MY REVIEW - Well mine arrived today and I LOVE it! :-) It is not exactly what I expected, but then again, I am not exactly sure WHAT I was expecting either, but its delightful! The 5 electric guitar model selections are bright and expressive, with tons of sustain and resonance. That alone is worth the price of the guitar to me. Out of those 5, the model I like the most is tagged "B'Tween", which sounds to my ears like half telecaster and half acoustic guitar which is really sweet sounding, especially for Jazz. The acoustic guitar models sound just like an acoustic guitar after you have put a fresh set of strings on them - bright, clear and chimey full of harmonics :-) but there is one added benefit with this guitar that was unexpected, which makes the acoustics models go beyond the sound of your usual acoustic guitar ... because this is a Solid Body guitar, the acoustic modeling gets all the sustain and resonance of an electric solid body as well. So even though the selections sound like an acoustic guitar, it kinda makes my mind go "tilt" when the notes just continue to sustain and hang and linger on instead of dying off quickly - I like that a lot!. The 12 strings models sound better if you drop the volume level down about half way when playing them, but even so, they still have a "generated" type of sound, but I think they will "blend" well in a full band. The "nylon" model just isn't quite right though, it makes a good sound, but trying to pass it off as a classical sound it just doesn't work. It does sound sweet with reverb on it though, but I can't claim it as a nylon string guitar sound IMO. The banjo could be a step higher in volume area, but it works wonderfully. The dobro and sitar are great ones too. Not sure how I will use the synths yet though, maybe a run through of the Beverly Hills Cop theme Ha! The only other 'issues", if you can them that, is that I will need to lower the saddles slightly to get the string height more like what I am used to playing - I like the action really low on my instruments. But the nut looks to be high enough at the first fret for me to be able to lower the saddles without any resulting string buzz, so again no big deal. There was only one "QC" issue I found with this guitar. I had to remove the white frame in order to be able to tighten up the nut on the back end of the 1/4" phono jack. The jack was super loose. The tightening of the nut was overlooked in the assembly process, but that took all of about 5 minutes to fix, so no big deal ;-) Lastly, when listening through the built in headphone jack, it has a stereo studio quality sound IMO. So when I record with this one, that is going to be my output choice for recording. I think this is a fantastic guitar ! LOVE IT!! ~ Bob
Female doppleganger entering stage left at 23 second mark - HA! I have one of the white versions of this guitar on its way, suppose to be here this week :-) Can't wait!
+ZentraediArmada lets hope so for Vox then. I love vox but they never seem to make it big with these things. As said I love and use vox myself. great products.
What happened to the guitar? You never see them for sale anywhere. Did they bomb like all the rest of the recent Vox guitar? They never released it for sale.
Douchebag alert at 2:15. Someone please make a meme out of this. edit: I'm talking about the jerk in the background, not the guitar player. He did a good job of the presentation.
Xupmas Yep, the guy who turns around with a stupid bucktooth grin to mockingly laugh at the guy who is likely playing better guitar than he does. That's the one.
What a piece of CRAP. Despite of the terrible look, none of the models sound even decent, not to mention be a Stratocaster. Hell no it does not sound "like" stratocaster. Same as amp modelling, lots of combos but not a single inspiring strong tone.
+Tom Lawreszuk This was recorded through crappy mics (not direct) and in a setting where you get background noise from all directions, not to mention the volume was pretty low during the entire presentation (especially the acoustic models). They even mentioned something about noise police, so obviously volume is an issue. I wouldn't knock it till I tried it, besides, I've always been a fan of Vox tones and amp modeling, and unlike most people out there bashing amp modeling, I've actually taken the time to learn how to make my own presets and emulate the real thing. Comes down close to my ears, I use it for recording and would not think twice about gigging with it. The days of $2000 plus guitars with amplifiers that cost just as much ARE OVER.

Neato! I think I am most interested in the synth aspects. I too wonder if it tracks string bends..? Agreed -under $1000
Can you Drop D without the tuners like the Variax?

fascinating, but who would use this?

+merqury5 I see this being a studio guitar at the very best.
A lot of working guys would for weeding gigs, cruse ships and in the studio. The first thing I think of is a writing aid.
what happened to Freddy? He seemed much happier when he was doing those roland videos and demonstrations
Cool, if it's under 1k
JUST UNDER and if it sounded good.

+Charles Forssi Still available here dude: www.dawsons.co.uk/vox-starstream-type-1-vss-1-electric-guitar
wicked!
Does it do bends?
+LPFan4 You mean does it djent?
"Lets take a listen to it. How about that?"
having to do the changes on the guitar isn't as good as using a foot controlled unit. You have to stop to change up/down..

Still don't see a douchebag..
Look harder, he's there.
+socialdef3 u mean the guy who turns around to look who is playing like a total boss
Xupmas Yep, the guy who turns around with a stupid bucktooth grin to mockingly laugh at the guy who is likely playing better guitar than he does. That's the one.
+socialdef3 lol i Love how you can tell that someone is a douchebag because they turn around
ELECTRIC 12 STRING SOUNDED PRETTY WEAK !
+TRICK-OR TREAT volume seemd to be really low on those settings. Same as the acoustic modeler.
cof cof line 6 cof cof roland cof cof yamaha cof cof
Probably the ugliest guitar that has hit the market this past decade.

Regardless of how this guitar sells I think that in 20 years it will be very collectible!
what an awful video demo . its an ugly Variax with not as many options then
