Freddie stepped back a bit on the songwriting this time around. He only has one solo writing credit on the album, the exquisite "Princes of the Universe". Jay is right on the ball today. Freddie is indeed telling the story of "The Highlander" and there are pointers towards dialogue from the movie. It's a kinda magic is mentioned when Connor saves the child Rachel during WW2, and of course the message throughout the move is "there can be only one". Great soundtrack, great reaction, now go see the movie, the story is "timeless" and the scenery in Scotland is absolutely stunning!

A previous comment mentioned white queen live at odeon 1975. 100%.agree! That performance will blow your minds. Also, i have to admit, im one of the viewers who has been waiting for you guys to do live aid. I realize evéy channel does it, but if you haven't seen it, really, honestly, it is a must. As is anything live, by queen. Imo just about all of their stuff is better live. How many bands can say that? Noticed, one, surprising negative comment. Im not sure ive seen this channel get one, at least like the one i saw. Anyway, my point, you two are wonderfully diverse in the music you choose. Even if it turns out to be something isnt in someones taste, so what? You choices, which im sure are views recommendations, are brodening my library too. Im 56, i heard a lot, but nor everything. And its nice not to hear a hit everone knows. But the critic is wrong anout this song. Maybe not one of the biggies, its well known. And on their set list, frequently. ....but, live aid. Please 🙏. Keep doing what youre doing. Cant wait to see 1 million subscribers! 🙂

They have so many kinds of songs, and many are just plain awesome. This was later on but he still has the range and passion. For a big time rocking epic from them when they were establishing themselves as a new and great rock band, try Liar from their first album, the boys were really bringing it in those days. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶

I very much agree. To me, we are listening to Queen. Not Freddie Mercury and Queen. Each member of the band brought their own talent to the group. Their playing, their voices (except John) and their composition. They were all equal, without just one of them it wouldn't be Queen.

This came out when they did the sound track for the Highlander. so versatile and so talented. They were popular when my kids were teens and we parents didn't really appreciate them. However when I went back to college after age 65 I took a Rock and Roll appreciation class and did my thesis on them. I am a believer now. One of their biggest fans. Freddie would be my age now 77. Love all the band members and miss Deakie.

This song was written by Roger for the Highlander soundtrack, which they all wrote for.

      this isn't the film version
even Roger gives Freddie credit for it's success
they are all great musicians and had hits
but Freddie does stand out in most songs especially if your not a musician it can be hard to talk about the instruments individually
but it's easy to talk about the singing and performance
people wouldn't enjoy the songs so much if it didn't sound great in it's entirety
this version was produced by Freddie and Richard
