Props to you for being a quality content creator! Most youtubers would try to make a 20 video long series out of these 8 motors! Thank you for what you do!
Great Videos!!! I'm a 34 year Johnson & Evinrude tech specializing in small motors from 2 to 50 h.p.. I love everything about them! Good to see someone else taking up the cause! Two stroke motors especially J. & E. motors, are NUMBER ONE!!!!!
It was such a pleasure working with you to fix all of these engines. Highly recommend to anyone looking for boat engine repair!! Amazing work on these engines, they performed flawlessly for training! Thank you so much for all your work and attention to detail! I have another new to us engine for you to look at...
I'd like to comment on the condition of those engines - both before and after the fabulous repairs. I organize and run a training for the Naval Sea Cadets that involves a lot of boating. In years past, we have spent nearly half the "training time" trying to get our motors running. Not this year. The engines were in superb condition and greatly contributed to the best training we've run in the last 7 or 8 years!
you have a surprisingly large amount of knowledge for your age !!!!!! I wish there were more like you!! sharing what you're sure of without claming to know what you dont yet know 48 years in the buiz for a living plus a little racing and your work cought my eye keep up the good work!!!!
You are talented and fearless! Hey I know that you tune a lot of carbs. But for the rest of us, carbs are hard! Maybe in a future episode, you could do like a full tour of the different types of carbs, their components, and what is most likely to go wrong. Thanks so much. The 8 outboards has been my favorite episode yet!
I am a born tinkerer and love to watch these videos. So jealous of your knowledge and expertise!!! Just love the idea of bringing a lost cause back to life, just amazing, keep the great content coming.
Would love to get some insight into the financials! How much you can buy them for, what your time/labor (not to mention knowledge) costs, and how much you could potentially sell them for. Thanks for sharing!
Just fixed eight motors in 12 minutes and 31 seconds and took apart and diagnosed a carburetor problem while on the water. Nice job dude. Enjoy the videos
@@nabox1435 I mean there is some truth to it. Older stuff has more hours, which makes them less reliable than new stuff, which usually has less hours. Also now all the major outboard brands are all reliable, where 30 years ago you had the reliable and the unreliable brands.
Great content. I graduated from Charlotte high school. Punta Gorda Florida. Sophomore junior and senior year’s multiple hours in the marine mechanics class. Your videos bring back old memories.
Yoooooooooo! Make a video. People never get tired of used engine revival videos.... problem solving from beginning to end, fuel, electric, mechanical. Love your content, really hoping you're not giving it up. Hope all is well, Merry Christmas to you and your family.... and Happy New Year to you.
I like hearing what you paid for the motors and then how much it cost you in time and money to repair. You make it look so easy. Now the engines just need new paint jobs and decals.
Loved working on these..we had 30 Johnson/Evenrude 40s in the mid 70s for boat patrols on the Belize Guatemalalan Border...must have totally rebuilt every one of them in 8 months..they had a hard life...some sunk in the river..some seized due to lack of oil...smashed from hitting sunken debris....loved working on them...
You’re a freakin legend. I want to know your story. You should do a full video talking about how you started fixing these, why you chose to record it and post it on RUclips. You inspire me man
I just found your channel wow, I have a 1967 20 hp johnson that has been giving me a fit to get it working right under a load use to i could start it up and run it in a plastic drum now it want even start up maybe if i keep watching your channel maybe some things will help get it to were i can fish again and enjoy it and not worry about my motor not working great job on those motors.
Dude im from maine and I love your channel. I love watching you fix this stuff. Im addicted to your videos and want to bring back some motors like this. Keep em coming
I've watched all of your videos and you have literally taught me everything I know and didn't know about these engines. Thanks mate. Downunder Melbourne Australia.
Thanks. Do you “mess” with remote start (I mean, electrically started from conning station away from the engine) and remote steering (cable or pushrod)?
Love all your videos, one of the best channels on RUclips. Reminds me of when I was a boy in Wisconsin buying used outboards and fixing them with my father.
I’m not a boat guy and not sure why this even popped up, but I totally enjoyed the video and will definitely blame you if I suddenly decide to buy a boat! LoL
OMG you fixed all of those beautiful motors! Just found how amazing you have done this video so simple and to the point! Actually, most of 2 stroke motors really easy to do their works just need to know the fundamental elements for the motors, and those 2 strokes could run like a charm!
Hey TBGuy, we've sent out search parties to look for you. Glad you're okay. Look forward to all your content. Try to not make us wait so long between videos. You know how many people wish they had 214,000 subs? Thanks again. You've taught me a ton.
Shit!! Wish I was that mechanically inclined. Nice job! I have an Evinrude 8, and a old Evinrude 15 that need this done to them. But this helps. I mean I'll try it. Lol.
There's the ultrasonic cleaner! But yu need the next size up so you can get a total submersion. But hey - headed in the right direction 😊Because you like your engines to look clean - if your not going to do the full detail under the hood, hit the guts witih your high pressure air hose. That will tidy it up right quick.
Love to der your videos man, I also bought two outboards from the dutch militarie last month. One ran great but I was such a fool for not looking under the hood of the other one when I bought it. It missed almost every part that could be removed. But is has been a good lesson for me
' Those are motors for the MARS (Marine Amphibious Reconnaissance System), which was usually mated to a Zodiac F-470 CRRC (Combat Rubber Raiding Craft), used by USMC Force Recon, US ARMY SF & Rangers, Navy SEALS, USAF STS, etc. I think they are based on Johnson Commercial motors, modified with the drain system, they also came with a silencer system, which was acoustic pads fitted around the case and top of the lower unit. Thanks for bringing a few of them back to life, I have many fond memories of long nights at sea running those bad boys.
I’m a newer subscriber and newer boater! I’m currently repairing a 1980 Sea King 15 Horse by Chrysler. I replaced the head gasket which had blown and seem to have good compression. But now my starter recoil stopped winding back up. A starter online costs about $60 which seems too much for me. I’ll try to see what I can do before I go and buy an expensive part
If I did a carby rebuild like you, 1:41, I’d miss the rag and the screws and bolts would go through the table and be lost forever 🇦🇺🤙🏼 Great to see another Vid….
I have an older (late 70's) 50hp Evinrude that will not idle properly and I believe it's also missing a spring or link for the choke. I need help bad!!!! Great video by the way. Very impressive.

As if the military has any interest in saving tax dollars..🙄
Nah, they have a cycle life and get replaced working or not.

I notice they are all 2 stroke engines, sometimes the old school technology works the best.
