
Awesome blade! Gotta put this one on the list, lol. Great design Will!

I like the knife. Yes it can baton, a butter knife can do that.
But would like to see you make pot hangers. You know bushcraft stuff
Good luck with the knife will .
Hey guys, thanks for this video. I ordered mine today and should have it in my hands by next week. I am excited. I'll be ordering my wife a knife in a couple weeks, a Guinness. Cheers......
Beautiful knife.
I made three mods to the Old Hickory, it works.
If you claim it doesn't make sense, explain it.... please?
This is a hefty knife, very well made. The only problem is it is way too expensive for a knife!
I see the Sospes as an LT Wright GNS on steroids. I'm anxious to have one in my hands. Good video, gents.
That was awesome! Will you hit the mark with the Mantis SOSPES!
Whatever camera yinz are using is the best one so far and I'm talking years before and months weeks? After... that camera makes awesome clear vids!
Great design Willy!!!!
what's that leg pack you're wearing??
how comfortable is the handle compared to the GNS. I have the GNS and don't like the handle - too round.
Love the knife size and shape, hate scandi on bigger knives.
Wow, nice looking knife! :)
What is the difference between this knife and the PLSK1 besides the handle?
very sweet knife will great stuff boys
Hey Chris I need some advice. I am wanting to get my first good camping/outdoor knife. I now I want an LT wright knife but I don't know if I should get a scandi or a saber grind. Because I am afraid a Scandi would chip or roll. Do I need to be afraid of that and any suggestions you have? Thanks!!
A Bear Grylls water filled compass knife for 30 bucks!!! Where do I get one?
sweet knife
You guys done with BHK, I still like the plsk 1 and the Scout. Don't get me wrong cause LT makes some good stuf too. Or was LT the brains behind BHK?
+Micheal Antisdel BH who?
thats a really cool design
Chris what knife are you wearing as a neck knife in this video
+LRRP69 My JX3
wish I could get one in hand before I say yes or no. I see things I like and things I don't. Until its in your hand you never know.
+preparedmind101 geezzz bro! what kinda Ferro Rod was that??
+AnotherSloth nothing special. Just a no name rod Doug (YellowHawk) gets in bulk to put on sheaths.
Looks like Lt Wright doesn't make these knives anymore (2023 Jan) 😩
is it available with a saber grind also?
hey Chris can you review the schf 43 by shrade
lol good joke
Do you know if lt ships to Sweden?
out of curiosity, why O1 tool steel? was there a particular reason for that?
wil likes high carbon tool steels, he's kinda your avg bushcrafter, i dont like labels but its kinda true i guess?😕. plus lt is a boss at heat treating it
Nice blade!
this profile looks like its similar to a cook's knife style, or a chef;s knife design.
I bought this knife and I love it
Me, too. I wish this knife was around 10 years ago because I would've saved myself thousands of dollars looking for the perfect bushcraft knife.
Really nice knife. Price restrictive for me.
It's nice other than the 1982 O1 steel. If it was a little more modern (3v) I and I'm sure a lot more people would get one. Carbon steel knives are real outdated.
+mrbz900 they work fine, are strong and easy enough to sharpen. What super steel? Get super price.
Nice knife.
It is an impressive blade. I shed many hippie tears during the tree chopping.
Hundreds of trees in this area or marked to come down the land owner is clearing a lot of his trees for land management
I inhaled some patchouli and have decided to forgive you Will.
Cool man I was not going to sleep at all lol
lol
I was wondering what you guys were going to start reviewing when you all ran out of trees !
Awesome video........
it looks like a giant condor bushlore
lol funny
man I really love the brakimo because just like you I like a more of a belly on my knife .... for the price point and without the sharp spine don't u think the brakimo is just as capable???
Nice stuff as always... but really, living trees? I bet there is a lot of shitty dead wood to play with, out there...
I get what you're saying, but the forest they're in is actually made healthier by removing some of the smaller trees that are too close to each other &-or more mature trees. High scandi. - very nice
great video and nice knife!!
I like way toooooooo many knives. Nice!
If that tree barber chaired you would be in trouble. You always get hurt on the small shit.
Nice knife I may just buy it.
I love this knife from the momwnt i put it in my hand.
There's only two things of mine that I've fell in love with when I put it in my hand. The Sospes and that which will remain unnamed for the sake of the children.
kinda reminds me of a giant bushlore.
Seen it all now.....
yo what steel is it?
+Forever Jim O1
Beckers aren't that high and there made here, I think thats a lot more reasonble then the sospes...

Worth every penny, wasn't it?

You need to giveaway Will,s knife on yor channel.
I like it.
I can do all that and more with my Jessica X!!!
+SolidSnakeFPV *fist bump* Jess-X would've murdered that tree. But those are completely different classes of knives.
nice lookin knife
That was many alive trees
I love fast forward
Great knife but I would still pick Jess X first......Sospes second.
I'm sure you have gone over it in a past video but, what is on your left leg?
ArkH1ve lotta useless shit.....
sharp enough to stab monsters. (the rake, grey aliens etc...)
nice infomercial
....and they went and made the handle to small. Fail.
You can leed a horse to water but you can't make em drink. Too bad I had high hopes
+rezdog187 What does that mean?

I like it!! Great Job Will\LTWK ,,,,atb!!,,,,Spook
You would think a good friend would give Will and Jess-X ;0)
