  • This TV starts 3 times then turns off definitely with the front LED blinking 6 times. In this case some LEDs of the backlight are defective.
    You can replace whole LED strips or single LEDs. Single LEDs can be bought from eBay, you need 3V types, 3228, anode being the smaller pad.
    Also useful are a hotplate and solder paste. Solder paste can also be obtained on eBay.

      There are a lot of varieties of LED strips. When I suspect the LEDs I disassemble the TV and check what LED exctly they are using. Mostly it's 3V nominal voltage per LED sometimes 6V. They come in all sorts of formats. To find the number of a LED strip before disassembly you could try Shopjimmy or eBay, but I woouldn't rely 100% on that. Buying LEDs, measure nominal voltage of an intact LED, measure package size with a caliper, then go to Aliexpress or eBay, search for "backlight LED TV (voltage 3V or 6V) (package). Pay attention to anode cathode size , sometimes anode is the larger pad.

    Hi. I have a Sony kdl-75w850c. One led was defektive which resulted in 7x blink so I replaced it. The Tv worked but I got a new issue. Half of the screen is darker the the other. The new led shines brighter than the old ones although it is 3 volts like the other leds. It is located in the middle of the upper side of the screen. The right half is darker. Is the new led comsuptioning much power which leads to shortage of voltage in the right side of the screen?

      For 3V LEDs it's about 2.6. For 6V LEDs about 5.4. (per LED). Always start at low voltage and increase slowly.

      I have the same tv. I have been having the same problem for over 6 months. I find that it happens when watching a movie that has dark scenes from a channel like HBO or Cinemax from the HDMI input from cable box or an Android movie app Iflix . I can watch a channel like CNN or the Android RUclips app all day with no problem. I called the Sony repair here in Jakarta Indonesia, they said would have to replace the main screen, but no stock.

    idea: make tv with two sets of led strips, one inactive, other active, as seems there is enough space. On the back, have switch between primary and secondary lights. Once it fails after 4 years, press switch, boom, 4 more years of use.

    Replacing a single LED causes the TV to come back with the same fault after a few months. Only replacement of all LED strips with new ones guarantees success.

    • @tomtechtod9200
      @tomtechtod9200  5 лет назад +2

      Sorry, this is wrong. It is true that all the other LEDs were subjected to the same high current that caused some of them to fail. However, you can replace single LEDs if you lower the average current afterwards for all LEDs. I did this a lot of times and it works without problems (and without returns). The best option is to lower it on the driver PCB itself, usually by increasing the current sense resistor. Second best option is to do it via the menu (backlight), but you have to make sure to lower it for all sources and disable options that change the backlight setting dynamically.
